    There's really no simple solution, just trial and error. Exploring is always the best bet early on. Reason is you'll find more skill books. That makes it much easier to max out your skills. Plus you'll find everything, making more money. As for your actual skill and perks, depends on what you want out of it. Sniper, Pyro, Energy, Melee, etc... I never follow the story line until later, I just hit the road and start finding stuff and fighting. Take the comprehension perk which increases your value of reading skill books, like one point. Educated is even more like 2 or 3 extra skill points per level. Scrounge type and Bloody Mess are a wasted level up after your first play, the novelty is gone, now they are taking valuable points away from you that you could use elsewhere. Intense Training, and Tag! are real valuable. I usually take the training a few times. I stick to the risky early game exploring, it's just too fun. Go for stealth, crouching while moving, so you don't get killed. Remember the sites with no fast travel point that you discover, so you can go back for all the loot. Looting is very important because you need money, as it buys happiness. Wear barter point clothes when selling if your barter skill is low. Most clothes have a certain area of value. [i'm sure you know Rivet City discount is better than Moira's bullshit discount because she charges more.] Remember to get the rare stuff off of the 4 Canterbury vendors early as possible as they always die. Sometimes if you're lucky in a game, you can find all 4 bodies, getting their stash keys. I always sell everything unless a craft item, weapon, or other useful thing, so you'll have money early on. Just explore and find everything, and don't pass an opportunity for a random encounter. I guess this is how I've ended up with a desk top full of skill books, and all the levels at 100. When you're maxed out, you will miss the journey that took you there. I always want to start a new game after the final DLC Zeta....I've found everything already. One more note - always make friends with Casdin, and trade the Enclave stuff with him. By game end, you'll have more than enough to keep one of each Enclave item and keep selling. I've found more of the Enclave Outposts than the Wiki guys.

    Then the SPECIALs are upped to 9, if they are not already at 10, by the Almost Perfect Perk. I had a few below 10 so I went for it this play. Most were at 9 or above already. I took the Child at Heart at like Level 28 as it was one of the only ones left worthy. There really wasn't much left.

    Rads are your friend, hundreds of ferals can't be wrong. Plus the best irradiated sources have the good stuff - Mirelurk Eggs. Yummy.

    It's been really great. I remember the Animal Friend Perk being okay, but nowhere near as cool as Child at Heart. EDIT: Massacre you'll be happy to know, this go I saved the Krivbeknih, on my Megaton bedroom desk along with like 100 Skill Books no longer needed. No sacrificing this relic on this play, it's just that Evil.

    A lot of the Wiki is incomplete. I've gotten this achievement before so I know the location, what I recommend is going for the Maintenance Teleporter first, before anything else, and save. Then once you're in with Sally, take your time. Entry 19 is actually easy to find, or at least it was for me on all previous plays, about 6 now. The difficult find is General Chase's Overcoat in the footlocker. Since you know you're going to be locked out, and you know you can't get back in for # 19, it's easy to miss. As you enter the U-shaped room with aliens up top behind you, the footlocker is on the floor over the rail, to the right as you enter. That one I've missed on at least two previous plays. This time got it all again, the coat and holotape, archive # 19, and the Samurai Sword at the end of the waste area by all the med supplies. (Then you will have two Samurai Swords by DLC ending.) The Swords look good when displayed with the others that I have which are Jingei's Shocksword and the Vampire's Edge from Vance. Also the Wiki is *really* short of all the Enclave Outposts. They miss at least 3 that I've found. As usual, whenever I add an entry to the Wiki, it gets deleted so fuck those guys. Best bet for special areas like this one on the alien ship is just playing through a number of times. This time I have the Child at Heart Perk so Sally unlocks that door in Engineering that I always had not accessible. Three storage containers of loot just for asking her if she has a stash.

    It's interesting, that's for sure. As the Wiki stated, the alien ship and Timmy's well are still there, plus all the weird stuff leading up to OWB. It must have had something to do with dealing with your brain, and the retrieval of heart, spine, brain. Another detail is I did the Omerta's missions after OWB, and the PipBoy3Billion doesn't have the 70's music. L0L

    Auto-Doc at the Sink doesn't have an option to go back, just surgical/implant addition or removal. All of those dialogs have been exercised completey. How do I add the perk again, reseting the WW encounters? All levels and perks are maxed out. Haven't discovered any option to go back. I'm probably missing a simple detail.

    Lost the Wildwest Perk in the Sink, somehow.... Wiki says it was the Auto-Doc, but I don't remember at all swapping it out during the Big MT DLC. Now back on the Lonesome Road DLC, as with Stripe in OWB, there is no Seymour in sight. That's two creatures you miss out on after you swap your Wildwest Perk, I guess. Maybe more. Does anyone remember how or when the option to swap is? I guess I was stoned again.
  11. I always made sure to do them all during my plays through of GTA:IV. Rehab help has been done before, so maybe a more modern touch, social app discovery. Who knew Mark Zuckerberg would be rich based on college meeting apps.... This would be similar to the up and coming rap star Niko met in Times Square. You could either financially back/invest in a young enterpreneur you meet, or watch his app crash. If you lent him funding for the project, and he is sucsessful, a large bit of money made for you. This would be more modern, fitting with the Vinewood/LS of today. After passing the mission, the app, whatever it was, now available on your cell phone. Another is sponsoring a high school athlete who lives in the projects, with poor family. Maybe you will meet him on the courts, or hustling street money for food for mom.... Watch his rise to fame in the majors of Vinewood basketball, or not.... Just a lot of random pedestrian missions come to mind. Good thread Fitty.

    FNV runs amazingly on XBox 360 Elite. I hate Steam, will not be playing on PC. FO3 was great on PC though, but no Steam then. This is by far the best experience of my 3 FNV games so far, so many things have been fixed. Then again I am focused on the hardcore aspect of survival currently. The virus-solving in the BoS bunker now fixed, and the companion missions trigger easily. Lots of little things have been completely fixed, it's great. I actually have a high fame rep with both Caesar's Legion and the NCR. Note that there have also been some hidden rooms revealed, maybe this was the same as before, but my charachter (first time as a male) has a perception of 8 thanks to the implants, and there are new rooms I never found before in the REPCONN HQ. Take a high speech and perception early on. Can't say that I would advise Steam or PS3, but the XBox 360 version is awesome.

    I'm half way through my first hardcore mode game in New Vegas. Seems like being a tank doesn't matter much. Micro-management on a massive scale. EDIT: Completed hardcore mode with the achievement. Seems if you really just want that achievement, it's easy to forget all side missions and just push through and go for it. Shortest FNV game of all time. I completed and moved on to a new game and character and looking forward to going through the DLC's again.

    Yep this method still works Dooby, I just did it flawlessly. A couple of the other methods have been patched. Mainly the method where you stealth boy forward, to the left of the elevator (Elijah's right side) and enter before the force field activates. I have max stealth, and even in the dark with a stealth boy activated, the shield goes up. It was a good method a year or so ago before the patches removed the stealth boys from the vault, and the security senses you. Don't know how it can sense you when it's turned off. The guy's stealth tutorial is still a great way to get past all the traps and security though, even though the end is patched. It looked like a great way to quickly escape. In the end, the explosives method worked for me. I left mass junk in the safe near the elevator door, and at a Villa garbage can. With all 37 gold bars, once I regained the loot from the safe and garbage can, I left with 3,075/340 weight. The explosives I used were 1 demolition charge, 5 frag mines, and 5 gas bombs. In stealth, press up against the force field, and it worked first time. This time I got all the Dead Man's Hand cards, as well as Dean's Stashes again. It seemed a lot easier with skills maxed, and especially stealth. Finally have all the snow globes back at the Lucky 38, and a great answer to an old question: ED-E is not hostile after completion. I don't know how people discover these weaknesses without insider info, guess it must be trial and error knowing Fallout bugs with force fields.
  15. Dude, LA county alone is bigger than many east coast states. You can drive through the valley and go through a dozen cities. Quite a few on the west side as well, which is obviously included in the game since you can see Venice Beach and Santa Monica. I hated driving from San Jo to LA, it's not anything like the relationship in SA that San Fierro was so close to LS. Silicon Valley is an hour south of San Francisco. LA is at the fastest at least 6-7 hours drive south of San Jo. It's not known for it's wineries, except for Almaden. Wine country is Napa Valley and Central California. The wineries I saw in LA were in the Los Feliz, Glendale, Burbank area. The game could easily be centered in one basic area of LA. To all the people that are mentioning earthquakes, that is how San Andreas got it's name - it's the big fault in California. I was around for the Loma Prieta quake in SF, bit not the big Northridge quake in LA.
  16. When it got banned here I had this fucked up Russian crack that had the executions cut out. Couldn't understand anything like. @Cyantist: You need to get the original Manhunt. Uncut version. It is one of the best games I've ever played. I might load it up on my PC again soon. That would be great for a lot of screen shots. Mainly, it is great to play, quite challenging, and there really is nothing like it. I never really cared for the story in Manhunt 2. The original is king.

  18. I've been to the Griffith Observatory once. Just a coincidence that a friend wanted to go. Rarely did the tourist thing. Lived all over LA, but my favorite place was Venice Beach. The Greek Theater in Glendale / Los Feliz is a good venue to see concerts. Outdoor amphitheater. Worked in Hollywood, sleaziest place on the planet. When San Andreas came out in 2004, I made a lot of comparisons. It was pretty fun. R* does a good job.
  19. No, they don't. California, Mexico, New York, Amsterdam, Thailand, Jamaica...all straight weed. No one mixes tobacco with it that I've seen, except when I was in England.

    @analogkid2112: I was just going to say that - bOnEs beat me to it. There are a couple of interesting side quests tied to the BoS, plus they have an awesome safe house loaded with stuff. Veronica at the I-88 market place on the over pass can get you in, and the other bunkers have hard locks to pick, but mini-nukes in every one. She also carries crafting benches around with her, pretty useful for a girl. Veronica also has a mission, like all the companions. One ending presents the best visual confrontation between the courier and the BoS in the game. Killing House has a Yes Man string of missions, but the BoS has cool stuff and side quests. @assknuckle: Everyone gets the Luck 8 ball in FO3 as far as I know...I've had it on all my plays through that game.
  21. I saw what is definitely a representation of Venice Beach in the trailer. Unmistakable, and different than Santa Monica Beach. The architecture, boardwalk buildings, archways. it's also been the background in many films. Since I lived in the Viz for awhile, I'll surely be checking it out.

    To get 100% completion you will need 130/130 in the Obsessive Compulsive stat. I finally got the achievement for this last night, here is everything I kept notes on. Quick Break Down: Wellspring Every available storyline mission 11/18 Jumps 13/19 Schematics 6/9 Job board missions 43/54 Rage Frenzy Cards 3/4 Mini-Games (First round only) Stanley's 3 Delivery Missions First Place, All Races Subway Town Every available storyline mission 7/18 Jumps 6/19 Schematics 3/9 Job board missions 11/54 Rage Frenzy Cards 1/4 Mini-Games, first round First Place, All Races ----------------------------------------------- Detailed Break Down: Complete every storyline mission available. Note that some side quests are only available during certain missions. Example being the Ramos mission in Outrigger Settlement. Complete his mission, and also obtain a card and a schematic by doing this mission. Before entering Wellspring, the Outrigger Settlement closes, and never re-opens. I missed this side quest on my first play-through. Mini-Games: Five Finger Fillet (Round 1) Available in both Wellspring and Subway Town. Rage Frenzy (easy also counts) Available in both Wellspring and Subway Town. Tombstone (Kill all mutants atleast once) Available in both places but dissappears near game end. Strum (Round 1) Available only in Subway Town, and dissappears near game end. Tombstone and Strum dissappear actually, after accepting the final mission from Portman. I missed doing Strum on my first play-through. Stanley's 3 Delivery Missions: Stanley 's Delivery Missions are available in Wellspring only. These will dissappear once the Authority move in, so they must be done before that. I missed doing the 3rd delivery on my first play through due to this. First place in all races, both Wellsprings and Subway Town: Note the Subway Town races are closed after accepting the final mission from Portman, and must be completed before this. I missed one of the final races due to this on my first play through. Sides quests: Richard's quest in Wellspring's bar. (Health / Scavenging) Ramos in the Outrigger settlement (Must be completed before unlocking Wellspring) Both races against Starky (1 in Wellspring, 1 in Subway Town) Norbu in Subway Town. (Health / Scavenging) Dietrich - The Distillery Job Board Missions: Must complete all 9 standard missions. The Sewer Missions do not affect stats because they are DLC's. Only the 2nd level of each sewer mission appear on the job board. Wellspring Missing Person - Return to the Ghost Hideout to find them. Stolen Merchandise - Return to the Wasted Garage for the stolen beer. Mutant Menace - Protect the worker from mutants while water pipes are repaired. Caravan Cover - Protect the Caravan as it heads out of Wellspring from bandits. A Proposition - Leads to RC Prototype - Find the RC Prototype in the Shrouded Bunker. The Exchange - Provide sniper cover for Sheriff Black. Subway Town Bounty Hunter - Stop the thief at the Distillery. Eviction Notice - Evict the Shrouded Clan from the Blue Line Station. Help Wanted - Shut down the Authority's Mobile Generators in the Gearhead Vault. ---------------------------------------------------------- You only need to do Mutant Bash TV for the race sponsorship storyline mission. While you can re-do the game anytime, and for the $750 achievement, it's not required as returning multiple times did nothing for my stats. It's just a fun way to make money. The Feltrite Meteor Shower road collection, Sally's Bounty, and Brick's Bounty, are on-going mini-games that did not affect my stats. The 3 Field Goals did not change my stats, nor did beating Teague's hardest deck for those achievements. Each time I won a mini-game basic first round, I noticed a stat point. The other rounds are for achievements. You should have at least 128/130 going into Capitol Prime. In my case the achievement went off after the last jump, before I even physically went in to the Prime complex. Going in, I needed the last 2 jumps, and the last card, all 3 are only found in the last section of the game. While I did everything available, one of the best findings was the DOOM Bobblehead worth a fortune, in the secret DOOM room in the Gearhead Vault. That brought the total Bobblehead count up to 3. Good to sell. By far the best way to max out your money to $9999 is to buy Viper Rockets from Stew in Subway Town, and sell them back to the girl in the Subway Town Shop. Then you can buy all the ammo and supplies you'll ever need in the game. Although I was a Road Warrior so I did it twice, for vehicle ammo.

    I haven't tried Nightmare yet for that mission. Wonder if it would be any better.... Just finished the races with all gold for my 100% game. I'm now at 124/130 Obsessive Compulsive and haven't even done the last few missions. Need the last 2 jumps (last mission) and the last 4 cards (last 2 missions) Forgot that you get the achievement "rage cup", and that was a welcomed surprise. For whatever it's worth, the bang for the buck ends at the races for me. Easily, the hardest part of the game. The rocket rallies are 10x harder than actual racing. If only the storyline was about 50 hours longer. I'll be going back to Fallout New Vegas after this, to do a Hardcore Game. That is unless of course anyone can convince me that Skyrim is as cool as Fallout. I've never liked those fantasy / castle / elf type games, but someone might be able to convince me.
