Thought I would create a poll to see what everyone's favourite GTA is from this site?

Mine personally is Vice City, just due to the character you play, and the atmosphere that surrounds the game.

Hard to say, they all have their good parts, but overall i'd have to say GTA 3, that kept me playing for months on end

Was gonna go with either GTA3: Liberty City or GTA3: San Andreas. Went with San Andreas, even though i didn't finish the story line for that one.

Go finish it, one of the best storylines for a GTA game ever, albeit a little corny.

For me it's got to be GTAIII, purely for the fact it was completely different from anything else and everything I'd dreamt of in a game. The feeling that someone had created a game that I had wished for was amazing. Haven't played it in years and don't really want to because the graphics and being unable to jump etc would disappoint me. I like my memories of it, and that's good enough for me.

After much deliberation, I went with San Andreas, because of the size and amount of features. I have finished them all from the very first through to Episodes though, with the exception of GTA: Advance. I like each game for different reasons; the first two and London for breaking the mould as far as open world gaming goes, the third for raising the bar yet again, Vice City for the atmosphere, VCS & LCS (conspicuous by their absence) were both nice to be able to revisit their settings and again, were pretty revolutionary in terms of handheld gaming, San Andreas for the above mentioned reasons, GTA4 and The Episodes mainly just because I was already hooked on GTA and Chinatown Wars because I got hooked on the drug dealing and spent countless hours on it before my DS (which I bought specifically for this game) got stolen.

As i've always said; GTA III for being the game that made it what it is, and also for the gritty, contemporary atmosphere, VC for the setting and SA for the gameplay. I have a lot of love for the original Grand Theft Auto though.

So my final choice is GTA Vice City, as my username would suggest.

The problem is that once you get to the point where you have to take over the gang territories it gets annoying.

Bloody 'ell that's not even a third of the way into the game. What's the point in getting it when you're missing out on 70% of the story (and as a consequence of that most of the clothing, weapons and other customisable stuff that made the game great.)

The first time or the second time? I won't even bother with turf wars the first time around because I know I'm just going to have to do it again later.

The second time... i didn't like it the first time and didn't feel like doing it all over again.

wow, i think san andreas takes the win for me, with GTAIV and the episodes in a very close second... there was more to do in san andreas and it was easy to get lost in the world... i found myself dicking around a lot in san andreas... but, IV introduced online and 3 really epic stories that intertwined into the main plot... and by far the funnest driving mechanics EVER!!

I feel like playing San Andreas.

You guys have this sort of influence over me. When someone starts talking about any of the old GTA games, i get the urge to play it. I tend to do one or two missions, then mess around a bit then get bored, but the nostalgia is awesome!

I still have a group of files saved at the start of each stage of the game, so if I want to play a specific set of missions, I can go right to them instead of starting a new game.

i did that as well with san andreas, on a smaller scale of course... i have a save right before the casino heist, before the pot burning mission, and one right before the catalina missions since i really enjoyed her missions... with GTAIV, i have a save right before the bank robbery, and one saved before the big decision at the end... i do that too but, only for a few select missions...

dammit, now i want to play san andreas too!!...

Nobody voted for IV. It did lack a certain charm the previous generation of games had i'll admit.

Yup. Something about it seemed really sterile. And the game world was wasted. For example, the train/subway network was massive, and yet it was barely used in the story. San Andreas had a similar problem, but the world was much bigger, so that could be excused.

Anyway, I gave my vote to Vice City, as i think it got the GTA formula just right. VCS would have been equally as good if it had been designed for the PS2 in the first place.
