    Fallout

I'm stuck using companions as my strength is 5 and I took Small Frame as a trait, so I have massively reduced carry capacity. It is funny that when you meet Ian he mentions he was injured defending a caravan. I suspect he simply stood uncomfortably close to someone until they shot him, as I did.

FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCKKKKK! Finally found the time to play Fallout. Was in Vault 15, and foolishly hadn't saved since I was in Vault 13, when my inbred companion blocked me in a corner. There is no way to make him move. I am stuck. I ended up shooting him in the groin and quitting. Ehhhh, guess I'll reload...again.
  3. I think half the Goldens I meet are called Bella. Candy is losing her hearing...yelling CANDY in the park makes me look like a paedophile.

I was going to ask if that was a vault suit. bOnEs is basically my hero now.

    Fallout

Yeah it is..Bethesda only ships to the US, and the Aussie retailers I've found want $100 for a bunch of games I already own, sometimes multiple copies. But that Mini Nuke....

Guessing it was a limited run?

Yeah, it is. A lot more strategy rather than pure action. I'm now really jealous I didn't grab the anthology.

2 and NV are my favourite Fallout games, followed by 1. My main issue with 3 is that it feels like a spin off. It's the Fallout world, but it has nothing to do with the Fallout narrative. NV was much better narrative wise as it referenced the rather significant events of 1 and 2 (Navarro, The Master etc). So I'd advise you play through 1, or at least read the events of the game and you absolutely have to play 2. Great game.

It's well worth it. And perhaps after playing it, you won't think I'm such a crazy person for preferring NV. Although I am a crazy person.

    Fallout

Ever played it before? It's great, but uhhh....quite different to 3 or NV. Also frustrating as the interface is hardly user friendly. But shooting people in the groin and eyes is very satisfying. Haven't tried modding myself, it looks hard.
  11. Late to the party, but sorry for your loss, Bones. It's fucking tough. This was Buzz. Greatest dog you could hope for. He passed over Easter this year. I have two new Goldens now, but I don't have any photos on my PC so I will post them tomorrow or something. Edit: Who am I kidding? I have nothing else to do. Candy (front) is 11, and her daughter Bella is 6.

I know you guys are really hyped for 4 but I'm worried. I'm yet to play a game in a series where the simplification is a positive. I understand the production costs are huge and as such they need to sell a lot of copies, but by pandering to idiots with almost no attention span the game itself gets hurt. Saw the same thing happen to Mass Effect, where it was basically a third person shooter by ME3. Maybe I just like things to be complicated and hard to understand. Or perhaps I just hate change (this is true). Anyway. I forgot to save, so I have to start Fallout again, but I'm already having fun shooting rats in the eye. I don't remember much of the game as it's been a while, so I'm playing sensibly. Next character will be a chick with no intelligence who runs around the Wasteland punching people in the dick. She'll be too stupid to find the water chip (and too stupid to understands Mentats) so I can only see good things coming from it.

Great, Skyrim style perks. I want my skills, dammit. Really struggling to get into FO3. Think I'll start Fallout tonight instead.

    Fallout

I assumed Strength helped with HP and as a hoarder, I like to carry as much as possible, which is why I try to get that as high as possible... I like to try to get as much HP as possible because I am quite useless at combat... As a completionist, this game is frustrating as hell... I have somehow ended up with some NCR fame, which I am hoping doesn't automatically shut the door on doing a few tasks for the Legion... Also, where do I find Boone if I don't automatically recruit him as a companion? Nah, Endurance governs HP. Strength is for melee damage and carry weight. I use the strong back perk to compensate for my low carry weight. NCR fame shouldn't stop you doing Legion tasks, unless you're vilified. It all gets reset at a certain part of the story, so you can always change allegiances. And Boone should be in Novac, guarding the dinosaur at night.

Still no Dogmeat... In NV I rolled something like: S - 4 P - 6 E - 7 C - 1 I - 8 A - 6 L - 7 Assuming that adds up. Perception may have been 5. I've been told I build weird, though. It all depends how you want to play. Unless you're going melee I'd drop your strength down from 7/8. Charisma is a totally useless stat in the game, as with high intelligence you get more than enough skill points to max speech. If I had my time over I'd drop my perception lower again, as when wearing a hat and with ED-E's sensor perk it was actually too high for my liking, as enemies appeared on my radar at a great distance so I had no idea how close they actually were. I always load up on luck as it influences critical chance, all your skills and I think some of the random items you find. Also, having high luck is useful in the casinos. If you want to do anything I'd drop strength (you can still have it higher than 4, I travel light) and charisma and put it into endurance (who doesn't like health?) and luck. Also don't forget certain perks have a SPECIAL requirement, so if you have your heart set on one of them keep it in mind when building.

I'm positive he didn't die as I was in Rivet City when he went missing. Not sure why it bothers me, as his favourite game to play was "charge the minigun", so I'd have to reload to keep this jerk of a dog alive. I'm hoping you were stoned, Jizzy, otherwise I'll find Dogmeat's corpse leaning on a rock surrounded by dead rope toys or something,

^FUCKYOUFUCKYOUFUCKYOUFUCKYOUFUCKYOU! Dogmeat wandered off and I haven't seen him since. I haven't gotten a message saying he's dead...he's just gone. Might have to try using the console to get him back. Can't remember what I was up to last time I played, and I am enjoying it, but this games setting makes no sense in the wider Fallout world. I mean, the BoS are all happy and welcoming, when they're meant to be techno-hoarding jerks. The Enclave is mysteriously back again. Despite the NCR spreading through the Wasteland and rediscovering technology, cities in DC are protected from Raiders by bits of metal. Where Super Mutants have a complex history and they've developed beyond being mindless savages without The Master to guide them, we are back to "huuuuuuuurrrrrrr mutants". It feels like an adventure game with a Fallout skin. Despite the hate NV got, I feel it captured the Fallout "feel" much better. Also, it's been 200 years since the bombs fell...why is there still tonnes of loot in every building? Wouldn't they have been stripped bare like in NV? I can't find the article unfortunately, but I'm led to believe Fallout 3 was initially meant to occur much closer to Fallout, which would make a lot more sense.

Yeah it's fucking gross... but my tolerance for transgender freakery is pretty low... For relevance, I've arrived at the Mojave Outpost and about to go see what's happening in Nipton... the factions thing is going to do my head in... It's not too bad. Aside from a couple where you pick one or the other the majority of factions are independent of one another. I made it to Rivet City. Everyone here is a jerk. I'd shoot them all, but I'm sure most will be essential characters. Anyway, to continue with the survival guide I need to go into the other bit of the ship which has Mirelurks in it, so I may hold off for the minute. I'm thinking I'll either go to GNR, or possibly do Operation: Anchorage to get it out of the way. Also I seem to recall if grants you Power Armour training.

I was outrunning them as my SPECIAL is pretty great, but I was still using stimpacks like a fiend, and I can't afford to buy more. Honestly, my face during the whole incident was similar to the pregnant dwellers running from mole rats in Fallout Shelter...except I cried more. I'm thinking of giving you guys a photo journal of my experiences, as it's been pretty funny so far. I spend most of my time running away or hiding...who doesn't wanna see that? I'll complete this thought when I'm somewhat sober, but I haven't played Fallout 3 since it was released. I remember I had a brilliant time. I ignored New Vegas until a month or so ago. No idea why. Since then I've been playing Fallout almost exclusively (the odd game of cricket interrupts me) and I have to say...Fallout 3 makes absolutely no sense in the Fallout world. NV fucking kills it (although I'm biased toward Obsidian. Fuck I love their games) but it also has little to do with Fallout 1 and 2. It just...doesn't fit. Anyway, when I sober up I'll give you guys a proper explanation of why NV kills 3. I'm not schizophrenic.

Hooray! It's started crashing lots. Between dodging super mutants, crashing, and having to reload because I keep forgetting to leave Dogmeat in Megaton as the fucker goes out of his way to get killed, I'm never going to reach Rivet City. Dunno why I was heading there, either. Still haven't been to GNR. Thinking about it I may have forgotten to install the 4gb patch...hopefully that's it. Bones: The Mirelurk part of the survival guide went really well for me. Ran out of stealth boys, then couldn't find the exit and was chased around by 5 Mirelurks for a while until I finally got out. Only to be attacked by one outside the door. I survived...just. It was hilarious when I told Moira that the Mirelurks were "none the wiser". They were pretty angry at me. Edit: Ok just loaded my save. Thought I was cowering outside a mutant camp. I load and there's a bunch of dead mutants and I have a minigun. I need to stop drinking, I have no idea how this happened.

Took me about 120 hours when I last played through. I did basically every quest too. I'm hoping Primm Slim is the new sheriff... I'd forgotten how much harder 3 starts than NV. I got jumped by Super Mutants as I tried to get to the metro tunnel to get to GNR, and had to run away. Currently hiding in Megaton.
