  1. I'm usually pretty reserved when it comes to waiting, but am I the only who who feels like November 21 feels like the release date for the game? I know it's not, but GI announcing the cover and article more than a month in advance is like they're releasing a game. We really are hungry for info...
  2. It's been a slow news week for Rockstar this week (15th-19th). I'm really really hoping now we'll hear something related either on Friday or Monday. (Fingers crossed)
  3. If GTA had animals that could be killed, I'm pretty sure the game would be banned. One of the reasons Postal had such a hard time was because of the animal cruelty aspect. GTA also has a long standing controversy with a lot of media outlets, so increasing the cruelty potential would be a bad move. It worked in RDR because of the hunting aspect and time period context. There were pigeons in LA Noire, but they only ever flew away if you drove near them. It's weird that we can get away with murdering humans in a video game, but not animals. This is a fact of life, though. Animal cruelty is accepted in movies, so I image it'd pass over to games. I'm not sure that animals in GTA free-roam would fly with the censors, so maybe they'd only appear in cutscenes and unreachable areas. But maybe Rockstar will say "Fuck it" and throw a whole heap of animals in to ramp up the controversy again. I don't mind what they do, I just don't want to see the game get banned before I can play it. We'll see what they do soon enough, I guess...
  4. Luis Lopez wasn't Hispanic enough for you?
  5. They've sort of touched on this in previous Rockstar titles, but wouldn't it be fun if you could book hotel suites in addition to your safehouses? Say you were a long drive from your safehouses and you want to save your game real quick, or you're near the start of the game and your safehouses a very few and in between (and buying new ones are too expensive early on). You could just pop into a nearby hotel and pay between $100-$1000 to rent a room for the night. Much cheaper than buying a house just to save, and great if you don't have that much money. The hotels could be varying levels of luxury, from a dive-motel to a 5-star suite. Each room would be fitted with a bed to save, a TV and maybe a laptop. In a typical GTA style, you could also bring a hooker back to the room instead of just banging in the car... They had something similar in Read Dead, where you could rent out basic beds (a shed and a tent) for $5 a night, which was handy if you didn't have a safehouse nearby or a campsite. In SA, they had a few hotel suites, but you could buy them outright as safehouses, but I always thought it would be cooler if you just rented them.
  6. Oh yeah, now I remember they never released an anniversary edition on PC and consoles, I just wanted them to. Well, maybe they should with VC?
  7. Maybe something that could be useful after all the pieces are collected, like the rubber bands in Bully that became a rubber band ball. Hmmm, maybe some kind of gun (wait, Max Payne had collectable guns...) I never saw the Seagulls and Pigeons coming as a collectable in GTA IV, so who knows what direction they could go this time...
  8. I don't mind playing as Ned Luke's character. I'm sure Rockstar will put a special spin into it none-the-less.
  9. Just like a GTA mission, some find them easy while others find them hard.
  10. It's only a couple of weeks away at this point... What do you think they'll do to celebrate this time? A remastered version for PC, console and mobile devices like GTA III? An expanded version? (Unlikely) And anyone want to bet when they'll announce the anniversary? Mid-next week (16-20th?) or later? I think we'll hear something for sure on the 22nd.
  11. I have this on Xbox 360 in Australia (two copies, actually), and yes, it is glitchy. There's a part in the middle of the game that you can't get past without a patch, and even with it, some of the game has some large glitches. I do really like Bully, but I don't like it more than any other Rockstar title. For me, there are too many fetch-quest missions, and there seems to be more side-missions than story missions, and Jimmy Hopkins is pretty unlike-able for a lot of the game. And I've never seen so many LOADING screens in a Rockstar game before! But there is a lot of fun to be had in the game, and it does take a fair while to beat. Orphan Fingerbang, just ask EB Games or something to order it in from stock HQ. I've done that with a lot of older games that I've needed to replace lately.

  13. They haven't. And it might not be. Look at the first trailer for RDR...
  14. Does anyone actually care what other people's opinions are in asking this question? If someone posts something that's contrary to what you're doing, you'll disagree and vice versa. I suppose that's the whole point of opinions... Yes, I will be pre-ordering GTAV, as I did with all of Rockstar's next-gen titles in the past, because I enjoy the extra stuff they give away with it and I always get to play the game 48 hours before the official release that way (I have a few old school friends who work at some game stores ). And to that guy who was moaning about how he doesn't enjoy any GTA game after San Andreas all I have to say is... You clearly like GTA enough to be following GTAV, and plenty of people like GTAIV (and the other GTA games released after 2004...)
  15. Yeah I was also thinking that. In that case, we'll be seeing some info straight from Rockstar within 3-4 weeks. I hate to burst your bubble of joy so soon, but I highly doubt that Rockstar will release any V info before the release of the magazine. Game Informer is relying on the fact that they're releasing the first real info on the game, so if Rockstar released a whole heap of new screens, info and videos before that, it'd undermine GI article, making it pointless and potentially making GI very cross at Rockstar.
  16. Need I remind anyone that the voice in the trailer is Ned Luke? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hta-r5RPtRo And I don't understand why everyone make him out to be so OLD. The guy in the trailer looks about 38-45 to me. Johnny Klebitz was 38 and Toni Cipriani was hardly a spring chicken either... Well, if the guy in the trailer (Ned Luke's character) is the protagonist, it may place his age at around 54 (Ned's age). Also, why are people still insisting of this CJ returning thing?! Since when do Rockstar bring back the same protagonists in GTA? And if they did bring him back, he would be around 44! (Presuming he was 23 in San Andreas) In fact, he would be older than Dwayne Forge! "Yay, they brought back CJ. But they've made him all old..."
  17. I have the GTA IV Game Informer 10-page preview from 2007 on my lap. They didn't get to play the game themselves at that point, but it may be different this time. Also, I recall from the LA Noire gameplay previews that when the reviewers played the game themselves, they always had a Rockstar rep standing by them to offer any info or assistance.
  18. It's not really a spoiler for them. All that happens is that a Rockstar rep will play through 20 mins or half an hour of the game, showcasing a mission that highlights the basic game features. In GTAIV it was the missions where Niko killed the Lawyer, Tom Goldberg, and killed the man with the cell phone. They also revealed that the main character was Niko, he lived with his Cousin, Roman, and the year was 2008. In the demo of the missions, the names in the cell phone were changed to avoid spoilers, simply listing them as "Docks Contact" or "Taxi Contact" ect. In Max Payne 3, they tested the stadium level in its entirety. So, more or less they reveal things that will happen, but nothing that impacts largely on the main storyline. After the demo by the Rockstar rep, the magazine reviewers are usually allowed to play the game in free-roam for about 15-20 minutes each. So, these demos are pretty much the same as gameplay videos for regular games, yet as we know, Rockstar never releases raw gameplay footage, because they'd rather show off the game with flashy trailers and nice pictures. I like that
  19. Allow me to pick apart your hates for fun... I rest my abuse.
  20. They all look like the same car to me. Maybe they just had different builds as the game develops. - Actually, I see the differences now.
  21. Any theories on how (if the theory of multiple protagonists is correct) Rockstar will implement the characters into the game? Do you think you'll select a character to play as at the title screen (ala EFLC), then play their portions of the story, dynamically affecting the game for the other characters as you play. Or do you think you'll jump back and forth between characters (ala Max Payne 2, and other Rockstar games that I don't want to spoil) throughout the story. I personally think that this would be messy in an open world GTA game. OR do you think that you'll be able to have an overarching protagonist, but with supporting playable characters (ala Scarface:TWIY) that you can choose at will to fulfil certain jobs in a large criminal empire. In Scarface, Tony Montana was the main story character, but you had the option to hire other playable characters to do menial tasks that wouldn't be appropriate for Tony to do himself, but they would still make money for Tony in the long run. So essentially, if you needed to take out an enemy gang or steal a car, you could send in a playable thug to do it, and you wouldn't risk loosing money or respect if it went bad. I personally think that the last option would work the best in GTA if the theory on multiple protagonists was true. Just imagine, your main character is the older Italian man, but he just runs the empire. He takes care of the big important work, but say he needs to get some menial task done or a task with high risk, such as killing gang members, stealing/robbing or even being hired muscle: he could simply whip out his phone, select the desired character in the contacts, call him up and say "Hey, I need you to do this." Then WHOOSH, we're playing as that contact. And to add extra fun, each contact has their own safehouses and wardrobe, so you can customise each one as you see fit, or run around in free-roam as them. Why not? I'm getting so excited about this idea now, that I think I'll be upset if it's not in GTAV! What do you think?
