  1. CVG doesn't fair much better. Maybe it's a 3-letter thing with gaming media...
  2. I mentioned the airport from whichever character trailer. Dup pointed out the pic from the gameplay trailer showing what is very likely the military base at that location. The Marine helicopter shown in that area is pretty much confirming it.
  3. I've seen a few people comment about buying or taking over properties ("empires" as you put it) and role playing. It just doesn't work well in a game that isn't an MMORPG or similar. The main problem is that free roam sessions are not enduring. That "world" where you did a bunch of stuff only exists while you are there. Once everyone leaves that world is gone and everything is reset. Sure they could give every Crew their own session to keep (which I find unlikely for various reasons) and then you'd have to allow another crew to come in and fight for territory. But that's pointless to a degree where you might as well just start a fresh free roam session so everyone has a fair chance. It would be ridiculously easy to take over the whole map while the other Crew isn't online or has very few players (derp). I think there could be some areas to take over and defend during a session (like RDR's Land Grab) but nothing permanent as explained above. I would expect gang hideouts (computer controlled) more, though. As for roleplaying itself that's left up to the fans to decide. GTA isn't a roleplaying game and I hope it never becomes one. Having the option to do so is fine but not something to be forced upon players. Maybe one day Rockstar will have something like APB that works. I'm sure Rockstar has some cool Crew features for GTA V and beyond but not a whole new genre. It's still going to be Grand Theft Auto.
  4. I don't see squat so it's not something permanent. Anyone else seeing it?
  5. Is that actually updated or did you just post the same thing that's been going around the past few months?
  6. The actual limited edition of the game comes with its own lithograph. Separate from the strategy guide offer. Also, GameStop apparently isn't the only retailer in the US offering the lithograph with guides. Added a list at the bottom of the news article.
  7. Fan-created Crews are limited to 300. The others (Rockstar or affiliates such as GameStop, etc) appear to be unlimited.
  8. Security features that are years and years old aren't very secure anymore? I thought all those updates to firewalls were just to fix spelling mistakes...
  9. I have no doubts that they traveled around Southern California. It's more of a question "Did they fuck up or did they fill in a few things that they wanted?"
  10. The two black house icons in this screencap are in Vespucci (basically Venice irl, near Franklin's weed shop). Franklin's house isn't even shown on the radar which would be right above the white gun range icon.
  11. Okay, I'm convinced Rockstar has either accidentally used structures [far] outside of Southern California or they are really stretching their "reimagination" of it. First is the rail bridge. Since the first screenshot of it the only match I found was one in Canada - a very good match. I had searched Google 10 different ways for a rail bridge in Southern California and it actually popped up in the image results for "truss arch rail bridge california". The real bridge is Stoney Creek Bridge in British Columbia: Now here's what I was looking at just now. In this next screencap you can see a motel in the background (individual yellow boxes with the letters and some signage under it including a red arrow). Searching Google for "route 66 motel california" brings up an image of an almost exact motel sign for Glancy Motel which is on historic Route 66. The problem is that it's in Oklahoma. There have been a few others that I can't think of off-hand where a similar structure was a little far from Southern California. /rant
  12. It's quite different than Photoshop. It takes a little more time to make something but usually easier to alter things afterward. I actually made a GTA IV-style version of the GTA V map pretty quickly since it's easier to alter colors.
  13. Definitely translated. Still some interesting tidbits, though, like the pet ownership and selling meat to Burger Shot.
  14. Inkscape. I make .svg files so I can basically zoom in or make a huge image if I wanted. I started using Inkscape a couple years ago when I started making this.
