That's because the multiplayer is the biggest issue for me. I'm happy with the world, it definitely looks more interesting than 4's - more colourful, more varied - my only gripe is it may be laid out in such a way as to accommodate a multiplayer game with arbitrary hard areas of the map you need to level up to explore. Story, again, is tied into multiplayer somewhere down the line, don't see how we can get quests if there are no npcs to give us them. Enemies look interesting but again, a lot seem to have been added just to fill a big MMO style boss criteria that you need to group up to take down, like the scorchbeast. I like the majority of them though.

Still doesn't sound like a solution, that would kill a stealth character build; "some guy lurking in a bush wants to snipe you, do you accept?"

Yeah I was sad when they said you'd see blips, why I made that post. In my mind if you have no blips it's going to be a lot of random chance for you to get sniped, and if you are it'd be easier for you to slip away from your attacker (assuming you are in part of the map that has a bit of cover.) It's more tactical too, people would find you based on how much noise you are making so if you're shooting a lot you'd expect to get shot more often yourself. My experience in GTAO watching people on the map engaging in gunfights is that they always head straight for the same person as soon as they respawn, they check the map and see where they are to go and kill them repeatedly.

Easiest way to minimise people actively seeking out others would be to not have their blips on the map, said this about GTA long ago. Perhaps have a system where you can request to see someone's blip (assuming they're of legal age of course,) and you can accept or deny the request.

Aha, we have something in common... let's fuck.

Question is will the codes be quest items that can't be removed from your inventory, or could you craftily hide it in an obscure container somewhere to stop others stealing it. Todd said you don't lose items on death, so how then do others acquire the codes from you?

Dunno how storing stuff in your bases is going to work, surely people can still raid your containers and leave you with nothing. I don't like the idea of carrying everything I own and being encumbered.

    Fallout

Well i'm already debating whether to trademark the name "Brotherhood of Leets" assuming it's not already taken; uniform will be T-51 power armour in matte pink with the crotch cut out for easy teabagging. Prospective members must adopt a Russian accent, shout down their mics and shoot everything that moves, especially if that thing says "i'm friendly!"

I'm in the salty but undecided camp, like I said before I will probably get it because I like Fallout. But not at release, there's a lot of uncertainty surrounding the game. Bethesda titles are buggy enough in single player and I dread to think what a multiplayer experience will be like.

Hi! (Also bye.) I think the guy in Fallout 4 selling charge cards was a test for multiplayer, that'll be their version of shark cards. *mutters*retard.
  11. "But think of what you can spend that 1,000,000 GTAO dollars on!" - Some rep at R*, circa 2018

I still find it odd that as little as 6 months ago they were preaching about saving single player gaming and their next big announcement is "hey, here's some multiplayer." Why bother with the #SavePlayer1 thing at all? (I think that's the first time i've ever used a hashtag.)

    Fallout

He said you can do quests solo so that must mean there are questgivers there to give quests. Quite.

    Fallout

Was thinking that myself. If you build a settlement somewhere and you join a lobby where someone else has built at the same spot? If you build in a spot and join a lobby where that area is nuked to fuckery? Ze questions are endless...? ?? ???

    Fallout

I'm pretty neutral about the whole thing, I will probably pick it up and enjoy it for a few hours but I don't think i'll be as invested in the world as I would be if it was SP. At least the map looks more exciting than 4's.

    Fallout

Yep, i'm with you pretty much, pointless back and forth gun battles with random people isn't my idea of fun. Still i'm interested to see how i'd fare against PVP pros since i've spent so many years playing Fallout 4 and know the weapon characteristics well. Funny that we have two games now that feature single player weapon mechanics that I can't see transitioning into an online world smoothly. (Deadeye in RDRII and VATS in this.)

    Fallout

He says yeah you can play solo but in a world tailored to an online experience will it feel dead and devoid of life if you choose to play that way. Think it's running on the same engine as 4 too, which makes me think we'll have massive frame drops in high poly areas and the usual assortment of bugs. Oh and there are super mutants, so somebody must have some FEV somewhere.

Dozens of players could mean anything less than 100 really, but I expect it to be around 32 ish similar to GTAO. The difference is you won't have some cunt flying around in a Hydra or Oppressor. The nuke thing instantly made me think of the orbital laser in GTAO, but it seems to be like loot drops in Rust where you can acquire rare items if you can prepare yourself. I'm interested in playing it but I know I shouldn't be as it really doesn't benefit me to play solo, everything is an uphill struggle when you have to defend yourself against a group of five children squealing "lzzzzzz" down their mics or whatever it is the kids say nowadays, too much of that and it kills your interest in a game. Wasn't keen on the dragon creature either, it made it seem too MMOey.
  19. ViceMan

    Fallout

Eh, i've always hated multiplayer games, I go solo wherever possible. I have played a bit of Rust but I never really got involved in any extended combat, I just built up my base, stashed some weapons and eventually got offline raided. I'm willing to give this a go though, maybe not at release.

I hope it has working lights and sound effects.

Bethesda definitely engage with their audience more and actually seem to get excited by their own creations, which in turn passes on that positivity to the playerbase.
  22. ViceMan

    Fallout

R*s hype train goes something like - first carriage all bells and whistles, neon lights and pink rims, next 24 carriages are empty flatbeds then another carriage of screenshots and wonder at the rear. Bethesda's is more like a bullet train with a crude, barely-dry painted message on the side of it saying "here I am!" as it speeds through the station.
  23. ViceMan

    Fallout

Yeah like I said it seems like Bethesda are going against what is considered the norm so I wouldn't put it past them to skip the long hype train, titles like Fallout and ES don't actually need a hype train anyway.
  24. "Bonus online content" to start off with, then bullion bags (henceforth referred to as "Bull Bags") will come after a few months weeks.
  25. I don't think i'll bother with preorder bonuses, to be honest you use them for a few hours then they are obsolete as you'll already have something better. The treasure map sounds the most interesting of the lot. Gonna assume Saint Denis is New Bordeaux's new name. Also sad that they're giving GTAO bonuses too, and as always such paltry amounts that won't buy you fuck all.
