  1. Yes. For everyone else that keeps tripping over the concept of time zones, go to this link and plunk in your location. Checked the official site just now and noticed it took about 10 seconds to load. We're an hour out and there are probably already thousands of people staring at the site and hitting F5, F5, F5 expecting something to change...
  2. Hope their beard textures are better than their trees. I'm out of likes for the day, but this literally made me laugh out loud.
  3. Could actually be an effort to limit the traffic. If I remember correctly, trailer #2 caused intermittent outages on the official site for some of us due to the volume of people trying to hit it when the countdown reached zero. And that was during the week; imagine how much worse the crush would be on a Saturday...
  4. I boldly predict that each trailer will either be more or less than 52 seconds long.
  5. I enjoyed SA precisely because of what R* did with CJ's character. I didn't get all pissy because he wasn't hard enough or gangsta enough - he wasn't supposed to be. R* poked a little fun at the hardcore gangsta culture by making CJ a regular dude with a sense of humor about himself. The contrast was meant to be amusing, and it is. My two cents - I hope that for character development in V they can find a way to balance the light-hearted cartoonish spirit of SA with the storytelling depth of IV. Although judging from this thread, that would piss everybody off...
  6. Official MIcrosoft site has the correct date anyway. These hack "news sites" make up stories to drive ad revenue. Every time one of us clicks one of their links, God kills a puppy. Resist the urge!
  7. Damn, my cover is blown. Time to come clean. I am a R* employee. My official title is "Fan Forum Ramblings Aggregator". My job is to troll around these forums all day looking for ideas to incorporate into our games. See, we at R* don't really know how to make entertaining games, and without these forums, we would be totally out of touch with our fan base. In fact, the real reason GTAV has been delayed is that we are just now finding some really useful ideas, and we want to have time to implement them. Like riding around on elephants, or bringing back Niko (can't believe we didn't think of that!), etc. As long as you guys keep feeding us these inspired ideas, we promise to keep delaying the game!
  8. Gotta disagree. I've always loved the GTA series because I think R* gets the difficulty just right. Any time I play some other game that takes more than 4-5 attempts to pass a mission, I stifle the urge to throw my controller through the TV screen and instead return to the GTA universe. I suppose my preference for moderately easy games qualifies me as a casual gamer. I'm a pissy adult.
  9. Try taking a Honda Civic offroad sometime; you might actually find IV to be rather forgiving in contrast.
  10. You don't remember the year and 12 days between the first and second trailer? A lack of news about GTAV is fairly typical. But normally there is at least some regular chatter on the Newswire and Twitter account about other games, multiplayer events, etc. Total silence for over a month is... unnerving.
  11. The timed exclusive deal reportedly netted a cool $50 million for Rockstar. I'm a PS3 owner, but I'm also a Take-Two Interactive stockholder. If Microsoft is goofy enough to bite again on a sweetheart deal for (non)exclusive content, Rockstar will gladly take their money. And I will gladly play through the single-player campaign a second time while waiting for the content to come to Sony's platform, just like I did while waiting for TLAD/TBOGT.
  12. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Installed_base Learn about the term "install base". Then feel free to revise your opinion.
  13. While I happen to agree, the logic is flawed, since Rockstar also stated that the game was coming in the spring. Damaged credibility invites conspiracy theory.
  14. This is Rockstar, so none of us can really act surprised. I love all the comments on the Newswire: "You just lost a fan! I'm cancelling my pre-order!" Well, no, you're not. V is going to be an epic game, and bouncing it from spring to fall doesn't change that. We're all still going to line up to buy the game, and saying otherwise is disingenuous. I wasn't holding my breath for a spring release. I won't be surprised if it misses the September target, either, wailing and gnashing of teeth notwithstanding.
  15. Could be based on choices the player is forced to make, along the lines of "Kill Playboy X or Dwayne". Different character progression on a different playthrough...
  16. Just a note: @RockstarGames has tweeted thrice in as many hours with a #GTAV hashtag. Their daily average is zero. More info coming? Or just a spirited intern manning the feed today?
  17. A quick vocabulary guide to fanman's post: meel (noun) 1. flour, farina, meal kanta (noun) 1. stem 2. opinion 3. heel (part of a sole of a shoe, especially a low one; a high heel is usually called korko) 4. (microbiology) strain mid evil (adjective) 1. neither low evil nor high evil Otto Nückel (Cologne, 6 September 1888 – Cologne, 12 November 1955) was a German painter, graphic designer, illustrator and cartoonist.
  18. Looks like snow Pretty hard to tell whether it is supposed to be snow or just a lighting thing. Also, be careful drawing conclusions from artwork, it's not the same as a screen shot. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if R* includes some snow in the mountains.
