alrighty then, read up on the gem a bit and realized that even the reward isn't for me... thanks, moving on then ...

i disagree marney... max payne and agent didn't get the trailer treatment years ago when they were announced... GTAV got a trailer announcement, so i think it's coming out before agent because it appears that the map is pretty much done, the hard work is out the way...

so true... --------------------------- fuck riften... i don't like it, it's full of a bunch of thieves and people wanting me to steal, lie and manipulate for their gain... i've turned down about a dozen jobs here because i wasn't going to steal something... there's a few glimmers of hope in this town, but i fear that i can't do anything to help out their situation... needless to say, i will be leaving this town soon for something else... this town isn't for my character... and it seems that i might have to join the thieves guild just to get my unusual gem appraised... and i am not so sure i want to join them, i don't like their values... yup, i am gonna help a few people out and move on... ------------- i'm with you though, darth sexy... i partied hard last night and feel like shit today... i think i just celebrated new years last night... i feel like playing skyrim tonight, drinking is the least of my concerns today ...

i was merely joking, you could be a transvestite for all i care ... i am about to post an updated pic of me soon... my beard is finally starting to look like a beard ...

Stoic knows how the internet works, and he didn't see the picture you posted. His skepticism is understandable. i never saw the photo either... plus, anyone can grab a photo from the internet and say it's them... here's a picture of me before the plastic surgery...

yea, i'm trying to keep the quest list to a minimum... i learned in oblivion how quickly it can become overbearing... maybe that explains my slow movement, i am just pacing myself ... but there's not much i can do about the misc. quest list, half of them involve places far into the north... i am not ready for the north yet... i just find it funny that i've spent pretty much all my free time since christmas playing this game and it feels like i've barely scratched the surface ...

i do walk everywhere, and for the most part, i explore everywhere i discover... i just haven't trekked to the big cities... that's the only thing i feel like i am missing out on... i really enjoyed my time in whiterun, and for the most part, i will be traveling back there often... i guess i am not one to run around all over the place... i like to have direction... ohh well, i am at the front gates to riften, lets see if another 20 hours of quests distract me like they did in whiterun, or if i even care about the local concerns of riften and just leave after taking care of a couple things... i have always been a slower gamer, but i feel like i accomplished a lot back in whiterun... level 16, near 50 on heavy armor and smithing... in the 40's for sneak, over 50 with one-handed, and around 25 for restoration, speech and lockpicking... i just hope that i didn't let the world pass me by while staying there for so long...

i feel like i am missing out on a lot of stuff... at the rate i am going, it's going to take me until april to visit every main city ... @ vice - saving isn't an issue for me, i always have the main save, then the secondary one for when i am out and about exploring caves... the autosave has come in handy a few times already... but even i've noticed an issue with the autosave feature... when i think my game froze up on me, i realize that the game is actually autosaving ...

so those PS3 problems are popping up now for you?? last night i noticed a slight slow down in whiterun, i was just walking around and things started to get a little choppy... i am at level 16, nearly 40 hours played, and the file i think is at 5MB... man, am i playing this game wrong?? i've only just reach the second main city ... i am almost on par with mercedes' stats and she's been all over the map ... i can't figure out why it took me this long to reach another main city... i've visited smaller ones like riverwood, ivarstead, and rorikstead... i just don't know why i am taking my sweet time exploring... perhaps it's because i can ...

people still watch TV?? wow, what a waste of time... there's only two shows i look forward to these days... "2 broke girls" and the new "beavis and butthead", but even those shows are not "MUST WATCH" shows, they're just something to watch when i feel like it... i catch re-runs of the office and big bang theory on TBS too, but that's about it... ohh and sports of course, which is probably the sole reason why i haven't abandoned TV all together... there's too much to see on TV... and the shows i am most interested in are on HBO and showtime... and i am not about to pay an additional $15/month for each individual package... fuck TV, netflix and the internet are my source for TV now... and i am thinking about cancelling my netflix again because i haven't used it in a month... i gotta be the only person in america that's about sick of goddam TV...

i am actually glad the RPG elements have been dumbed down a little... i got too confused trying to play oblivion because i am not an RPG aficionado, and i still don't know how to use spells and potions properly (outside of restoration of course)... i am at the gates of riften... i made the journey late last night... i used an unusual gem as my excuse for trekking all the way there... plus, i wrapped up most of the stuff going on in whiterun... well, there's still the companions and probably a few quests i hadn't started yet, but i think it was time to finally move on...
-
true dat... i'm not even messing with magic all that much to be honest... i'll use oakflesh or my origin power dragonskin, and of course health... my combat skills suffice... BOOOOOOMM!!! HEADSHOT!! i didn't think it was going to happen but i now have a legitimate stealth character... i did a companion quest that i spent most of time killing in silence... it was a very narrow locale so it came in handy, plus i already had a few stealth perks... and damn i am starting to get good at using the bow... it's been a very handy secondary weapon fo sho... but my stealth leveled up by about 6 points in that cave... i have become incredibly lethal all of a sudden, those sneak hit perks deal massive damage on unsuspecting enemies... i killed a bunch of draugr in their resting places without breaking a sweat... snuck up on them and took them out with one swing of the scimitar... time to work on my smithing skills some more... it's pretty low, i'd like to be able to make better stuff...
-
forsworn?? i am level 11 and i massacred them in some camp/cave... at least i think it was forsworn, could of just been bandits... but i got a bunch of forsworn weaponry, in fact, i am using the bow i got down there... can't remember what i was fighting last night though... it probably was the forsworn...

i guess i ought to create a top 5 as well... note that skyrim has been disqualified as i am still playing it... but i think it would be pretty high on this list, maybe not tops, but up there... 1) uncharted 3 2) Saints Row III 3) infamous 2 4) LA noire 5) crysis 2 there's lots of follow up games on that list... while of course i thought uncharted 3 was the best of the best, saints row and infamous really really improved drastically over their predecessor, more so than uncharted 3 did over the 2nd one... more so for infamous 2 though, i thought it just flowed so well, and the boss battles were fun... makes me wonder why there wasn't really any in the 1st one... looking back, the 1st game was rather lackluster now that i think about it... i would love to include games that i played this year that were older titles as i found a few gems out there... and there's still a few games from this year i have yet to check out... i really want to play the new batman and the new assassin's creed but those will have to wait until sometime early next year... hands down though, i think the worst game i played this year was bodycount... i rented it for one night, and took it back immediately... i somehow managed to get 13% of the trophies and all i did was run around shooting nonstop... talk about boring, i can shoot people thru walls in lots of games these days, and games all have destructible environments too... this game thought it was being original but it wasn't even close... honorable mentions for GOTY for me would be "bulletstorm" and "007: bloodstone"... both were good old fashioned fun ...

in fallout, they eventually had to add kiosks at a couple locations so you could bring up a menu that allowed you to fire your companion... people were losing them and not being able to recruit new ones... i never had that problem, and i haven't yet in skyrim since i only have one... but there should be a similar kiosk somewhere in the world... or maybe a bulletin board that allows you to do that... i think a kiosk might be out of place in the medieval times...
-
don't worry viceman, give me a month to play this and i'll be with you... and i do have a social life, but i tend to spend most of my free time playing games ...
-
this is a tough one... i played quite a few good games this year... L.A. Noire was the early front-runner, but i've played better games as the year rolled along... infamous 2 was good, but not GOTY good... crysis 2 kicked ass, and saints row III ended the year on a good note... and i am currently playing skyrim, but i don't think i can call it my game of the year just yet because i am still in the infant stages of it... level 11 and still in the first castle despite 30 hours sunk into it already... so i will give it to the game that continues to amaze me with each release... uncharted 3... this epic adventure really was a fun ride, yet again... it's always fun to be in the shoes of nathan drake ... does DLC count?? because if i counted DLC, fallout new vegas would be my GOTY two years in a row!!
-
81 perks isn't enough?? dear god that's a lot, you could make any character with that many options... i am really just now getting into smithing... i've been mining and buying ore off of blacksmiths... and yes, i am still in whiterun, lol ... if you fast-travel to whiterun, there's a smelting pot just to the right, along with every other smithing tool available... and it's the first house on the left of the breezehome, your home... very convenient... i swear i can't get out of this town, still questing around here... kinda adds to the whole experience to be honest... i have planted some seeds in this town, the roots are taking hold... whiterun is my town, i plan on retiring here if i ever take an arrow in the knee...

new vegas focuses more on CQC, which i love... you can still be the sniper, but you'll do more damage in the trenches... and yea, i actually think the pitt is easier than operation anchorage... i can complete the pitt on a lower level, yet i need to gain some levels if i want to try anchorage because of the super mutant overlords that spawn after installation... those fuckers are not for low leveled players... but the pitt is super easy, i just thought you'd like the atmosphere... i do love that town, it's got that mad max feel to it... mothership zeta and point lookout are much much harder than the pitt and anchorage... but you probably are a tank by now, but even those add-ons make it difficult at times... it's been so long since i played fallout 3... let us know when you make the jump to new vegas ...
-
@massacre... for reals... my first interest in skyrim was because i wanted to see the new fallout engine in working order... it's not much different to be honest... graphics are more HD now, but the world and architecture is still the same... but oblivion to skyrim is such a leap that it could probably jump over 20 mammoths stacked on top of each other... the difference from new vegas to skyrim is much smaller, but i do see some great landscape changes to the next fallout... they were just starting to dick around with elemental effects like weather and wind... skyrim nails the snowy stuff, except that uncharted 2 nailed it better with footprints and your character actually looking like he was walking thru some snow... i hope fallout gets to be as big as skyrim though... while there is plenty to do in new vegas, skyrim has it beat by about 300 hours (for my slow playing style)... i want more more more to do in fallout ... this new engine seems to pack the punch for stuff to do...
-
people dog operation: anchorage (not here i don't think) but i thought it was a fun war simluator... it is afterall, a SIMULATOR... people said it felt disconnected from the capitol wasteland... well duh... didn't tranquility lane feel the same?? both are simulations... you'll love the pitt and point lookout though, those are the best of the best fallout 3 DLC...
-
wow, haven't made it out that way yet either... basically, whiterun is the only castle i've visited... i am thinking that once i wrap up a few more loose ends in whiterun, i'll head to riften... this game is too fucking big... so big that i often reach a stalemate as to what to do next... come tomorrow, i will probably still be in whiterun, just as confused as i was when i posted this...
-
i haven't had a run-in with the dark brotherhood yet... i guess i haven't done anything to piss them off...
-
i do carry a bow with me though... i use it to pick off one enemy in the room, if it has the power to do so... most of the time it just pisses off the enemies... which doesn't bother me since i was about to roll up on them with my dual weapons anyways... i still have an orcish mace, but i have since added the aladdin schmitar to my arsenal... the resell value for them are crap, but the base damage is the best of all my one-handed weapons right now... plus, i finally get the cool blade kill cams... for a while there i was just seeing blunt force trauma, now i get to see sword stabs and hopefully decapitations soon...
-
@cy - i would suggest fallout new vegas if your having a lot of fun playing 3... but i would wait until the GOTY edition comes out in a couple months... and skyrim so far is great, it's 100 times better than oblivion because i think they finally got the RPG aspects right... i no longer have to jump for two hours just to level up athletics... i can just play... Yours sincerely, A fine gentleman with an iPhone.
