  1. i thought long and hard about what kind of character i was going to be... and i've built him exactly how i wanted too... he's tough to hurt now, i literally haven't used a health potion or spell in quite some time... but i spent the entire first 10 levels just working on improving his main skills; heavy armor, one-handed, smithing, and restoration... but while i was playing i was improving sneak, lockpick, archery and enchanting without really trying... and yes marney, you should of been working on those quests instead of ignoring them... my misc. quest list is ridiculous, but i only have maybe 4 or 5 regular quests in my list... a couple of them have to do with guilds that i have no intentions of joining, like the thieves guild... you've probably logged many hours but you are still not far at all to be honest... and you're new to this style of game, it's hard to know what you want to do without actually playing it... i've restarted RPG's before, but with my fallout and oblivion experience, i had no problem creating the kind of character i wanted to play as in skyrim... i learned to take my time and actually wrap up loose ends before taking on new problems... games like this can be very over-bearing at times... your best offense is just to chip away at it... i turned down tons of quests in riften just because i didn't want to take on more work... you need a sense of character direction, otherwise, you just wander the land like marney ... i even create my characters moral values and principals too... a man willing to help the poor, and shun corruption... a man of the people, which is why i've turned down numerous theft quests and joining the thieves guild... and the more i hear of the politics of skyrim, the more i realize that i might be fighting for the storm-cloaks, fighting for the nords of skyrim... fighting for freedom ...
  2. take your time too... don't rush it, sit down and actually try to make the character you want... the possibilties are endless, but you don't want to be all over the place, you want to build him up the right way by working on the skills you want... once you start getting further into leveling, you can start to focus on secondary stuff... pick your character build and style now... worry about the rest after level 15...
  3. i wonder if there's an app in the apple store for that... *checks it out* nope, just guides...
  4. yea, i pick and choose what i read... but i try to at least look at every book in case it's a skill book, it's actually how i launched the mission i was talking about in my last post... after a while, you start to recognize the title and know to skip it... but if it has a catchy title or something i recognize like books on oblivion, dragonborn, daedra, dwemner, the royal septems, etc... stuff i remember from oblivion and the lore of the land... and if it's about something i remember hearing about, i might pick it up for reading later... my house is actually full of books i need to read... i've read a few on my journey, but i usually snagged it up for later... i am learning now that if i am interested, i might as well spend a couple minutes reading it... it's much easier to just get it out of the way when you can, instead of saving it for later... i am about 20 books behind right now...
  5. i bought all the add-ons, just because my guy is a noble man who loves reading books by the fire when he's not slaying dragons and bandits... he's a frightful warrior, with a soft side for a good story... as a matter of fact, i read a great one at the thalmor party... it was called, "the cake and the diamond"... he's about to read up on the book, "lost legends" only because it launched a quest, and i've already visited the entrance to two caves related to that quest... i almost entered the caves, but thought better of it and looked them up to see if they were tied to a quest... sho' 'nuff they were tied to the "forbidden legend" quest... it's definitely my next quest to do outside of the main one... cadman does love a good adventure... but tie a good adventure in with a good book?? game on...
  6. i piss on 5,000 septims... i have 20,000 and nothing to spend it on, because i only need one house...
  7. yea, welcome to the open-worlds of bethesda... try walking past some trees, then being hit by the spit of a frost spider, only to turn around and realize one spawned right behind you... i wish i had mjoll with me, she might of attacked it before it attacked me... followers do tend to lag behind a bit... or in fallout 3, vault 92... i make a slight sound and about 6 mirelurks come flying around the corridor corner!! that's actually my first instance of being scared to shit in a bethesda open world game... and i always play with the surround sound on, i hear it all ... dragons get my heart rate pumping a bit too, especially when i hear them before i see them... fuck me, i have no more space on the bookshelf, time to use the barrel underneath the staircase... or is it an angled ladder??
  8. i hope everything works out for him... i don't think i've ever dealt with the thalmor before the mission i am about to turn in... but i sure did kill a lot of them at the party... they gotta be over 7 feet tall, or breton's really are that short ... i went to the party, that was kinda interesting... maybe i need to stick to the main quest for a while, the missions sure are a lot more fun than looting another cave for someone... although, i was disapointed in the party itself, twas rather boring and not enough people there to talk to... i thought it was suppose to be a grand party for all the elite socialites of skyrim, but the only person i recognized was that bitch black-briar, who threatened to expose me ... i wanna kill her when i get back to riften...
  9. damn, i am slow at playing games... he's where i just was, yet i am level 25 26 and 90 hours in, lol ... i guess i spend too much time not doing anything... hell, i am typing this and i left the game running, the camera is spinning around... i was gonna suggest that you look at your active spells to see if you've been turned into a vampire and your in a later stages of vampirism, but it's only happening when you enter her shop... perhaps you beat up on her when you were fighting that dragon and she has a grudge against you... if you could, i would go back a couple hours to a previous save... that is, if you keep an extra save handy... i have the main one for use when i am happy with the progress, and i have one for when i am progressing... sometimes i contemplate having a 3rd save... but i bet waiting it out for a few days might work... go somewhere way away, go indoors, and wait it out, maybe try a week... otherwise, i don't know what else to say...
  10. ohh... all the more reason to start plowing through the main quest then... i think i've done enough exploring to know that i should probably get back to the task at hand... the world seems to be in amazement that another dragon attacked kynesgrove, even though i had slayed another dozen before it that went unnoticed... then i went to a cave i got tasked with early in the game and it was a piece of cake... i remember feeling not ready for it back then, but it was nothing... i should probably make my way to solitude then, that's where the story is taking me... i might hit up a cave on the way though, it's on my map, i have to see what it is that i forgot about in there... ohh, and duffman... i can't put items on the racks... my game is busted... ohh well, i just wanted to try it, i could care less about my house in skyrim to be honest... a safehouse means so much more in fallout, but it skyrim, houses are everywhere... in fallout, shelter was more important than other things... the people of skyrim have no idea how privileged they are... plus, all i do is collect junk, there's no point in grabbing magical swords or armor anymore, i've got dozens of them already... money seems to be a non factor too... i rarely find anything outside of ore or ingots worth buying....
  11. how do you get past the snow storm in the high hrothgar courtyard?? am i missing a special power or something?? i wanna see what's past it!!
  12. nope... like i said, once i was set free to go wherever in oblivion, i didn't even touch the story... i think the farthest i got was when i took the heir to the throne to the temple of the nine or something to hide him for the time being... i closed maybe 2 or 3 oblivion gates, then the world out-leveled me and i died at every turn because i decided to be a stupid elf archer... thank god that isn't the case with skyrim... this feels more like fallout's leveling system... plus now i am playing as the character build i am good at when i play these kinds of games; a brute dual-wielding fearless warrior ... i think i literally just started the brotherhood when i gave up on the game... i killed someone to start the quest, snuck into some inn and killed a guy... but i didn't read any books, or learn of the history of the land... in skyrim, i am reading bits and pieces here and there... i've actually been collecting books with stuff on the history of the land to read when i feel like it... i am trying, but i am a noob when it comes to the history of tamriel... i've read some good books, like the one about a vampire hunter, who ended up being hunted in the end by the narrator ... that was a good read... i read the book of dragonborn, perhaps i should read it again... and i don't know anything about the deadric princes (i have a book on them though), i just remember that they came from the oblivion gates, which has since been sealed... i did run into one of the princes though, he was the jokester one named sam that sent me on a long detective quest where i had to figure out what i did the night before... i liked it, it's the best quest so far...
  13. i'll try it later today... i could of swore i tried equipping a weapon and using the rack, but the rack doesn't resgister as something to make an action with... what about those crests that you see above beds, like the bed in whiterun?? i can remove items from it, but i can't add anything to it... perhaps they are set up like the weapon racks and i have to have them equipped and ready to use...
  14. does anyone know how to put weapons and armor on the display racks?? i would like to use them, but i can't figure out how... basically the only thing i have put on display in my house in some butterfly in a jar, and i can't get it to stand upright... and i have no idea how i got that jar by the way... what's the point of a the butterfly in the jar??
  15. did you whack the talking one, or the ressurected one?? if i recall, the talking one spoke a strange language, then a skeleton dragon emerged from a burial site... it was actually pretty fucking sweet... then he flew off and i had to fight a named dragon that i couldn't remember the name of... wow, me and marney are at the same spot in the story... i guess i have been moving way to slow through the story if marney is at the same spot...
  16. yea, i knew he was the leader, i just thought i slayed him in whiterun... but is someone else pulling the strings?? me thinks so, i got a mystery to unravel... i guess i wasn't paying attention at the time back in whiterun... but yea, i think it's time to rock out the main quest... are you way way past that part, cortez?? that could also add to your file size being bigger than mine...
  17. yea, i'm lost... cicero was in oblivion?! he's with the dark brotherhood?! how come he didn't offer me a spot with them when i helped him out?? either way, i still like him ... i hope i can recruit him as a companion, but i don't think the dark brotherhood is the route for me anyways... ------------------ so i finally did some of the main story yesterday... because i made a push into the northern part of the map, i was near the jargen the windblower-something temple... so, i did that and the follow-up quest that took me near windhelm... since the main story is back into the central part of the map, i might start working on that some more... i guess i must of missed it, but there's a dragon that talks?! apparently during the quest i did last night, i made a mention to delphine that i had seen that dragon before at helgen, but i thought i killed that dragon in whiterun?? i guess i wasn't paying very close attention to that and i just kill a normal dragon... but after watching the macho man dragon mod, i heard the dragon speak in the beginning... i really must of missed that in the intro... so now the main story is kind of making more sense now that there's a talking dragon ressurecting the buried dragons of skyrim... i suppose i gotta get to the bottom of this and figure out who's behind all of it ... yea, i should start focusing more on the main story ...
  18. why doesn't anyone like cicero?? is his voice annoying, or is it because everyone else doesn't like him, so you guys follow suit?? he seems like a devilish little bastard... his voice sounds like the robot devil's voice in futurama ...
  19. yea, saw that one too... i've seen it done with cabbages too... but this macho man dragon mod puts a smile on my face every time!! ----------------------------- wait a sec, another item i found not found on the skyrim wikia?? anyone else have this one?? that's a pretty low value for something that seems so powerful... i might of found a new necklace to wear...
  20. i was clicking on the only tumbler link in his sig... i guess i don't follow... ------------------------ dear god, i wish i had the fucking PC version... but i don't want to shell out hundreds of dollars for a capable one... I WANT THIS MOD!!
  21. damn, in a bad mood today, duffy?? i found his situation and quest to be funny and entertaining... ...and looking for a youtube clip, i realized that he's in more encounters... but this one is the one that cracked me up!!
  22. it works for me... ohh, i forgot to mention this but i met my favorite character in my journey so far... i ran into him on my way to morthal... meet cicero, a madly entertaining chap who is trying to transport is dear dead mother... his wagon broke down, but the stupid farmer nearby won't help him... his dramatic tone of voice and funny garb makes him quite entertaining ...
  23. yea, i figured that fire objects used a lot of textures and animations that have to loop over and over a few times a second... there's a lot going on just to create the effect of fire... with snow and rain, all you have to do is put this layer over the screen, similar i think to the space travel screensaver for windows... with fire though, i always figured there was more at work when trying to make it work... it's a tough environmental element to create, and i can totally see it slowing down a game with a lot going on already... i swear, when i enter the gomorrah casino in new vegas at later levels, the framerate always drops to like 1 or 2 frames per second... it takes a restart inside the gomorrah to fix the problem... i seriously think bethesda needs to look closely at their fire effects... even removing a texture or two, or slowing down the animation could do wonders on a world that is already struggling to keep up with all the dynamic stuff happening already...
