  1. I'm not 100% sure it's true either, because that's an insane figure.

but then, on second thought, why would the biggest spanish-speaking videogame info-network go ahead and spread false rumors, namely citing LB ?

and on third thought, there's so many activities that we know now (different types of races with and without all kind of transport from mountainbike to airplane, deathsmatches, heists, all the sports we know of) and there's other activies that seem plausible, from new fighting-based missions (capture the flag sort of things, maybe some sort of defense-based stuff where one crew hits another crews hidout) or even turnament-based competitions in sports and fighting... I can even think of a cops vs robber like scenario of hunting down an individual for whatever reason, or something protect the vip like...

of course all considering the area they take place at, asking for different approaches when downtown or in the open wild

I don't think outlining 500 recurring multiplayer activities is that much of a problem really. And with a nice leaderboard system the replay value would rise aswell.

  2. oh hard to gather this one as I found it on the german ign only which links to cvg which, in turn, links to this 3djuegos article published yesterday showing an interview with Leslie Benzies.

looks like the multiplayer gonna be epic, they say there's a total of about 700 missions available in multiplayer, 500 of which are permanently available or "respawn" regularily once done.

  3. Trevor's around where in the 2nd trailer, the jeep falls out of the cargo-plane, compare the screencaps:

    gameplay-1-down-we-go-again-1.jpg

    trailer-2-bailout.jpg

especially right of the car, you can make out some roads / paths visible in both pictures, a bit of the prison walls aswell... and the airstrip, of course.

so we're taken just bejond the vinewood hills area in the character shifting scene and nowhere near alamo sea

  4. According to the screencap up yonder^^^^, there's a small town known as "Paleto". Any idea if we've seen it yet, Fitty?

NOTE: It translates from Spanish as "hick".

plenty times in the gameplay trailer. skydiving down the mountain into Paleto, Frankyboy shooting up goons at the factory looks like the same location to me, also pretty early on in the gameplay trailer, where the camera zooms out looking down Mt Chiliad (with the shack up on it's top)... maybe even more often, dunno...

  5. Okay, I'm convinced Rockstar has either accidentally used structures [far] outside of Southern California or they are really stretching their "reimagination" of it.

First is the rail bridge. Since the first screenshot of it the only match I found was one in Canada - a very good match. I had searched Google 10 different ways for a rail bridge in Southern California and it actually popped up in the image results for "truss arch rail bridge california". The real bridge is Stoney Creek Bridge in British Columbia:

Now here's what I was looking at just now. In this next screencap you can see a motel in the background (individual yellow boxes with the letters and some signage under it including a red arrow). Searching Google for "route 66 motel california" brings up an image of an almost exact motel sign for Glancy Motel which is on historic Route 66. The problem is that it's in Oklahoma.

There have been a few others that I can't think of off-hand where a similar structure was a little far from Southern California.

    /rant

I see your point but not that much of a problem here.

of course it's sort of disturbing that they place structures obviously far outside SoCal in a SoCal-ish map.

But to me, it's not like they are that prominent to their actual location.

Such a truss arch steel bridge could virtually be everywhere throughout north america for it's a sort of classic construction.

Same for the motel sign, the basic design leaks 1950s out of every vertex that makes for the 3d model so that it could aswell be inspired by thousands of 50s era motels. even if there's an equal sign somewhere in OK it doesn't make it feel out of place in a SoCal environment.

I mean, if we were talking about real prominent landmarks that R* blatantly placed around San Andreas that are not associated with SoCal at all, say Mt. Rushmore or St. Louis Gateway Arch or any other landmark building/structure outside Socal it would be a whole lot of a different story because it would ruin the SoCal-reimagination.

But with these 2 examples (and I guess there's more of the likes) it's ok to have it like this imho.

Of course it feels wrong to use them if there's probably enough real objects in SoCal that could be used instead but as long as it feel authentic when exploring the new San Andreas it doesn't bother me too much

  6. I'm pretty sure people noticed it. Even if it's a random world event it's not really new since the cops have gone after other criminals since Vice City. GTA IV had them getting put into cop cars too.

... and then the suspects get a free ride through half the city and all of a sudden just despawn.

I followed the cops a few times in IV just to see what happens once they arrest a suspect.

Would be cool if they'd actually drive them to the precinct and haul them off to an interrogation room or just make them disappear inside the station rather than just randomly despawning them from the backseat of the cop cars.

  7. The article posted by gameinformer also says that their will be more than 1000 customizations available, to me that's a LOT.

    Can't wait for this game.

Not necessarily, just because 1000 customizations sounds like a big number, doesn't really mean that the actual customization is that in-depth. Remember that this number covers every car and bike in the game, so how many customizations would each individual vehicle have/ and how deep is the customizability of each vehicle. I saw the customization for the vehicles, and I wasn't overly impressed by the one tone colour scheme for the car shown ( even though there was 75 of them ).

Where were the more complex options for decaling? Or the Body Kits? Where was the in-depth paint job customization? All that was shown was a one colour option similar to the random colour change at Pay-n-Spray's in GTA lV.

Maybe RockStar couldn't afford to take the time to render all the possible variations of paintjobs needed for more in-depth customization ( which would sacrifice graphical performance ). So far I would say that the car customization looks like it is relatively shallow ( kind of like San Andreas's vehicle customization was ).

What are all the kinds of cosmetic alterations you can make to the vehicles? How deep do you plan to go?

In addition to the many cosmetic customization alterations such as body kits, paint jobs/finishes, wheels, exhaust tips, window tints, tire smoke color, bull-bars, extra lights, and lots of other extra accessories, we have modifications that will affect gameplay and vehicle performance. Some of the modifications that affect gameplay include brakes, engine tuning, suspension, horns, bulletproof tires, panel armor, and of course, a general repair! There are more than 1,000 modifications in total. And when you're done customizing your car, you can take a picture of it using the in-game cell phone and upload them to the Social Club.

Sounds pretty in depth to me. Also it reads like the 1000 customization options account for vehicle-customization only.

  8. From the looks of it, it seems to be a topographic map view showing the LA area as seen in Garmin Aviation GPS systems like G500/G950/G1000, with the yellow-ish parts approximately showing contigious city areas as described in the Jeppesen VFR Maps, which are not always 100% coinciding with actual city boundaries cuz, long story short, all towns look alike from the air except for distinctive landmarks like lakes, parks, outstanding buildings or distinctive roads/rails and therefore an accurate depiction of the city doesn't serve the purpose of an easy-to-read-map well...

  9. yeah the above pic shows quite well how the southern coastline is situated according to what the blueprint snippets show ( I guess the red dashed line is supposed to show the outlines of the blueprint map).

R* would take quite a wierd step in design if the main body of the map is south of LS.

ok it would make more sense according to real life geography if the Lake Alamo area would be to the southeast of the city, but we all know by now that this isn't the case, so there ain't much left to be depicted there as nobody cares about the holy d and the gauchos.

Anyways, all speculation due to the rolled-up map is just out of proportion because it is nothing but a photoshopped "symbol" saying that there is a map in the bundle but it has nothing to do with the actual map that's gonna be shipped (maybe except the color). like fitty said it already, you can see quite well that this the streetmap, compared to the roll itself, doesn't seem to follow the curvature of the latter which pretty mich confirms that this is only a photoshopped something rather than an actual pic of the map.

  10. to my liking, they could've payed a bit more tribute to the insane suburban sprawl in the los angeles basin, ls looks a bit dense to me judging from the map. big indeed and it'll surely feel so, but dense.

anways, I wonder how long it'll take till they officially introduce the map. didn't take them long to do so after the map leak in the 4 trailer, something tells me the ls-map leak was as intentionall as the lc map leak back then

  11. First post apart from introduction!

I dont suppose people know when gta iv map was revealed, I remember that it was seen on a police boat first, or did I make that up ?

Great job working the map out btw, got some talented/dedicated folk here!

If I remember correctly it was when rockstar put it up in their website and it was interactive, I hope they do the same for V

I wrote about this a while back but your both right, sort of...

it was just like the new kid says, the map was first spotted in on of the trailers in a scene with police boats... intentional or not, it was clearly visible (as far as the camera angle and the model/texture of this navigation/gps-monitor allows for it, but clear enough to be identified)

but shortly thereafter, couple days or so, R* offically released this interactive something that so clearly resembled the map seen in the trailer, that all doubts about whether the thing in the trailer is the map or not, turned silent.

still looking for something like this in screenshots or trailers of V but yet no luck and I doubt it'll happen again, but you never know...

  12. We seen waterfalls heading back into the center of the map, and unless the ocean is higher than the center of the map (highly unrealistic, and would look strange), water would have to flow upwards somewhere, unless the ocean is gonna be tilted...

not unrealistic at all I might say.

there's plenty of areas that are well below sealevel, yet not underwater. e.g. badwater basin (death valley) which is the lowest point in north america, almost 300ft below 0 (the lowest land area is almost 1400ft below sealevel, in israel)...

  13. Los Santos has got to be smaller than Liberty City though, it would make sense.

LA Metro Area: 33,954 sq mi

NYC Metro Area: 11,842 sq mi

I wonder which sense it would make compared to their real-life counterparts.

or are we talking inhabitants? NYC Metro leads over LA Metro by about 6million, but that has nothing to do with size.
