Remember, Marcus, R* said LS was larger than those three combined, not the map. The map as a whole could be even bigger.
This^ is exactly what I took that comment as, looks like I was right to think the reporter was referring to the city alone.
Also, Pud, I told ya so.
Do you really believe you're looking at an area nearly the size SA, IV, and RDR combined in this picture?

From JeuxActu: "Rockstar Games has confirmed that the city of Los Santos (an almost perfect replica of Los Angeles) is 4-5 times larger than Liberty City in GTA IV" Hope you guys stop arguing now. And yes.. it mentions that just the city is that big, not the whole map. That means that the map is gonna be enormous (+judging from the new screenshots).
I'll believe that when I see it.
That would mean that the city alone is 25 square miles. That's nearly twice as big as the entire map of San Andreas. The only way they can get that much land is if they're adding all of Los Angeles county including areas such as Santa Clarita and Pomoma. The urban center of Los Santos that they showed in the first trailer isn't going to be nearly that big.
This is what Liberty City and Los Santos city would look like if the Bank Tower was next to the Chrysler Building -
To get the same angle in the oil well picture, you'd have to place the camera farther north and pointed west. That would shrink the right side considerably.
Poor Marcus got his hopes up for nothing.

Okay, Pud, you're obviously lost, and I really don't feel like explaining anymore shit to you. Goodbye.
Translation:
Every post I make makes me look like a dumbass so I'm going to quit posting.Seriously, try to explain this shit:
He said LS was bigger, not the entire map was bigger, if he was referring to LS alone (which I now see he wasn't) you would have been dead wrong. If something that's not true would have been true (and you know it's not true), then I would have been wrong.
What was the point of posting that?

*facepalm* Look at your map. The green area is LS, right? Yes? Those triangular structures are the mountains. The blue is the Ocean. SO WHERE THE HELL IS THE REST OF L O S S A N T O S?
Apparently, the rest is in the hills and beyond in areas they didn't show in the first trailer. It's going to be a stretched-out sprawling city. It's probably going to include a lot of sparsely populated suburban areas. They even added the word sprawling to their description in the newswire.
"set in the sprawling city of Los Santos and for miles beyond"
http://www.rockstarg...newswire/page/2
I then read the GI article and the interviewer said "LS is bigger than RDR, GTAIV etc."He said LS was bigger, not the entire map was bigger, if he was referring to LS alone (which I now see he wasn't) you would have been dead wrong.
You're saying I would have been wrong if the city was that big? No shit. And if you had a vagina, you'd be a girl. What point are you trying to make here?
Either way, with the entire map being 30 - 40 sq miles, theres still a good chance that you were wrong. It was a good estimate from what we were given but I'm pretty sure LS is not that small. Plus, R* also said they were going to make one huge city instead of multiple cities, by what means is 2/3 of Liberty City acceptable? The part I mapped is probably the size I estimated it to be.
Also, don't be surprised if the actual map doesn't seem as big as they claim it to be. They're probably including the underwater areas since you can scuba dive. Plus, they could add Catalina Island which could greatly increase the square mile area without adding much land mass. For example:
I didn't use an accurate mile distance, so that's not the square mile area of the real Los Angeles. The percentage difference between the 2 is accurate though.

I saw that earlier today and it's the only reason I'm even considering you aren't lying,
That's the only reason? In the trailer, you can see there are mountains around the city to the north and east. I drew mountains to the north and east in my map. Did you think the mountains I drew were some other mountains?
-
Okay since I somewhat started this let me clarify a few things.
1. I was kidding when I put all of the failure on Bannana Pud, fact of the matter is Pud, Marcus, Qd, myself and a couple others failed. I'm still not certain if Marcus realised that when he said what he said but either way your reaction was ridiculous, Pud.
2. Theres obviously a misunderstanding of what Pud was actually estimating and that is partially his fault, by saying "City area", Pud, you weren't being specific, you gotta remember that LS IS a city which gave the impression you meant the whole part of LS, not just the downtown/busy area which some ppl call "the city".
I'm pretty sure though that you were talking about the entire area of LS, remember your map on page 19? the one with the landmarks of the screenshots with LS colored in green? You surrounded LS By mountains instead of "sprawling areas" so that also gave the impression you meant the whole city.

Go look at the picture again. It's pretty obvious what areas I was including. http://i.imgur.com/TXRDf.jpg

I slightly remade the map. Rockstar said they were trying to capture the 'sprawling' aspect of Los Angeles, trying to do one city - and doing it properly. So I colored over the rest of the city that you missed out. Also I would like to see where the creator of the map saw Slab City - I'm pretty sure it wasn't in the trailer or the GI article. However, Palm Springs was in the trailer.
So now calculate the new percentage of the size of the city part of the map in ratio with the rest of it, and tell me what you come up with. It may not be 100% accurate, but neither is yours.
Why did you color areas that I didn't include in my estimate? I stayed south of the observatory, didn't go any farther south of the bridges, and didn't go nearly as far east as you show. You're getting desperate.

So you're saying the city accounts for 13% of the whole map (or probably less, since there is 'room to spare'). There is no fucking way that is going to happen.
This isn't my picture. Someone else made it and marked off the areas shown and discussed in the trailer and GI article. The area in the pink is the part I estimated the size of. What percentage of the map is that area?
-
The already said the map was bigger tha rdr san andreas and gta 4 combined...
What's your point?
-
Life.
Specifically, what was I wrong about?
The size of Los Santos.
Now that that is cleared up, we can move the fuck on.
No, we can't move the fuck on since there's no proof if I'm right or wrong at this point. You can't just say I'm wrong without any evidence.
I only estimated the size of the areas in red and south to the bridges...
So, until you have proof, you can't say I'm wrong. There's nothing that indicates that area is larger than Alderney and Algonquin combined.
Here's a visual of the possible map size:

They are arguing not about map size, but about whether or not bannanners was wrong, which he clearly was
Wrong about what?
-
I wonder if 'Franklin' (what kind of name is that for a black guy, seriously)
-
It's okay to be wrong by the way, I'm pretty sure everyone has been at one time in their life.
And you seemed to be pretty sure there would be multiple cities, even though I constantly explained why they would not be.
-
Here is an accurate size comparison of VC, SA, and IV. I used the in-game stats to measure a half mile distance on a straight flat course in each game. All measurements were double checked. I'll add V when I get it.
I wish I had Red Dead Redemption.
-
Still a fail in the multiple cities ddepartment... Its ok to be uncorrect
It's not really a fail since I didn't say they were definitely having multiple cities. I just said it was possible judging from the size of Los Santos that they had shown.
This is what I don't understand..
Your estimate was that LS was 2/3 of LC
R* says LS is bigger than LC, RDR's map, and SA combined
Now unless someone was mistaken and they meant the entire map was bigger than LS, RDR's map, and SA combined, you were wrong.
*LC
The entire map of GTA V is bigger than LC, SA, and RDR - not the city.
Did you really think the city area of Los Santos is the size of all 3 of those maps combined and then there would be countryside around it?
-
Dude. We were estimating the size of the city in order to show that the city was too small and therefore miltiple cities had to be in the game. We were wrong. Fail. Ect.
At this point, my estimate still stands. Nothing has been proven wrong about it. There's just a lot of sprawl around it that they didn't show in the first trailer. When they announced the Spring release date, they even added the word "sprawling" to their description of the city.
I knew there had to be more and instead of having another city, they're just spreading Los Santos beyond the hills. I would have preferred a separate city to travel to rather than just one big spread-out city which is what they created.

I'd just like to point out that Bannana Pud = Fail
Not so fast, dipshit. In case you didn't notice, I only estimated the size of the urban center of the city. Look again - http://i.imgur.com/TXRDf.jpg
I didn't even include the observatory because it's on a mountain. The city area still appears the size I estimated it to be. There's just going to be lots and lots of suburban sprawl in the hills and outer areas.
And I agree with Kuz, you failed quite badly on this Banana Pudding. Not only is the map not smaller than GTA IV, it is actually a lot bigger.
You're as dumb as that bastard above. You're like the retard twins.
Did you really think I was estimating the size of the entire map? It even says "Los Santos city area".

It's fake. I've seen it before.
Where have you seen it ? I really wanna know because it looks like a epic game.
It's not from a game. It's a real picture that's been photoshopped.

Can we get some more imaginative posts? Everyone keeps reiterating the same ideas.
You start out as a man and then later in the game you get a sex change and play as a woman. In the desert, you find a crazy scientist living in a cave who invented a time machine. You go back in time and both male and female versions of yourself exist at the same time. The female version becomes a hooker and the male version picks her up, has sex with himself and then kills himself to get his money back from himself.

So you're saying the area of the city within the mountains is around 30 square miles?
