  1. 1. Your post is about a game that hasn't been released yet, so it's pure speculation.

Do you even know which thread you're in? The title of the thread is "Los Santos Map Size".

    2. The first thing bOnEs says in said link is:

"i don't why you had a hard time searching google for the answer though, i entered "biggest game map" and the 1st image explains it all... you're failing at the internet, bro..."

Same principle applies here, that's all.

You linked to an individual post. That post answered nothing. Your post was a waste of space.

This is what I want you to do:

-List the names of all the people who have posted in the thread who have contributed anything about the size of Los Santos.

-Look for your name on that list.

You don't see it, do you? Go bother someone else.

I'm trying to figure out how much area the helicopter screenshot ( http://i.minus.com/ibnNnQJ1dZQOYR.jpg) covers on TreeFitty's map. Is this close?

    the helicopter screenshot covers :

NW: north of Santa Monica (Ocean Towers)

NE: Beverly Center and north-west of Downtown

SE : Port of Long Beach (and maybe more to east)

    helico10.jpg

I'm not sure it goes that far north. I could have gone farther east though since I just included what was visible and not behind the buildings.

If it covers as much area as you say, it would make Los Santos even smaller.

  2. ^ I hope the map is at least way bigger then that though. That map only seems like a third or smaller of San Andreas.

It's over 3 times the area of IV's map.

How big was SA compared to IV?

I recommend reading the forums, not just posting incessantly in one topic.

    1. My post is about the map size of this game. I don't care about which game has the biggest map.

    2. The post you linked to doesn't answer my question.

  3. I'm not going to do all of the work on this one. I'll save some for you.

Go look at my last post above this one...

I don't know the exact fraction, but I don't really care. That area is roughly one-third of the map.

Remember my helicopter comparison - http://i.imgur.com/B8jzy.jpg

Notice that the sides got cut off a little on the IV pic, but the GTA V pic is at an angle which shows a lot more sky and significantly less land area - http://i.imgur.com/Rm05a.jpg

    Study those a little.

How big does Los Santos look to you now? Convinced?

  4. YEah I was just trying to disprove his theory that only hills, countryside and beaches will appear in the game.

Tried and failed would be more accurate.

Lol how did I fail? You said that there were only hills countryside and beaches in the game when in the trailer there is a stretch of desert

Well, you didn't prove that it's a desert. So, go ahead and submit your evidence.

  5. No. therefore you can widen your interpretation.

Next parameter: Is San Diego in Southern California? Yes or no.

    Yes.

    Is LV or SF?

    No.

SD still fails the hills, countryside and beaches test so it's not in the game either.

If you're allowed to widen the interpretation of hills, countryside and beaches, why not anything else?

You guys are seriously taking this quote way too literally. Just because they said it will return to the hills, countrysides and beaches just means that they will all feature in they game, it didn't mean there will exclusively -ONLY- be hills, countryside and beaches. And as we've seen from Rockstar before they really take inspiration from everywhere, LV and SF were in the fictional state of california before so there is a chance that they will be in GTA V, an extremely small unlikely chance but still a chance.

I'm not actually taking things too literally. I'm just explaining a point. I think SF and LV are still possible.

  6. "GTA V is to be set in fictional Los Santos in the state of San Andreas and its surrounding areas, based on modern-day Los Angeles and Southern California.." With that being said, San Diego is south of la, so there is a POSSIBILITY. San Francisco is north of la, so there's no way. and Vegas is in Nevada so you can take you (SF/LV) theory to the trash. And to even consider San Diego being a hill, are you slow? oh, and here's your link (so hard to find) http://www.rockstarg...nouncement.html

What you quoted is not from Rockstar. Read more below...

I really hate to tell you and it may come a shocking news - San Fierro and Las Venturas weren't hills either. And if you feel the need to literally take that statement word for word, you're completely misinterpreting it. How the fuck does it make sense to include SF and LV in Southern Californa, but having San Diego in it is a stupid idea that would never happen?

You missed the point. The point is if San Diego is possible, then SF and LV are also possible. Mexico even becomes a possibility.

    Rockstar's quotes:

Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches
Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California

If you take a strict interpretation of their words, no other city will be in the game. It would just be Los Santos.

San Diego wouldn't be possible because it doesn't work with the first quote. It's not a hill, countryside or a beach. To allow San Diego means you're able to add things that don't fit within Rockstar's exact words. If you can do that, then you can add other things as well.

    There are 2 possibilities:

    1. Los Santos is the only city.

    2. All other cities can be included.

P.S. San Diego would be a terrible city to add. It has nothing significant to offer that's not already in Los Angeles. Do you really want 2 similar cities?

  7. well actually, san deigo is possible since they sothern california and the fact that they said that los santos would be the largest URBAN area.

First, I don't believe they said LS would be the largest urban area. I don't think they mentioned anything like that.

If you stick to exactly what they said - "the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches", then San Diego is out because San Diego isn't a hill, countryside or beach.

If you disagree and think San Diego can be included even though it's not a hill, contryside or beach, then San Fierro and Las Venturas can be included since we're allowed to expand on what they said.

Since San Diego can be a hill, countryside or beach, I say SF and LV can be part of southern California.

  8. ...The maps are on the internet. and the point of the la noire map being mentioned is that it was large and only the los angeles area, doesn't mater if the buildings are not there because all you need it for is comparisons. since similar buildings or landmarks exist in both games, all you would have to do is calculate approximated draw distance (how far away one building is from the other in both games)

I would need the game to do that. It's too hard to find good screenshots of the areas I would need and I would also need to know the exact position of those images on the map.

You could do it. I'm not.

  9. I really liked gtasa's countryside...

    me too

If los santos is the only city, bannana is wrong about the map size, if rockstar is keeping us hoodwinked, he might be right.

I didn't estimate the whole map - just the city area that they showed in the trailer. There could be more city area to the east and southeast. Rockstar pretty much confirmed the map is at least bigger than IV's.

    Edit.....

i think it would be better to use mcla and lan's maps instead of gta 4's. but only in ters of size and the fact that v's city will be more realistic

    1. I don't have those games.

    2. LA Noire was set in the 1940's before the Bank Tower and Citigroup Center were built. I'm not sure about the other buildings and I don't feel like looking it up.
