  1. So basically regenerating health. There was an interview with Jeronimo Barrera (I believe with him) a month or two ago about Max Payne 3 saying the problem with regenerating health is people sit behind cover too much instead of getting through the mission. True, and I'm also not 100% convinced about the whole regeneration system, there's games where it works and games where it doesn't, but there's got to be a middle way. I'm not so much talking about missions as I am about fooling around in the world. Longer missions could have a single well placed checkpoint and problem solved... (most of GTA's missions aren't really super difficult anyway, so far...) But when free roaming, it would be a welcomed addition. The more I think about it, the harder it seems to find the perfect solution...
  2. I'm hoping a health system improvement à la 'The Getaway', lean against an object (or someone) and start healing. It's getting annoying having to eat or save everytime your health is low. It worked till a few years back, but time to improve
  3. @ManicMarcus: I've played RDR to death yes, but my mind was completely focussing on the GTAIV trees Indeed they did look a lot better there, I'll have to fire it up again and see what they did there. It's also perfectly possible R* has their own little engine within the Rage engine which they're constantly updating specifically designed for these things, especially since RDR is mostly plants and trees throughout the world
  4. This. I think we're a long way away from the frostbite engine coming to a GTA game (If it ever even happened, which it wouldnt) but flying 100 mph into a 1 inch thick tree should destroy the damn tree, not send me flying out of the windshield. I'd love to be able to pick up more random objects like crates. I could make a badass fort. If you mentioned trees you should also have also mention realistic trees. In GTA 4 and Saints Row The third the trees are horrible. They look like they're made out of paper. Is it that hard to make some realistic trees? Actually, I can imagine it's not simple for an open world game. If you want to make it look realistic, you need to apply physics to every single leaf and branch, otherwise a tree or a plant can never look realistic. You can have the most detailed 3D model of a tree, but if it moves like a stiff pole, it will still look like crap. Imagine a world full of trees (+forests, etc) and the engine has to calculate all independent motions of every leaf... we're not there yet technologically I think, but we're getting close in terms of computational power. I even think there's a company designing an add-on engine just for this.
  5. Very true, this is one of those things where realism gets in the way of fluid playability. I'm not saying to get back to the III-era movements, but the least they could do is make the character do a quick stop when turning and running the other way. (Let the guys at R* do a 'Cooper test', they'll get the idea afterwards)
  6. Finding some hiding spots would be cool as well as the line of sight idea. It's much more plausible than what has been done so far. And if they don't see you, they can set up a perimeter, depending on the crime you committed, the perimeter radius is larger. If there's an option to lose your heat by changing clothes, it would rock to head into clucking bell and come out wearing the yellow rooster costume and happily walk past the cops
  7. First off, I do agree with the police AI discussion. In RDR it was indeed well done that you got police (marchall) attention when you were seen or heard only, but even then they knew exactly where you were even when not in sight at all, this needs to change and I have a good feeling this will be fixed in V. (let's hope at least) But second, (and I'm saying this in general) the stuff people want is sometimes... well, awkward... shaving? groceries? it is a game, not a 'second life-with-a-twist-of-crime' sim. I think the biggest stunt R* has pulled off with this franchise is creating worlds where a lot of people actually believe they're really living in the game as they play it. It's a pretty impressive achievement but also a curse I think, cause the bar gets higher and higher, it always needs to get bigger for some people, which does not always mean better. I do admit I did this aswell when I was nearing my 20's when GTA III came out and the possibilities within my imagination were endless, especially after years of being addicted to the original topdown GTA's, where I also already pondered about the future where we might actually see all that rampage in 3D, but let's stay realistic. If all of these little details should be in there, we're talking a GTA on PS5/Xbox 1040 (or something). Well, just a little side thought from me
  8. If you look closely at this screenschot, it's pretty clear it's not just a static object in the background, it looks like it has depth to it and I can imagine standing on the roof of the tallest building next to it you'd have a pretty close up look on it. http://www.igta5.com/images/gta-5-trailer-1-airplane-flying-towards-los-santos.jpg Oops Treefitty, you already mentioned that scene, my bad
  9. I've never really been a big customization man myself, although it added a great addition in terms of things to do. Besides the obvious car modding, it'd be great to have more soundsystem options. Bigger bass boost options, so your windows really tremble and maybe break, and the ability to hook up your ingame 'Ipooed' (which would be a playlist you add from your PS3 system) Actually, nevermind
  10. Replayed VC a while back after so many years and completely forgot, there's blimps/dirigibles in there too! And those were indeed above the heightlimit and never appeared to come closer either. I do think you'll be able to get close to one this time around, but how the interactivity goes remains to be seen ofcourse.
  11. Definitely, storywise it's always interesting to explore that kind of family bond, but in the end, that's stuff we already deal with in real life. I can imagine it's not an easy task for R* to pull of the giant task of continuously creating a triple A story whilst guaranteeing the funfactor they've always delivered. I can see how fragile the perfect balance would become if the protagonist would have too much responsibilities, too much emotional ties with the player, and then making him do the craziest stuff ever imagined. It would detract from the story immersion. So far they've done a great job in that. So, the smartest thing imo would be not to touch the existing formula.
  12. Something that just comes to mind, it'd be cool to add some realism to the 'falling to your death' parts. Meaning, instead of bouncing around like a ball when you fall flat on your face from a helicopter, you actually make a huge bonecrunching smack along with bloodsplatters and cracks in the concrete. (I remember SA had a little cracking sound when you fell, but it can be more gruesome... ) Could even have your limbs twisted in unnatural ways depending on the way you land.
  13. Perhaps, that's the risk of trying to innovate, it could be a win or bomb completely... I wouldn't wanna be the R* employee who comes up with an idea that completely misses its mark, they'd be using you as the office dartboard for years!
  14. Thanks And yeah, ofcourse, and I'm one of them aswell, but it's a direction that could be taken if you think about the money issue. I'd be very pro if it were like this only for businesses you'd own. The rest of the payments we'll do in real life
  15. It's very plausible that you'll have to pay monthly rent on all houses you own (unless you buy) and it gets detracted from your onscreen wallet automatically. Also water/gas/electricity bills that need to get paid. You may start off in a little ordinary rented house or appartment, but as you acquire more property, you could actually sublet those properties, so you'll gain some income as a landlord while still having to pay for the property taxes. (this begs for a feature to kick your tenants out if they don't pay) I can see this going very far like in the end owning several businesses (eg. capitol records) and keep the profit flowing or having to lay down the books. (which would expand on the profit feature introduced in VC) Ofcourse it's not meant to become a simcity-type simulator, but they'd figure out a way to incorporate this on the side without getting it in the way of the basic GTA formula. My two cents... (get it... cents? money? ah well...)
  16. Just thought about this, previous characters already reacted to certain weather conditions like when it would rain, he'd wipe the rain from his face (IV), but it would be pretty cool if there was a storm, you'd actually feel the wind forces pounce in on you. Making your clothes flail around a bit (like when on a bike) and making walking more heavy going upwind, and downwind much easier (including the body animations that go with that ofcourse, even walking a bit criss-cross to hold your balance) Come to think of it, if they include a severe storm every now and then (not too much preferably), you could even get hit by flying debris. (thrashcans, newspaper in the face/windshield,...) Just dreaming, but it'd be cool nonetheless if they'd incorporate "little" things like this
  17. Hey guys, Been checking these pages for months, but finally came around to registering About the protag: It's also perfectly possible the narrator is talking about the past, so while he may sound like a 40/50+ man, he could be talking about when he first came to SA, so we'll actually be playing with him in his mid 30's. And I have a feeling we didn't even see a glimpse of the main character yet. This old guy we saw has a typical face like someone we'll be taking missions from. Could be someone connected to 'std contractors' (still lol when sayin' that one ), like Avery was in Vice City)
