  1. You win titles by getting the most value out of your team, not by signing great players for way too much until they're 40. I'm sorry, but that's what the Yankees have been doing, and they're looking like they're about the go into the toilet here. They might actually spend their way out of it, but it's pretty pathetic when you consider the Rays will probably easily compete with them despite spending a fraction of what they did on their team. Go figure. Cabrera isn't worth it dude. Hate to break it to you, but while he might be worth it in the immediate future he's almost guaranteed to not earn the value of this contract. 30M a year for a 1st baseman is a lot of money. You spend that kind of money on a centerfielder, catcher, or a shortstop just entering their primes and who has had a great resume to fall back on. You absolutely do not spend that kind of money on a first baseman who's already several years into his prime.
  2. LOL that Cabrera contract is a virtual guarantee to not be worth it. If you're going by FanGraphs WAR converted to $ values, he's only been worth what he's going to be making on average over the next 10 years on three occasions (the last 3 years). When you consider he's a power-hitting 1st baseman, who's a few years into his prime already, this is an absolutely terrible contract. I predict his SLG% is down by 100 points, and his OBP is down by over 50 points in about 5 years. Mike Trout's contract on the other hand is definitely worth it. He's young and likely has his best years ahead of him. He's a better overall player than Cabrera, too.
  3. The feeling of being drunk is not worth enduring the flavor of Jager. I like the flavor of black liquorice, and that's about what it tastes like.
  4. There's nothing wrong with not liking IPAs. It's not everyone's cup of tea. I can't get into hard liquors other than Jagermeister. Of course, a lot of top-shelf liquors are out of my budget. I'm not going to pay $50 for one bottle of whiskey when I can get a 12-pack of great beer for $11-14. Maybe there are some decent liquors for around $25 that I don't know about.
  5. You know the saying: "Beer is an acquired taste." Well, IPAs, strong ales, and stouts have very rich flavor profiles compared to other styles. They're really acquired-taste styles, even for beer-drinkers. Especially if you're partial to lighter/sweeter styles like lagers and wheats.
  6. Beers of all kinds, with a slight preference to IPAs. I generally drink microbrews, but I'll drink just about any beer if it's free. I can only really think of two "bad" beers, Blatz and Hamm's, and a lot of the other ones that are considered bad are just watery/not very good. http://purplefalcon.com/images/blog/beer/surly-furious-beer.jpg http://greatbrewers.com/sites/default/files/images/Product%20-%20Summit%20Saga%20IPA.JPG A couple of my year-round favorites.
  7. Beyond Creation is fantastic. You should check these out if you haven't:
  8. Not a fan of Acid Rap at all, I heard great things about it, I listened to it and was instantly bored by his production, mostly just a drum machine with some clapping effects and his voice, which is annoying at times, but one I could tolerate if the production was significantly better. Lamar is good, not sure if I'd call him the best today, the best popular MC for sure, but there are others who I'd say are at least on his level, but who are less popular and don't receive nearly the exposure. Guys like Aesop, El-P, MC Ride, etc.
  9. Other than this, 2013 was a very forgettable year for hip-hop IMO.
  10. For progfags. also.. Anyone else heard of these guys? Kind of sounds like Fear Factory, but with an orchestra playing behind the industrial/death metal rhythms.
  11. Hi, I'm Mark, and I like killing video game hookers after having video game sex with them.
