  1. yeah i know it was just europe. there must have been a reason for it. rockstar still decided to do a different cover art. obviously keeping the grand theft auto font. they could move away from the blocked artwork in the future.

According to Wikipedia it was because of 9/11.

The Europe boxart was the original one, but they said during one of their Q&A sessions, "The biggest change was the US packaging which remixed the previous packaging into what became our signature style – because the previous packaging [which was released as the cover of the game in Europe] was, we felt, too raw after 9/11."

  2. I didn't notice the new concept art until just now, thought i may as well discuss it in this thread.

I wonder what's in the Tornado Boot. What do you guys think? A person, a load of money, moonshine..? Probably a person.

Also, can anyone think of a good caption for this image?

I feel (considering each character holds a gun)

that there is a body in the boot of the car unless they are going to shot a pile of money (?????)

    What do you think?

Makes me think of either the part in Goodfellas where they pull over and stab that guy in the trunk to death, or that bit in Jackie Brown where there's the dead body in the trunk.

    Louis: Who's that?

    Ordell: That's Beaumont.

    Louis: Who's Beaumont?

Ordell: An employee I had to let go.

If you look and the estimate size, the area would be about as big, with liberty city having a lot of water and all

I don't know if this might be messing up your estimates, but you seem to be comparing the Chrysler Building and the US Bank Tower a little wrong.

While both building have a similar total height (1,046 ft Chrysler, 1,018 ft US Bank) its not exactly the same thing, as the US Bank Tower's height goes to it's flat roof while the Chrysler Building's includes it's spire, and your comparison images seem to be setting the image height of the US Bank tower not to the Chrysler Building's total spire height (which isn't visible in the images) but to it's roof which has a height of 925...cutting 93 ft for the building.

Just wanted to point that out.

  4. Trevor has a very familiar voice, but I can't quite pin it down. Also, fucking awesome trailer, favourite bit was the head-stomping. :D

he sounded like ice cube to me... i'll have another watch soon, but that was the first name that popped into my head...

When he says "I'll swing by and sign the contracts, all right? Just ignore the bodies." he sounds like Vincent D'Onofrio, who played the bug Edgar in Men In Black.

  5. One thing I did notice is that for whatever reason they never included Grand Central station, although if you go to the doors, you can see that they were intended to open, and if you remember, it was featured in the first trailer.

Actually the stained glass dome isn't from Grand Easton Station....if you go up on the roof of the building you'll see that there is no dome and none of the buildings seen through the dome are anywhere near Midtown Algonquin.

The glass dome is actually from the bank you rob in Chinatown. You can tell from the fact that you can see 40 Wall St. through the glass (in red). You can also see One New York Plaza from the glass as well (in green).

If you fly out and land on top of the bank you'll see the stained glass dome and the two skyscrapers as seen through it.

  6. IGN said, that you have to get past airport security to get a plane, so there is an interior for the airport.

I'm thinking that its more along the lines of outside security blocking you from getting planes personally.

    San Andreas style?

    Sorta yes.

Physical blocks to entering the airport, plus cops/security like in IV. That said I do want some airport interiors! It'd make a great mission location for something like a GTA Lufthansa heist.

  7. I think window interiors of floors you don't actually visit like in the FIB building will be mission only, like the hotel windows in that one Mafia II mission.

    First-Look-Mafia-II----The-Sleeper-Hit-Of-2009.jpg

I think making the interiors of major skyscrapers just for the heck of it would be a waste of disk space...who cares to look around some random office?

That said I think there will be tons more mission specific interiors this time around...and if we're really lucky we'll be able to go inside all those places off mission too. :)

  8. It sounds like you know what's going on better than I do...

First off Texas has a population of 25,674,681, in other words 25,000 people is a drop in the bucket.

But on this part here, I do realize 25,000 not a huge number compared to the total population, but the point in mentioning that number is they were supposed to reach it by December 9th, giving them a whole month (It was started on 11/09). They've reached that number in just three days. If this petition is using people outside of the state of Texas like the one you mentioned in Nevada, I could see how that number could be misleading though as well...

Edit: Oh and here's where I got those dates from

    https://petitions.wh...rnment/BmdWCP8B

OK, let me put this another way:

38,381 people have "signed" this meaningless "petition" to allow Texas to secede from the Union.

3,294,440 people voted for Obama in Texas.

  9. First off Texas has a population of 25,674,681, in other words 25,000 people is a drop in the bucket.

Also these petitions are meaningless. They aren't even from the governments of the states in question, nor is signing limited to citizens of those states (i.e. the Nevada one was posed by a 'Cody D Sparks' and signed by people from SC, MS, MO, IN, TX, TN, AZ, etc).

It's all moot anyway, the Supreme Court ruled in Texas v. White (1869) that no state that has entered the Union under the Constitution can ever leave that Union.

"The Union of the States never was a purely artificial and arbitrary relation. It began among the Colonies, and grew out of common origin, mutual sympathies, kindred principles, similar interests, and geographical relations. It was confirmed and strengthened by the necessities of war, and received definite form and character and sanction from the Articles of Confederation. By these, the Union was solemnly declared to 'be perpetual.' And when these Articles were found to be inadequate to the exigencies of the country, the Constitution was ordained 'to form a more perfect Union.' It is difficult to convey the idea of indissoluble unity more clearly than by these words. What can be indissoluble if a perpetual Union, made more perfect, is not?"

So, to summarize, this is all so pointless. :)

    -EDIT-

For fucks sake, 'New York' is one of the states wanting to secede from the Union over Obama? He won that state 63% to 36%! Shit, the guy who posted that one isn't even from there! He's from North Dakota! This is the most made-up bullshit ever! :v
