  1. The electroplating case wasn't as long as i'd hoped, but the beginning was quite good with the grainy filter while driving through the ash cloud with cars whizzing towards you.

i thought they had a robbery desk they removed from the game??

Burglary and fraud. (With R*s usual cryptic answers - "In a recent post by Rockstar Support on an official forum, a person asked whether Burglary or Fraud would be available in the future as DLC, Rockstar Support replied: 'We have not released all of the details about DLC and the full release schedule but we can guarantee there is more content on the way!")

  2. Vice City is why you call yourself ViceMan?

    Why yes indeed it is.

    tl;dr

When I started playing a game called Jedi Academy online I called myself Darth Vice in honour of Vice City. But soon after I joined a clan and with my clantags my name wouldn't fit, so I mustered all of my creative powers and came up with the revolutionary and trend-setting name... ViceMan - the name that you know and love today.

  3. The bums were going to be part of a mission to blow things up, and were going to have a "lead bum" called Darkel (I think) who gave you the missions. But they were removed after 9/11, along with the ability to shoot people's limbs off - that however remained in a cheat. I think the bum mission eventually found its way into the game though as El Burro's "I Scream, You Scream".

I jumped from GTA2 to San Andreas so I totally missed it. I think I have bought III later but I've never found time to play it. After playing GTA SA, it'll be a step back, but maybe a step back I'll just have to make one day. I'm sure I'll like it, but it can't possibly make such an big impression on me as San Andreas did. No game can do that on a 2D TV screen.

A gang war in the Las Colinas area scared me up out of the city and into the bush. A large group with automatic weapons was after me and I had little health and could easily die. It was like an exercise in the army...

And there are a hundred other unforgettable memories. But enough about San Andreas, I'm a bit off topic here.

You mean you never played Vice either?! Blasphemer! You really should play them as they are still great to play, and you'll be rewarded when all the plot pieces fit together, it'll give you a sense of accomplishment.

  4. To remove the classic car names like the Infernus, Stallion, Banshee etc. would be a crime, those cars have been part of the series since III. Also it's another opportunity for R* to take humourous jabs at real world car companies. Having real world cars would spoil the game for me, most other games nowadays have real cars, so in that sense GTA is unique.

  5. The graphics were the shit at the time, now they're just shit.

I remember the anticipation after I bought it; opening the case, looking at the manual, then putting the disc in my tight PS2 slot. Mmmmmm.

  6. Gameplay footage leaked from a video apparently scheduled to play at E3.

    Looks pretty fucking sweet!

    LOL!

The jumping actions are actually pretty good!

    Pros:

+ Jerky running camera effect when following vehicles.

    + Realistic animations.

    + Intelligent AI.

+ Good sound and ambient effects.

    + Realistic damage values.

    Cons:

    - Same music selection as Vice City.

    - Same mission complete audio as Vice City.

    - Vehicles appear limited to 5mph.

    - Missions seem extremely difficult with no real learning curve.

    - Clock appears stuck at 15:47.

    Overall 7/10.

(P.S I lol'd when the guy waited for those people who obviously weren't involved to pass before he carried on on the moped. :D)

  7. I finished the story last night. I'm on 68 percent, not in a rush for 100 percent completion though, I think I will come back to it in a couple of weeks. I found a glitch; I was looking around outside a house, while canvassing neighbours on one of the cases and found I could run up the steps to the side door, straight up the wall and onto the roof.

I can see the 1947 headline now:

Breaking news! LAPD Detective discovers knack for scaling buildings; claims healthy diet and fondling naked corpses daily is the key.

  8. Fuck 5-starring all cases, it took me three attempts to 5-star the "The Driver's Seat" case because I kept forgetting not to crash my car. :D

Instead I thought it'd be funny to accuse everyone of lying (especially the honkys) and provide completely unrelated clues as proof to see what they say. Just think, most people will never hear two thirds of the game's audio.

the first ever NASCAR sponsor, CRAWLAKILL INSECT SPRAY... i made a $100/win, it was nice... actually, this is part of a bench that stuck to the car just right... it fell off as soon as i took the picture :(...

collected all the film reels, some were hidden in clever spots, some were hidden in obvious spots that pissed me off when i finally found it... also discovered all landmarks, and only have arson left to 5-star... also only need to find about a dozen cars...

i almost have this beast finished :D... but i'll have to work on a couple of trophies that aren't part of the 100% process as well...

Happened to me too, but the bench was stuck on the front of the car.

  10. I've noticed a slight glitch where Phelps hairline morphs when you press square to ask your partner for advice, but you have you be zoomed in quite close to notice it. Basically he grows a little bit of a sideburn while speaking, then after he's finished it reverts back to how it was before. I'll get some footage in a mo'.

  11. Here's the first five street crimes from the traffic desk, I don't know if you already have them:

    Shoo Shoo Bandits

    3rd/Hill Street

A man sitting on the steps of the Angels Flight railway claims to have been mugged by armed robbers.

Run up the steps and into the alleyway on the left and shoot the two robbers, one will attempt to escape in a car but you can easily stop him before this happens.

    Boxing Clever

    267 Main Street

A man is raiding a drugstore. As you enter he flees out the back of the building narrowly avoiding being run down by a car.

After he hops the fence give chase and follow him up the ladder onto the construction site, when he reaches the top he'll have nowhere to go. Avoid his punches and knock him out with a melee attack.

    Pawnshop Holdup

    333 Main Street

A pawnshop is being held up by three armed robbers who have taken a hostage.

Run round the back of the building and take out the first two gunmen. Then climb the stairs to the roof where the third gunman has a hostage, wait for a clear shot at the gunman without killing the hostage.

    Masked Gunman

    6th/Ceres Avenue

A woman tells you a masked gunman is firing from the rooftops.

Climb the ladder then immediately slide down the drainpipe, hop the fence and run around the corner. Shoot the gunman without hitting any civilians.

    Amateur Hour

    829 Olive Street

A dressmakers is being robbed by a gang of thieves.

Enter through the hole in the wall and take cover beside the doorway. Kill the guy who pops up from behind the front counter then climb the stairs slowly and turn around, take out the two guys who appear from behind cover. Run back down the stairs and out the way you came in where Bekowsky is lying on the floor, run past him and the woman will be getting into a car. No need to grab your own as she'll crash into a wall about 20ft away (typical woman driver) approach the car to apprehend her.

  12. +1

And we may as well talk about the ending of the story now...

Only read this if you've completed the game!

I really enjoyed the last mission in the sewers, and i wished there was a little bit more action like this through-out. The game was fun and interesting, but the balance was all wrong. I feel that there was far too much clue searching and chasing suspects than there was actual gun fighting or any other combat.

The ending really pissed me off. I hate the fact that Phelps died. I feel they could have explained a little more about him as a character, like why the fuck did he cheat on his wife with that German bitch... I was hoping Phelps would have survived and Kelso had got flushed away... But now that happened, how will new DLC work? they can't do anything with phelps beyond that point, so it'll either have to be before/whilst the main story took place, or they'd have to carry on with Kelso

Yeah it got really weird at the end, when the "House of Sticks" mission began I didn't know what the fuck was going on. I also feel a bit of explanation is required. Maybe the DLC will add new missions into the existing story, thus requiring us to play through the story again. I felt the vice desk was particularly short, the Naked City case (when we get the chance to play it) hopefully will add a bit more to it.
