  1. So to summarize, most people agree that the parking spots from 4 did not work very well (at least not as the only way save cars). Most everyone would like to see the return of large garages to store multiple cars (and air craft I guess). I think a mix of garages and parking spot would be acceptable?

It would also be nice if we didn’t have to worry about losing our nice cars every time we took them for a spin. on the other hand most people agree that the SR system is to easy (no unlimited reloads of any car we save accessible from any safe house).

I think the greatest solution to this problem is, as some others have brought up, to have a car that you own and will simply not disappear no matter where you leave it. To clarify I do not mean that it will always appear in your garage or it will just show up next to you after a mission. If you park it on a back country road then that were it will be until you go get it. This is how I see it working...

so you still have garages and parking spots, but you can have 1 car (for each character I guess) that you own. you can drive it around, park it, do missions and come get it later. Now I think it is reasonable that this car is "mortal", that is if you wreck it, it’s gone forever. if it just re-spawns then we are back to SR again. Of course maybe there can be a way to pay to fix it, assuming it didn’t blow up or sink into the ocean. if you get arrested in it then it will impounded and you can pay to get it out. it could be stolen if you leave it in the wrong part of town, but maybe there could be a small side mission where you could track it down and get it back. In 4 you could shut down the engine by holding Triangle as got out, maybe that could work here for locking the car. if it isn’t locked then there is a chance it will be stolen. In fact there could be all kinds of security upgrades you could pay for (back to the subject of what to spend money on) alarms, GPS tracking, ect.

Just some ideas, I think it would be nice. I do not see why we cannot do this at this point. if they could do it with a horse in RDR then they should be able to do it with a car... right?

  2. Those of you that are wondering what to expect in the wilderness, and hasn't seen or been to L.A.'s extended countryside (like me) then have a watch of some of the videos here i found. They really do give you a great perspective on things.

Nice videos. I have always wanted tot make the hike to the bridge but have never found the time. maybe this spring.

by that logic nothing would be diffrent, why would there be 3 charecters? they can change it to how ever they want. I am now thinking, however, that you guys are right and it will be a large island.

Not really, because they change aspects that will affect gameplay value. Whether you're on an Island or a piece of land with invisible walls doesn't do that, so why would they change it?

I don't know, it is kind of a matter of opinion. Why was RDR not an island? if it does not matter and it is what R* always does, and under your logic it is impossible to change something if it does not have a tangible effect that you recognize, then why did they not make RDR an island? ( sorry for the poor sentence structure, I didn’t feel like fixing it)

  3. i think that if you get busted you sould be abel to buy your car and weponds back

why because it would suck to lose a car you stole and the cops inpound it so you can't have

it would also be cool if they brout the car crusher back so you can get money.

I rememebr in VC Storys you could buy all of your weapons back if you were killed. I think that worked pretty well. I think they went to far in GTA4 by letting you keep everything when you died. I would like a system where when you die or are buster you lose everything, but you have the option of buying everything back if you would like. I have a feeling it is going to be like GTA4 though.

  4. Why would it be any different from every other GTA entry (bar III)? It will obviously be an island. It just makes sense. There's no point comparing it to RDR, because that's a different franchise, as are Midnight Club and LA Noire.

Also, if only this was the map :jumpy:

by that logic nothing would be diffrent, why would there be 3 charecters? they can change it to how ever they want. I am now thinking, however, that you guys are right and it will be a large island.

  5. I agree that GTA4 did a good job at pulling off the realisim, but I dont always want that from GTA. I dont go "hey I want some realisim, lets play GTA". if I wanted realistic driving I would be playing GT5. I actually liked the driving in GTA4, but I think they could make it a little more managable.

lol realism true, that freaking game takes everything into account, up to a point where it matters what type of tires you are using....

of course we do not want that, but something that looks and feel realistic, as opposed to saints row for example that I can literally go 120mph and make a quick turn without stopping, and if I did stop the car would literally turn to much..... we do not want that and I believe I speak for most people here.

Agreed, I think there is a nice balance in there that GTA4 almost had. I am confident that the driving will be very enjoyable.

  6. I think clothing/accesorys, weapons and weapon mods, maybe diffrent types of armor (there could be the regular GTA armor, but then there are more effective and costly versons you can buy). food of course, but without the customazation feature it is sort of pointless. I like the idea of buying cars, but why buy when you can steal. buying property is put but modifications to people homes could be in there. Air Craft? culd be nice and costly. bribes to keep the authoritys off of you.

Im thinking that if you do purchase a car, it spawns in your garage until you pick another one. That way no more just letting it sit there because you dont want to lose it. I admit it does kind of defeat the purpose of the game itself, but it adds to the experience. Fingers crossed on the skis though, goddamnit yes. If we do see snow, im hopeing snowmobiles come along with it as well, becasue we all want to rip down sunset blvd on a sled.

I dont think I like the respawning car in the garage idea for GTA. you know, should we be at the point where we can have a car that just wont dissapear? I mean even GTA4 did a good job at keep ing your car when you started a mission why couldnt we have a desgnated car that wont dissapear no matter what? you could still wreack or someone could jack it and it would be gone, but if you left it n the side of the road it would probably still be there if you came back a week later. I do not see why this would be that hard? it would be like your horse in RDR, except its a car and you cant call it over to you.

  7. I wouldn't call robbing a jewelry store walking a tightrope myself. That's pretty much off the tightrope.

It dependsn what you conseder over the edge. for a crimnal like micheal robbing a jewelry store may be nothing.

Was wondering about this earlier, will Franklin be the only person who can steal a parked car? A modern, immobilised regular car I mean, not a dune buggy or atv.

    Would that be too limiting?

Guess they could teach each other skills through the game to unlock it a bit more. Trevor teaching flying would be interesting..

I have not seen anything that has indcated that level of limitation. I really doubt they would do that since stealing cars, parked or not, is the staple of GTA.

  8. I dont know, at this point I could see it going ether way. I do not think that endless desert would be much more difficult then endless water since, as gmt said, the ocean floor is detailed and so it would basiccly be the same thing. in fact the desert might even be easeier because you are not adding a bunch of water on top of it.

  9. When I first read the topic title I was skeptical. I mean signs and cameras in the game mean nothing, those are in all GTA games just to add to the enviroment. its like having parking meters or traffic lights.

after reading your whole post, however, I must say that I am not so skeptical now. I dont think the fact that there are cameras in the trailors really menas anything. what I do think is that having cameras and other obsticals would fit in with their heist based game play. there are all kinds of oppurtunitys here. good topic man.

I also think you could be right about hiring extra men. we actually saw that in VC. there were multible missions to build your team up for bank robbery. if one, or two of your guys got killed you got a bigger cut. so lets say you are palnning a bank robbery in GTA5, you could do it with just 3 guys and your cut would be $300,000 or you could hire a 4th guy (maybe he is an expect safe cracker and so you are in the bank for a shorter amount of time) to make it much easier but your cut will now only be $225,000. I think that is very logical.

it aslo brings up how the whole wanted mechanics could be changed. up to now all GTAs have had it so the cops are ether chasing you are not. it is an active wanted system and the only time it isnt is when the stars are flashing for a few seconds after hitting the pay and spray. so why not have an active and inactive wanted system. by that I mean the cops could be looking for you, but they are not activly chasing you down. then if they find you then its the old style GTA chase.

  10. I do think it will be an island, otherwise we'll be flying into invisible walls'n shit

I dont think so, look at RDR. They did a good job of making natural boundrys to limit the map. I think we will see something more like RDR, not an island.

So there will be mountains so tall you can't fly over them? I doubt they'd do that. But i guess its possible. Seems like a step backwards though, anyone remember Smugglers Run? Every edge was surrounded by tall un-climbable mountain and hill slopes.

I didnt mean that the mountains would stop you in a air craft. I honestly wasnt even thinkiing about flying. I guess if you fly out it will eventually just be an island. they are ether going to have an invisable wall, or you can just fly over water forever. they could make it endless desert just as easily, right?

  11. I think it would be badass if there was a mob boss that was forcing these guys to do the heists, maybe micheals old gangster friends, and if not they kill his kids or something. Cus I personally think the "therapist" scene in the second trailer was actually a guy threatening micheals son.

Good point, we do not actually have any proof that he is really a therapist. I think it was just an assumption made because a thereapist is mentoned at the end of the trailor.

I'm really looking forward to not having to do missions for some asshole chump. It seems like having three protagonists makes it possible for them to generate their own ideas and missions. It would be fun to play as the both the mission giver and the mission doer.

I am thinking that a mob boss forcing Micheal back into the game is a good way to start it off, but after they get rid of that guy micheal finds that he does not want to quit.
