  1. By population yes, but by area no.

Thanks, some sites say, "NY is slightly bigger with a bigger population" and "LA is bigger than NY" and so on.

I knew that LA was bigger because I come from a place in Australia which is very sprawl-like and hence compared to LA but I was surprised by what I found when I went looking for info to back it up. Apparently, for cities with a population greater than one million people, the largest cities by land area are (in order) Houston, Phoenix, LA (468 sq. miles), San Antonio, Dallas, San Diego, NYC (302 sq. miles).

There's my education for the day.

The thing about the LA area is that there are a lot of cities around it that are clumped in with LA but are technically their own city. So LA may be 500 sq miles but then it just melds into other big cities surrounding it. New York is very dense and doesn't sprawl out as much as LA does. I can believe Huston has a larger area because unlike LA it is the only real city in the intimidate area. All of the suburban areas around it belong to Huston while in LA most of the suburban areas are actually their own towns. My point is that So-Cal is like one big city and LA is only a part of it

They better be more precise on locations of the map cause in san andreas the los angeles forum was in the long beach area of the san andreas world and not inglewood (idlewood) and now I see an arena type building in the pics of the san pedro bridge which is pretty far from inglewood

I do not think that is all that important. we already know the Salt Sea is to the north when in reality it is to the far south east. They are creating their own world based on the real California, correct geography is not important.

  2. I think i read somewhere that JC2 is 400sq miles. GTAV is 20-30sq miles... JC2's map was so repetitive and lifeless though, you wont get that in GTA.

That sounds about right. It is not the size that matters but what you do with it.

Do we have a consensus on the size of RDR, because earlier in this topic it seemed decided that it was actually only 6 sq miles. so what is it?

  3. Wholy fuckin shit there is a first person view. they must have read every page of out What are you looking for in GTA 5 i posted first person driving cam at least 4 times.

Which screen are you talking about having a first person view?

no man no screen of it. it's words end of page 2 beginning of 3

makes me wonder if they will force us into 1st person camera angles for cinematic purposes like in this screencap....

    trailer-3f-eye-in-the-sky.jpg

for all we know, that could be trevor's point of view on this particular mission... i do wonder how they'll manage that aspect...

I'm thinking just for cinematic and mission purposes. In the article it says Trevor's view is first person mostly because he's looking through binoculars (mission oriented)..

I was thinking that if they have the cinematic view button return from 4 (where you hit O and it gives you a random cinematic view) and you hit it during a police chase it might give you that first person view from the police chopper.

  4. On the subject of horse, Police forces all around the world (and i assume the LA Pigs too),usually use horses as riot control.....Could happen, but i wouldn't be bothered either way, I am still shitting my pants about sharks, customization and the fact you can buy property.

I don't think the LAPD use Horses, at least not to any great extent. I could be wrong, I avoid LA at all cost. \

If there are horses I wonder if you will be able to ride?

If horses are rideable, why not other animals as well?

For instance Bulls. Maybe their could be a mini-game involving Bull Riding ( like a Rodeo or something ), I could see Trevor getting down with something like this.

Or maybe there could even be a Rodeo Clown mini-game.

I could see that, it is to bad they didn't have Bull riding in RDR.

Fleas confirmed, you'll have to buy dog shampoo and give Chop a bath twice a week.

    Just kidding.

and if you are not careful then your dog can get ticks and die from lime disease.

  5. Roughly about-

    RDR- 28 square miles

    Gta SA- 13.9 square miles

    Gta IV- 12 square miles

Hold up, This was discussed earlier and it was decided that RDR is actually smaller then SA. I can't find the post.

Are there any resorts like this in California?

The northern SF bay area, most people go to the Sierras, which is mainly Nevada.

    Lots of resorts there.

In the south most LA people go to Mammoth for skiing and boarding.

There are spots in So-Cal as well. Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead areas in the San Bernardino Mountains for example. May not be Aspen, but they are nice.

  6. GeneticallySuperior; you always have the most interesting post. thanks for the information.

I have my doubts about surfing, but I wouldn't be surprised by anything at this point.

I have high hopes that there will be some sort of gambling in this game. maybe some underground poker or fighting (like in TBOGT). CA does have legal track betting. Of course there is always the Indian casinos as GS mentioned.

  7. If they do decide to have a Catalina type island (I have not seen any evidence that there will be) then we might get Buffalo again (or Bison I guess)

What are you trying to say? And why are you replying to something from 2011?

Sometimes people who are not used to message boards forget to look at the dates of post before responding. I decided to ignore it.

  8. What I would like to see is four or five missions leading up to a heist that would be prep work. Stealing a get away car, taking a photo of a blue print etc. You wouldn't need to do all or any of the prep missions before the heist, but if you chose to skip them then things would go wrong, and the heist would be more difficult to complete. This way someone who put the work in and did the prep missions would see a much smoother (and maybe more profitable) heist, while people who wanted to rush in without the prep work would have to fight their way out resulting in a messier and harder job.

Sounds like this is how it is going to work. not sure about the how optional the prep missions will be though.

I'd rather not be guided in the prep stages. I'd like to think for myself, rather than be prompted to "Look for a fast getaway car and place it in the alley off of Fuckstick Boulevard". I hope they'll implement a difficulty system that affects the level of guidance.

I agree, this is what I want.
