  1. Yes, in Bully you could ride all the rides in the Carnival. Also, in VCS you could ride the Chunder Wheel, so doesn't that count as being able to ride a ride?

Also, in my opinion, putting a theme park in a GTA game would be like putting in a supermarket: the added detail is awesome, but not really practical.

But heck, if they added in TV and stage shows, why the hell can't they add a working theme park to kill time in?

  2. Hi all,

Since there has been little to no info on GTAV since it was announced, the rumour mill has been grinding non-stop in the these forums. I've been following the GTA series for a while now, so I thought I'd share some funny fan speculation about the previous game in the series, just for shits and giggles!

Please feel free to add any rumours you remember hearing/reading to add to the hilarity!

    GTA IV

GTAIV was originally theorised to be set in a totally new city (most said London).

Early on, it was said that Niko could climb telegraph poles.

One fan insisted that the game would expand on San Andreas' RPG elements so much that Niko would have to brush his teeth (A fond memory for all)

A LOT of people said that the two DLC packs would include Vice City and San Andreas as new areas.

    Vice City Stories

VCS was rumoured to be a sequel to Vice City, set in either 2001 or present day.

Mitch Baker was rumoured to be the main character, as was Leo Teal.

One fan insisted that there was no way that you could play as Vic Vance, since he was dead, nor was he important.

Another rumour suggested that the plot involved Vic and Lance being kicked out of the trailer park, as it was being developed into real estate by Avery Carrington.

    Liberty City Stories

It was announced early on that the first PSP title would be set in Liberty City, so that kinda killed the rumour mill a bit.

Of course, fans automatically assumed that you would play as a younger CJ during his time in Liberty City.

Some also assumed that it would be a direct sequel to GTA 3.

Many of course hoped that the tunnel would open up Carcer City.

One rumour (that I stupidly bought into straight away) suggested that the tunnel would be open and would lead to Vice City.

    San Andreas

It was originally rumoured to be called GTAIV: Sin City

“Speculation about the next GTA is going strong and of course IGN isn't immune. Their latest "Off the record" column restates a rumor about the next GTA being based in Los Angeles during the LA riots. Personally I think their rumor is more than a little far fetched.”

Many were under the belief that SA would have ragdoll and "impact" physics.

Early magazines suggested that you would loose health and armour in big crashes.

    Vice City

It was originally rumoured to be called GTA:Miami and was thought to be an expansion pack for III.

It was later rumoured to be called "GTA: Vice".

GTA IV was rumoured to be the next full GTA game, continuing the story from GTA III. (This turned out to be partially true).

Vice City is not a sequel, nor is it a prequel, and it certainly isn't an addon. It's just another slice of the GTA "universe".

“GTA: Miami will be released for the PS2 this fall. Very little is known at this point, but GTA: Miami is believed to be a GTA3 expansion pack that will continue GTA3's story line.

Many fans insisted that they saw bullet holes in the car windscreen in some trailers.

Tommy was rumoured to have the ability to swim.

It was rumoured that you could be eaten by sharks while swimming.

    GTA III

It was rumoured that 3 would be released on Gamecube and Dreamcast.

“GTA3 is set completely in Liberty City, but sectioned off into three parts, Brooklyn/Queens (mostly industrial), Manhattan (mostly commercial), and New Jersey (suburban). You can travel from one section to another via trains, tunnels, bridges, and even ferries. Each of these subsections is broken down into smaller sections with posh areas, run down areas, docks, etc.”
(This is mostly accurate, but doesn't it sound a lot like a newer GTA game?)
“The radio stations will feature news reports to detail your latest criminal activities and may give you clues as to the police presence in the area.”
“Your ex-girlfriend, who was originally mentioned in Game Informer's article, is named Miguel.”

As I said, feel free to contribute what you remember, or dig around and see if you can find something funny!

  3. What other genres of music are people looking forward to hearing more of that aren't rap or metal?

I'm personally looking forward to hearing what's on the station that'll have "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake". A pyschadelic rock station perhaps?

I gotta love the classic rock like LRR in IV, and K-DST in SA. I do love the 80's music as well, but it doesn't really fit the setting in GTAV.

I'm sure Rockstar will surprise us!

  4. As I always love to do in my other posts around this forum, let's play the comparison game!!!!

San Andreas' map is said to be 13.9 square miles (36 km's sq)

GTA IV's map is roughly 6 square miles (10km's sq)

RDR's map is (unconfirmed, but Rockstar did mention) 2.5 times bigger than SA, so 16.4 square miles (68 km's sq?)

L.A Noire's map is roughly 8 square miles (13km's sq)

I personally thought that IV and LA Noire's maps were pretty darn big, so anything bigger than 9 miles would leave me floored for years.

But what does a big map matter if there's nothing interesting to do or see? If the surrounds of LS in V are anything like RDR, it'd be great! But you have to admit that SA had a lot of boring areas where nothing much was going on (parts of the desert, farms, forests, rivers ect.)

  5. Realistic gore and GTA sounds like a great combination... if you want the game to be BANNED.

The reason the gore was so toned down in GTA IV was because of the controversy that has ALWAYS surrounded the series. If you add over-the-top sadism to the series, it'll go in the same direction as Manhunt (which was banned/toned down).

If I were to add my 5c, I'd agree with the fellow who said the RDR blood and bullet-hole effects would be fine.

If I were to add my 10c, I'd be happy with whatever Rockstar produces, because if always enjoyed it in the past. Sure, everybody wants a big map, but we'll get that.

With expectations, Rockstar never seems to be able to win with all their fans. Most fans scream "Make it more like SA!" but we all know that if you want SA, play SA. Rockstar isn't going to just remake San Andreas with every GTA the release, or the critics will be screaming "It's just another SA again..." (I can think of a certain FPS series that likes to make the same game over and over).

It actually sounds to me like a lot of you just want to play Saints Row 4, not GTA 5. <_<

  6. Just to give people some idea of how far apart they released vids during IV's marketing campaign:

    Trailer 1 - March 29 2007

    Trailer 2 - June 28, 2007

    Trailer 3 - November 28, 2007

    Trailer 4 - March 27, 2008

The first trailer for V was released on November 2nd, so not really following the 27,28,29 pattern. BUT Rockstar did say a few months back "We will try and get some more screens for you soon and then another trailer when we are ready."

We just got the screens, so trailer next?
