  1. the opera singer version of the emitter seems to be working decent for me... i used it to take out an entire fleet of sentrybots near the yangtze camp, and various other robots at the construction site... it might take a few more shots, and you probably have to get a little closer than you would like to with such a weak weapon, but it surely worked better than me using my best gun weapon... the unique proton axe works better up close... i tested the pulse gun out and it was inferior to the emitters... these robots in the crater seem to have armor that protects against high levels of pulse signals... i guarantee the emitter will kick some robot ass in the mojave :D...

    my next quest is going to take me to "THE FORBIDDEN ZONE!!"... lol, i like the way the scientists say that :lol:... for some reason this place reminds me of futurama, not sure why...

    i've got only a few sink friends left to reboot... the sink, lightswitch 2, bio station, and mugsy... most of them have their upgrades too... i wonder if this game requires you to finish all active quests before you leave, like honest hearts... i think it's more like point lookout in that you can do them whenever...

  2. the sonic emitter said it dealt bonus EMP damage, just like the pulse gun... same with the proton axe... however, the pulse gun only deals 4 damage for me, compared to 22 for the sonic emitter... however, the pulse gun does shoot better than the emitter... still not sure if it's worth trying out, there's so much loot in big mountain that i would rather save that extra 2 lbs. for a couple of rolls of duct tape :P... bones doesn't have a high barter skill so i don't have the perks that entails... every bit of storage room is vital... delilah can carry 4,000 lbs. of loot and still fast travel...

    you know, i tackled X-8 first and strangely when the alarm would go off at the terminal, it would reset the enemies in the level... i think it was part of a test program but i do like it... i don't mind fighting the same enemies again, it adds more XP and no where else in the mojave does interior enemies re-spawn anyways...

    i have used the fully modded sniper rifle a bit outside, but it's pretty useless indoors... i have gotten quite a few sneak critical kills with it, especially on nightstalkers, same with the fully modded .45... i find the K9000 is adequate outside as well... my characters skills are just not catered to this style of combat though, just the same as it was in dead money... this add-on is more suited for delilah once again :D... honest hearts and i am assuming lonesome road will be more catered to bones' style...

    but alas, i will trek on, and continue to discover the secrets of big mountain... i am sure i will do just fine, i have afterall, logged over a 175 hours with this file, i think i can handle the constant threat of robots :D... the ghost people are still the toughest enemy from all the add-ons... so far... i have seen footage of a gigantic roboscorpion, and i've heard rumors of a legendary bloatfly as well... but i think i can manage a few robots, unless a pack of securitrons want to start some shit :lol:...

    aight, time to sort out the inventory and make my way to X-13... i am sure i'll get side-tracked on the way :P....

  3. the NCR route is the reason why my main character is constantly teetering near the cap level... there's tons of quests and money opportunities with the NCR route... the independent route might have a lot of quests and cap opportunities too...

    @synch - wow, i never noticed that!! the scientists do call it big mountain, but the initials do say big empty :lol:... nice find!! it all makes sense now, in a post-war kind of way... scavengers that pass through, see big MT, which when you tell the tale, sounds like big empty...

    i was out scoring a bag of some stanky dank last night, "platinum" to be exact... god i love living in a medical state, good weed is EVERYWHERE!! but i was out late late last night... hopefully today is the day to plow through some of the labs...

    lol @ synch, who lol'd @ penis feet :lol:... that had me in stitches... i wish i could exactly remember what he said, but something about penises on your feet... i couldn't stop laughing throughout that conversation, he kept going on and on about it :lol:... but then again, these doctors haven't had any human interaction in centuries... they kept rambling on and on and on and...

    believe it or not, but i can handle crowds of lobotomites... i can drop them in 1-2 shots every time... and i also brought the .45 with me, which can rip off 6-7 VATS shots, easily enough to put down a few enemies before i whip out the riot shotgun or proton axe...

    but those robots take more damage... i didn't try it, but i wonder if the pulse gun is more effective than the sonic emitter... i did bring it with me... but if i can get in close enough the proton axe works just fine...

  4. i didn't know the exact figures but i knew it was going to cost more than i wanted to spend... i should of brought a good light armor... there's plenty of light armor to jury rig up with for joshua graham's armor or the assassin suit...

    the proton axe is my most effective weapon so far... hopefully i can find something better soon, or perhaps some better armor soon too... ahem, the assassin suit-lookin' armor perhaps... the K9000 is fun, but not very effective in this environment...

    ohh, forgot to mention... this add-on is fucking funny!! they are really laying on the dark humor here... the initial conversation with the think tanks took 20 minutes, but i laughed a lot during it :lol:... there's plenty of humor in the terminals too...

  5. before i even got to big MT, i had one of those "hell yea!" moments when a group of jackals were walking just past the big screen at the drive-in... i launch a grenade from thump-thump over a hill and see only one threat left on the radar... i walk over there and find 4 dead jackals in a pile :D...

    -----------------------

    the sink does make a nice little bungalow doesn't it?? got one of the items working, the one with all the "functions"... and my initial impressions are very impressive, game locked up again though... i've entered a couple of labs and tackled one of the main quests, and found about a gazillion things to scavenge through... i don't think a level 15 person could handle those roboscorpions though, unless you really do need an energy weapons background for this add-on... i've decided to roll with the lobotomite jumpsuit for now since i am not paying 8,000 caps to repair my desert ranger armor, which is torn up... these robots can deal quite the damage here... i am thinking i should bring thump-thump along for the added protection...

    ohh, one last thing, i now know what D stands for;

    bones10.jpg

    :P...

  6. installed, at the main menu, bowl packed, drink made, sexting with DiO, and eating the fuel to keep me going all night... can't wait to start :D...

    EDIT: and now my fucking friend calls me to try and hammer out a fantasy baseball deal!! dammit, and i just loaded the game save too!! i'll be singing the blues soon...

    EDIT2: and it LOCKS UP shortly after loading big mountain... saw the intro, and the first glimpse of the facility was amazing!! too bad all the stuff it had to load crashed the system...

  7. hopefully i see some good news from the playstation blog here in the next couple of hours... i usually have to wait until around 6PM for the playstation store to update... i noticed xbox does much earlier store updates, but playstation does get game updates much sooner... not sure what i was getting at with that :P...

    massacre hasn't posted since late last night, he got his from steam... i guess he must be enjoying it...

  8. it's just a bunch of nerdy speculation... tomorrow we'll know all the facts about the research facility and the reason why you're there...

    i think my money is on the facility being carved out of an old pre-war nuclear test site... i like the idea of a facility inside the meteor crater in arizona, but i think with it being a national roadside attraction it wouldn't be ideal for putting in a super secret R&D laboratory... i think it's inside a nuclear test area... perhaps even just a few miles south of this location;

    http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Old_nuclear_test_site

    it is after all, just a few clicks SW of the mojave drive-in ;)...

    i just found a location NW of las vegas called the nevada test site, where they tested nuclear weapons from the 50's and beyond... this could be the location and ties in the car wreckage as well...

    doe_nts_nf121.jpg

    perhaps this sinkhole is a bit deep... but then again, fallout takes a creative license from pre-existing landscapes... new vegas isn't exactly like las vegas geographically either...

  9. well, montana hosts the most popular big mountain... crater lake in oregon could be a choice as well since it's also actually a mountain... the giant crater from AZ isn't a mountain at all... just a giant indent in the middle of a desert... it fits the name of "the sink", but i still can't figure out why the facility is called big mountain... it's just a giant dome...

    and i haven't seen a desert-like environment with the big empty yet... i've seen fake grass and vegetation, but no desert or forest... it's all inside i giant crater formed somehow...

  10. hey, i just traveled to the canyon wreckage, and it looked different to me... or, maybe i forgot what the wreckage looked like before, but it looks different for some reason... i thought it used to be a pile of wreckage, now it kinda looks like a passageway... i don't know anymore...

    mojave outpost looks the same...

    field's shack highway looks the same...

    so, after exploring the car wreckage and the mojave drive-in, it's come to my attention that both locations bare the "goshua graham lives" and "the burned man walks" graffiti... lonesome road is lonesome road, but i recall seeing the same graffiti on the abandoned bunker... but it just doesn't add up, big MT is in montana, and that's a long ways away from the mojave, and the wrong direction from from the car wreckage... unless, big MT refers to this one;

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Mazama

    which is located in oregon, which would be the right direction from the car wreckage, and has the same kind of layout, except this one is filled in with water, crater lake to be exact... but, it's very possible that it was drained to create a super RD lab...

    because creating the big empty inside an active volcano is just donwright idiotic, and that's also what big MT is, mt. st. helens in montana... using a prehistoric-made crater from a collapsed volcano for the lab makes more sense to me...

    here's the crater without water;

    Mazama_bathymetry_survey_map.jpg

    here's the crater in old world blues

    720px-BigEmptyMap.png

    or maybe it's located somewhere south, which would totally confuse me... but, where else are you going to find a location near vegas like that??

    --------------------

    what sec, i found one located in arizona...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meteor_Crater

    800px-Meteorcrater.jpg

    perhaps?? this one might make the most sense since it's out in the middle of nowhere, and can be seen from space... the big empty surrounded by big empty desert...

    ---------

    or maybe it was a man-made bomb-testing site converted into a research and development center... maybe i should shut up and wait for the damn thing to come out on tuesday and find out then...

  11. there's graffiti everywhere in the mojave... there's even DLC graffiti sprinkled around the car wreckage... and i thought i recall hearing that the caravans were stuck at the outpost due to the dangers in the mojave, AND the dangers heading back down the road to LA, which is why that path was closed off with a gate...

    it would make more sense to clear the canyone wreckage, but i thought you guys were convinced that it was going to be the cresent canyon... isn't that what QD predicted, or did he actually predict the mojave drive-in as an entry point?! you know what, i bet the drive-in is just the starting point for that DLC... the car wreckage could still be the entry point to montana... or maybe that road that goes past the nellis air force base as well...

    has anyone scouted possible DLC entry points to determine if something has changed?? i might do that here soon after i take a shit and a shower and finish dicking around on the internet...

  12. i say the entrance to lonesome road is the mojave outpost... i recall hearing blurbs about dangerous stuff that way, plus it's a road... although, the canyon is fairly close so perhaps that is an alternate path for those not friends of the NCR :D...

    what about the canyon wreckage though?? i say it's a dead end, just like the car wreckage in the north/east corner of the map... i thought that was going to be the entrance to dead money or possibly zion once i found out it was in utah...

  13. i was gonna post something about this a few days ago but forgot about it... i watched a 20 minute demo showing off the world, mainly las venturas... i have a feeling that it's only going to be a free-roaming multiplayer map as i see no possible way of implementing the single player experience into the world itself... it's an ambitious map though, no doubt about that... it just seems like it's going to be an empty map...

    @vicey - it's the SA map recreated with the RAGE engine, so all the of the physics feel like GTAIV...

  14. finished reefer madness earlier today... it was another typical mission, but i found the reefer stuff to be at a minimal... your chasing clues to break the enormous distribution ring, but very little time is spent with reefer itself... there were some nice buds to look at though, i would of thought the stuff from back in the day would be some dirt weed, but it looked like dank ganja :D...

  15. pause the video and the power fist says "saturn" on it with a logo that looks like the planet... lol, and the space pirate looks sweet :D...

    the K9000 looks like a "gun" weapon, but i could of swore i saw a screen that showed it shooting energy beams, which leads me to believe what i was thinking all along... that it's a fully customizable machine gun-style weapon...

    morbius(sp?) must be the thinking head that went haywire and booby-trapped the place... i liked his quote, "and my uhh, bigger, more atomic versions of these things!!" all while looking at a GIGANTIC radscorpion!!

    and so let me get this straight, they not only take your brain, but they also take your skin?? how the fuck are you going to be put back together?! i wonder if there's gonna be physical differences in your character upon completion of this add-on... scar across the forehead, mutilated skin?? remember christine from dead money, remember those scars? me thinks they took her brain at some point as well...

    "SAVE US ALL!!! in the name of science!!... ...please??" :lol:...

  16. Scruffy_Futurama.jpg

    thumbs up good sir, i haven't seen scruffy's mug in ages :D...

    these do look pretty amazing dup... i can't believe this is the GTA i've been playing for 3 years now... it's amazing how much of a difference the lighting can make... and the color seems to have more contrast in it, compared the grayish tone of the original game... more color brings out these rich textures, similar to the way it brought out 1947 LA in noire...

  17. yup, i'll get it when i get home in a few minutes... not gonna play, but at least the download will be complete... plus i can also look at the trophies that come with old world blues :D...

  18. sure it might be a better game, but is it as marketable as LA noire?? noire had been talked about for many many years, max payne hasn't been talked about since that awful movie, and before that, it had been years since anyone had heard the name max payne...

    i just don't think it's as marketable as LA noire, so i think the sales will struggle a bit...
