  1. i found most of my leather killing wolves and bears out in the wild , no wonder my hours are much higher.. and i have done a TON of smithing with leather and iron... i buy up all the iron ingots from anyone selling them, plus i never leave home without a pickaxe... and i buy various other ingots and ores from anyone selling them... dupzor told me a long time ago, smithing is important ... i've invested a lot of time recently trapping grand souls into gems, and also trapping petty animals for the sake of leveling enchanting... the grand souls are saved for enchanting my own armor, weapons and bows, like my burning bow from hell , which light opponents on fire naturally... with all those quests though, you're missing all of the places i've wasted my hours on... some locations take 5 minutes, others take hours... EDIT: check your save file when loading or saving... that will tell you all the file information you need...
  2. my god i really must be slow... i'm level 32, 150 hours in, and 78 smithing ... i currently want ebony and then daedric shit...
  3. @convo before D-O... i have been cheap with my game playing the past couple of years... i rent when i really want to play and beat something, but i haven't bought a game since saints row 3... and before that?? go back to may, LA noire... sometimes there's more important things to spend money on... i made skyrim my christmas gift and looked forward to it for 2 months... and now that i have it, i really don't see anything out there right now worth playing anyways... so until then, i will skyrim it up!! then start an evil mage character and play that until another game can command my time.... and right now, i don't really see anything coming up that's worth it... EDIT: DEAR GOD!!! D-O is playing skyrim!! welcome to the other reality we all live in...
  4. wow, i've logged in a whopping 149 hours ... i think i last left off at level 32 too... whiterun is starting to lag even more, and my storage conatainers in my house are taking longer to scroll through because of a noticalbe lag when looking at the list of items, or when adding items to it... file size is near 8MB now, i am wondering how bad it's going to be when i reach 10MB... i cross-checked the file size with my fallout new vegas saves and came up with a stuning conclusion; my main new vegas file still has a 100 more hours than skyrim ... however, my evil character has played only 10 more hours than my current skyrim file... and i am just now getting ready to head to winterhold for the elder scroll and for various other quests that needs wrapping up around the area... but i have to journey to windhelm to get there, so i could potentionally end up adding another 12 or so misc. quests and a couple more main quests on top of the huge list of quests i've picked up in the past 15-20 hours of gaming... good grief, i'll never finish this game, will i ...
  5. what i saw after being poisoned and brainwashed by a daedric prince, which i now must this complete quest because i am drugged, and i want to make the experience true... i guess i chose the right time to have a trippy experienced... i was wondering why the sky looked so bad ass while i was seeing wild colors ... -------------------------- @HBH - you're a level ahead of me, and i just read alduin's wall about an hour ago ... my skill build is not that of a mage, but my next character is going to be a ruthless/cunning/evil mage... but right now my main skills are smithing (73), heavy armor (67/87 with the ring i always use), one-handed (79), lockpick (56), sneak (63), conjuration (36) and enchanting (62)... i am actually starting to get into conjuration, and my breton started out with a decent level already... i just haven't really used it outside of soul trapping... i turned my breton into a tank warrior with an above average resistance to magic/poisons/diseases... i am a warrior out there, but i do look forward to creating a hunter with my next file... you seem to be doing the character build i want to try out... EDIT: HA!! i was wondering why i would find strange types of arrows on enemies, then also find them in mjoll's inventory... she's like most of bethesda's in-game followers; annoying as fuck, and usually taking something better to use in combat... so i gave her an arrow i am looking forward to having a nice collection of, the ebony arrow... now i find one on dead enemies every now and then... all it takes is a single arrow to equip her with infinite ones... i am sure not all companions use arrows, but then again, i never use anyone else...
  6. yea, kinda makes me not want to play it anymore... ...ahh who am i kidding, i'll probably never have an xbox... i heard rumors of the 2nd one going multiplat though... the 1st one was on a very short list of xbox games i wanted to play if i ever got one... was alan wake any good?? that was suppose to be a action/horror-esque game, with probably a "secret window" like twist... resident evil always had me on the edge with their shock factor... when riding the train in resident evil 0, i remember a sequence where i had to switch characters to solve a puzzle that spanned a few cars and after activating a switch of some sort, after flipping back to the other character to proceed, an enemy jumps out of the freezer right on me!! easily one of the scariest moments for me in gaming... i screamed and woke my parents up ... but silent hill's spooky atmosphere drives me CRAZY... the feeling of not knowing what's in front you, or hearing an enemy off in the distance, not knowing which direction it was coming from... hearing the static from the radio and STILL not knowing what's coming, or quite where it's coming from... i don't dabble in this genre all that much, but silent hill literally scares the shit of me... the newer stuff i haven't played, but silent hill 1-2 were fucking scary... silent hill is also still the best video game based movie, but i did like the 1st resident evil movie... i gave up after the 3rd one though, despite milla...
  7. i wouldn't mind chipping in when i can... it's good to stay active, even if it's just stuff about GTAIV...
  8. i never got into resident evil... i've played 1, 2 and 0, but never beat them... i am not a big horror genre fan either, but if i had to choose, i would play silent hill over resident evil any day of the week... this dosn't look fun to me, but then again, it was mostly cutscenes... i barely saw any gameplay... i know a lot of people are excited about, but i am not one...
  9. yea, the fallout misc. quests got mixed in with the notes and holotapes and passwords and recipes and etc... i probably ignored a lot of them, they usually consisted of roughly the same things skyrim does; bring me this or gather that... but at least it's organized... the more and more hours i sink into skyrim, the more and more excited i get about the next fallout... i am really loving the engine build... it's oblivion on steroids, and to be honest, i haven't experienced a lot of glitches and freezes... it's been a pretty smooth experience so far... whiterun still slows down at times *cough* fire *cough* but i haven't really dealt with the typical bugs that you'd expect with a bethesda-published title... *knocks on wood*
  10. "you found the bard's college kitchen!! congratulations..." best line in skyrim yet... ------------ in other news, i also knocked out about a dozen misc. quests in the past couple of days... that list fills up quickly, but the funny thing is, while i was wrapping up those misc. quests, my main quest list grew by two ... you just can't ever win, can you...
  11. so when he's not resurrecting dragons, he's taking a nice stroll through skyrim, admiring in the breathtaking view from above??
  12. i will keep that in mind.. i don't shout that often in caves or outdoors, but i do it occasionally... it's plausible... i noticed something, and it just dawned on me... a lot of you were talking about a dog companion earlier in this thread... i've yet to run across one... not like i need one, mjoll is all the companion i need... but i only recall maybe seeing a domestic dog once or twice in the 100-some hours i've played... another stubborn fact i discovered last night, you can't soul trap a dragon... i know i have the biggest available soul gem, but they always block it... it makes sense though, i absorb the soul anyways, so there's no point i guess... but i figured a dragon soul trapped in a gem would be one hell of an enchanting tool ...
  13. i'll say it again, is alduin stalking me?? for every couple of dragons i slay, another just circles around showboating, then flies off into the distance... well, the game has upped it's difficulty... i am level 30 now, but the past few caves i've navigated have thrown leveled opponents at me, making things a little harder... or it could be that i have forgone my usual dual-wield antics with the soul trap spell in my left hand ... i am trying hard to improve my enchanting skill, and soul trapping is a big part of it... it sucks that the souls don't go in their corresponding gem though... i've clearly caught petty souls in greater soul gems, even though i have 5 available petty ones for use... what's the deal with that??
  14. i ignored this topic until today because of my feel toward the FPS genre... to touch on massacre's point, yes, the saboteur has similar traits to assassin's creed, but the rooftop escapades have a much different feel... there's stuff to destroy up there, and sometimes it proves to be the best tactical approach to the gunfight... trust me man, if' you like GTA, assassin's creed, and james bond, then why haven't you played it yet?? it's probably $10 now, easily worth $60 new... if i recall, it was a hot topic in the old forums... @psy - i know you played and loved saboteur, but you also mentioned the 1st call of duty... i actually thought the expansion pack, united offensive, was much better, and a great choice for marney as well... he could get the original, but also the expansion pack... it's the one that introduced tanks to the series, and to multiplayer ... fun fun fun times i had playing united offensive with friends... and surprisingly, you can go online and find lots of people still playing it... maybe you should check out wolfenstien, marney... it's an alternate reality of WWII, where the 3rd reich had an army of nazi zombies... the more recent adaptation sucked though, it was just a mindless shooter... but so is call of duty so... it's hard to not find a shooter in this genre... it's why the saboteur stands out in the sea of WWII-based games...
  15. yea, i still find the mammoths and giants to be worthy adversaries... i just hit the jackpot in a little cave outside of markarth!! this photo ought to prove my point... slayed a dragon out here too, plus, as you can see, i finally got a 2nd flawless sapphire (and got another too)... there's a quest that tasks you with gathering a few items and 2 flawless sapphires... i've only found one before today, many many hours ago robbing a temple... but mining today was worth the 9 to 5, i am gonna put this nice haul of gold to good use... does anyone else carry a pickaxe with them too?? it's like american express, i never leave home without it... what a sec, who the hell actually uses american express?? it's the one credit card not accepted in america ...
  16. i pretty much only use arching for the enemies i can't get to at the current juncture... as in, up above or across the room... however, they usually already know i am in the room because i come running out of the gate now... even though my sneak skill went up quite a bit, i still run into the middle of a room... i WANT to bash you with my mace and axe all day long... if i see a dragon, i try to get it's attention... i want to beat the shit out of it ... speaking of which, i mentioned this earlier, but does alduin stalk you?!? when i can't get the attention of a dragon, he tends to just fly away... i am starting to think that it's alduin, and he is just following me, or i am running into him doing his thing and he's not bothered by a dragonborn being nearby... shit's weird...
  17. dude, dual-wielding is up close... i play up close 95% of the game... i just went through this cave earlier today in the middle of the river near ivarstead... i fought an enemy that also had the unrelenting force shout... that was EPIC!!! fucking EPIC... the best boss battle thus far... and that was all fought up close and extremely loud through the surround sound... that shout is freaky/scary good when it comes from an enemy... what i love about skyrim is what i loved about fallout new vegas... the CQC is so worth it ... grab your sword and get in there, it's more satisfying than picking him off silently from 20 yards out... nothing gets the blood flowing than a good 'ol fashioned duke-it-out battle... EDIT: by the way, i always try to provide pics, but mine are usually shot from my own game ... speaking of which, it's been a few pages since i posted one, perhaps i need to take one tonight...
  18. the autosave sometimes pauses the action, usually when i enter the menu after some time... but i really haven't had an issue with what most PS3 users are complaining about... what was your weapon load-out the first time?? light or heavy armor?? keep with the sword and shield combo... although, if you are using one-handed as your main weapon choice, i suggest dual-wielding... blocking seems like a waste of time in skyrim...
  19. well, i passed the 100 hour mark... game save says 103 hours, level 28, and the file size clocks in at 6.8MB... really, the only place i notice any lag at all is whiterun, otherwise it's not been a problem... i gotta think i am near or past the infamous breaking point by now... - via imagic v2.1
  20. what is that, massacre?? a decked out my little pony?? (bOnEs)
  21. that's the benefit of having a rockin' surround sound system always on when playing video games ... i pick up everything... i was actually scared of the ambient cave sounds when i first started playing the game... the howling, wistling wind, and the sound of rocks falling and shit... made me think it was gonna be a tough cave, but then i started hearing it in most caves and got over it...
  22. i swear alduin is stalking me... --------------- wow, learned a couple of things about the ambient soundtrack too... i got a subtle warning in the current cave i am in with a strike of a deep orchestral chime, then draugr's emerged out of the surrounding tombs... i could tell something was about to happen anyways because you don't just walk into a room of typical burial coffins and not expect the zombies to rise... but when i was done and killed the main guy, i got this soothing ambient sound... i recall hearing this numerous times, but after the warning sounds earlier, i decided to check the map... location "cleared" ... that sound tells me i finished off the location... that could be handy in places without a boss...
  23. i thought long and hard about what kind of character i was going to be... and i've built him exactly how i wanted too... he's tough to hurt now, i literally haven't used a health potion or spell in quite some time... but i spent the entire first 10 levels just working on improving his main skills; heavy armor, one-handed, smithing, and restoration... but while i was playing i was improving sneak, lockpick, archery and enchanting without really trying... and yes marney, you should of been working on those quests instead of ignoring them... my misc. quest list is ridiculous, but i only have maybe 4 or 5 regular quests in my list... a couple of them have to do with guilds that i have no intentions of joining, like the thieves guild... you've probably logged many hours but you are still not far at all to be honest... and you're new to this style of game, it's hard to know what you want to do without actually playing it... i've restarted RPG's before, but with my fallout and oblivion experience, i had no problem creating the kind of character i wanted to play as in skyrim... i learned to take my time and actually wrap up loose ends before taking on new problems... games like this can be very over-bearing at times... your best offense is just to chip away at it... i turned down tons of quests in riften just because i didn't want to take on more work... you need a sense of character direction, otherwise, you just wander the land like marney ... i even create my characters moral values and principals too... a man willing to help the poor, and shun corruption... a man of the people, which is why i've turned down numerous theft quests and joining the thieves guild... and the more i hear of the politics of skyrim, the more i realize that i might be fighting for the storm-cloaks, fighting for the nords of skyrim... fighting for freedom ...
  24. take your time too... don't rush it, sit down and actually try to make the character you want... the possibilties are endless, but you don't want to be all over the place, you want to build him up the right way by working on the skills you want... once you start getting further into leveling, you can start to focus on secondary stuff... pick your character build and style now... worry about the rest after level 15...
  25. i wonder if there's an app in the apple store for that... *checks it out* nope, just guides...
