  1. I've been looking forward to this!  As you can guess, I'm very much into settlement building.  Will be interesting to see all the stuff we'll have available - after watching the trailer a few weeks ago, I have a few ideas in mind.

  2. Finally got back on GTA Online the other night - first time in months and it really showed as I was killed rather easily by some randomer!

Never really been a fan of the races, but have to admit I'm really enjoying the stunt races.  Still absolutely hopeless as usual but great fun.

    @Shabb -
Just went to Diamond City where Doctor Sun had shipments of glass,
and then settlement Bunker Hill where Dr. Kay and Doc Weathers had same.

    I'll keep an eye out.

Cheers.  I knew Doctor Sun had some but for some funny reason, he disappeared after I did the quest where you find that cut up body in the cellar.  Haven't been able to find him since.

Knew about Dr Kay - what I've done is placed a bed nearby so I can sleep & forward time so she 'restocks'.

Cheers for mentioning about Whitechapel Charlie - I completely forgot he existed!

vault-tec workshop reminds me a lot of fallout shelter... i am intrigued by it, but i am not a big workshop guy, so i am part of that group that feels a little let down with the fallout 4 DLC... nuka world will probably be cool, but it sucks that'll be it... mods will save this game, whenever the hell they get around to releasing it on PS4 <_<...

did you hear about the mod cache limits?? doesn't sound like a lot of room for having a lot of mods...

Heard about the 900mb limit which seems absolutely ridiculous.  Part of me thinks all these 'problems' they're having aren't quite as bad as they make out.....

Have to admit that I'm bitterly disappointed that Nuka World will be the last dlc - from the way they were talking a few months ago, I genuinely thought there would be plenty more.

  5. I know a lot of people have been whinging about the DLC - I think they raise a valid point in that there's not enough story DLC, but in all honesty I've been pretty happy with what we've been given.

The Vault-Tec Workshop DLC is very interesting - certainly from my settlement-building perspective anyway!  Chuffed you can build a vault at any settlement and it looks like we'll be given a good amount of 'new' materials and items.  Should make up to some extent for the mods being delayed (main reason for me being interested in the mods is for the extra items, materials etc).

Think I'll probably suspend building my 'mansion' for the timebeing until the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC comes out as these new items have given me some fresh ideas.

  6. Managed to find the vault & Pearl and complete the subsequent quest.  Handy I've now got another supplier of concrete!   Bit annoying that since they added the warehouse stuff, they didn't increase the amount of shipments of glass available (both at Mitch in Far Harbour and Kay at Bunker Hill) or at least added another vendor of it.

Still working on my 'mansion' in Sanctuary Hills - this will be very much a long term project, partly due to wanting to use mods for extra building materials/items etc once they are finally released (if ever!).  Got the main structure built and now constructing internal walls, sorting out the layout of rooms etc and gradually kitting them out.
I also have a factory attached to it at the back (which I'm pretty impressed with) and currently have two conveyors built there (will be building more) will will feed supplies directly into my mansion/living quarters.

Also built a 'summer house' (well essentially a glass-walled & roofed area around the tree) and also a greenhouse for the food production.

As for Settlements being attacked - I normally go and defend them, even though some are capable of defending themselves (mainly so I can loot the bodies for stuff to sell on).  Spectacle Island gets attacked a hell of a lot strangely enough - I tend to just leave that as due to the size of the arena I built there, the game crashes every time I try to fast travel back from there!

Also had one settlement attack 'glitch' after all the raiders had been killed - settlers, caravan guards and provisioners starting attacking each other (happened at The Slog).  Also noticed this pack Brahmin was strangely named.....

Well, no idea how you could miss that (118) because Pearl, a handy like Codsworth is hanging around when you first get to Far Harbor.

She asks you to follow her up to the massive structure up the hill, past the trappers.

Hint, take a Ghoul Shotgun.....for before entering the Vault.

The actual mission will allow campy dialog like in the Shadow crap. Dramatic voice.

For me, it was all about looting and meeting Santiago, the artist who has decorated all of my settlements.

This is where I found the first Pirate Hat with the other relics.

The second is well hidden on the Azalea.

Have to say I didn't know about that.... and I can't actually remember ever meeting Pearl!  Where about on the map is the vault located? (think I must've just 'dismissed' it as a 'nothing' event).

OK so NOW i can delete unwanted quote boxes. That was weird. ( *doesn't explain what I am talking about to people who can't see hidden posts )

So, assembly lines. I was wanting to fuck around a bit with this. But I wanted a walk-though on how they work before I start so I don't waste shit. Having 5 active characters, none of them really have a lot of supplies to spare. That is why I don't build a lot. I haven't even made a battle arena yet with the last workshop DLC.

Any of you watch a good video or did you just start fucking around? I could just search for one; but I was hoping one of you may have found a good video. There are too many cunts on youtube and I don't feel like picking through the horse shit.

I've watched a couple but they were mainly just videos generally showing how the conveyor belts work, how to hook them up etc rather than going into massive detail.  It was all I really needed to know before I properly experiment - got a few ideas in mind.

i didn't take a snap but i put some initial work into it, this is gonna be super cool!! B) i decided against making it a museum dedicated to me and my findings... instead it will just focus on the cool stuff found out there... i'm building scenes, similar to what museums do, and i'm calling it "Home Plate Museum" :)... i'll snap off a screenshot before crew night and share it so you can get an idea of what it's gonna look like...

it's gonna be awesome to see the final product, i'll have to do a video walkthrough!

I was originally intending to build some sort of castle, but it's turning out to be more like a large mansion!  Was intending on a museum-like room myself within the mansion with all my power armour and various other bits and pieces on display along with making good use of those new posters.

  9. Can't offer a great deal of help when it comes to normal point & shoot cameras as I'm very much used to DSLR (or in the case with my Sony camera, a DSLT).

Stating the obvious I know, but always do some thorough research - what features do you want, whats important/not important, what you'll be using it for (e.g taking pics at a gig, sporting event etc).

Being biased, I'd always recommend Sony: http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/cameras - I have two cameras from them, a DSLR (A330) which was my first (entry level) DSLR and a A65 (DSLT) which I always use now.  Having said that, my mobile is an Xperia Z3 compact and I personally think the camera on that is shite - although that's probably because I'm a lot more use to having better control of the pics I take with my DSLT.

Sony have a very good range of interchangeable lens cameras which aren't DSLR/DSLT although some don't fit into your price range.  This one does however: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/interchangeable-lens-cameras/ilce-5000-kit but bear in mind, you'll probably able to get it cheaper elsewhere.

Just use this website: http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/ - find a few cameras you like the look of and have a nosey on here to find the best price.

i had a hard time caring about the children of atom and their blind faith... but i wanted to keep the peace in this foreign land, and since i keep getting called mainlander, i figured it wasn't my place to swing things in one factions favor over another... plus i wanted the synths to be free, because i was a railroad guy back in boston... and i also liked the people of far harbor too...

it was a good addition to the fallout 4, here's hoping nuka world delivers more of that goodness B)...

I went the same way, although it was very tempting to blow them (Children of Atom) up!   Worth saving though as there's a good trader where I can buy more concrete for my next monster build!

Getting ideas for conveyor belts though - think I'll have a number of things being manufactured and have everything running into my 'castle' to a centralised dropping off point.

now where'd i stash preston so i can put him in a pillory...

That was my idea!  I wonder if you can set up one of those contraptions to fire stuff at him?  I want the fucker to suffer!!

  11. 19 hours ago, Ginginho said:

Anybody had a crack with the new Contraptions stuff?  looking at you Gaz....  Fireworks, music makers, manufacturing machines, paint ball guns...  logic switches and all sorts of shit I will probably never use

The only thing that excited me were the new display cases and the weapons and armour (incl power armour) display units...

Had a look through all the stuff and it got my mind racing with ideas!   Not used any of it yet as I've decided to use some of the stuff as part of a much larger (and my most ambitious yet) project.

I've decided to rebuild my Sanctuary Hills settlement now I've got better stuff to work with plus I've always used it as my 'main base' (for my character's sentimental reasons!).  I've cleared everything away and have decided to build a castle... well something based on a castle anyway!   I'm not using the whole settlement space - just the 'main' bit to the right as you enter via the wooden bridge.

Anyway, I've so far built up a perimeter wall which involved covering/blocking off/building over the old houses whilst the central area will act as a 'courtyard'.   I'm intending on building a little factory or two at the bottom near the river and may just make a conveyor which will travel upto the main 'castle' building to deposit whatever I decide to manufacture!

This will take me a while! ;)

  12. Really enjoying Far Harbor so far - quite surprised at just how many quests/side-quests they are and the good thing is I've been able to collect a good amount of weapons, armour etc so I've been able to build my caps up again by selling them on.

Got some decent legendary weapons and armour along the way but think I'll be making good use of the weapon and armour racks once the next DLC comes out.

On a side note, I really wish you could kill Preston Garvey.  Talked to him for the first time since I destroyed the institute and he had a go at me "what you did amounts to mass murder!".  Fuck off!  No-one speaks to me like that in one of my own settlements! ;)

Is anyone other than me playing Fallout 4 on PC? It's nice you guys are getting access to some mods. I'm a little curious to see how the comparability will work. There are quite a few nice ones out there as well as a companion infinite ammo and another where the power armor they wear won't break. Until then here is a link to some Fallout 4 PC pics with some mods included http://imgur.com/a/9vOO9.

I'm hoping for mods that allow you to have extra building materials, furniture etc which I know you can already get for PC.

I've seen some brilliant settlements built with them, so I'm quite hopeful I can do something similar!  I'm actually holding off building anything else until they are released - already have a few ideas in mind.

  14. This is how the first arena fight turned out.  Nothing particularly exciting - ended up getting shut of the middle wall & trying to organise the settlers was pain.  Could do with more cages and I need a new perimeter fence!!

  15. Cheers all  :)

Shabbagaz, that arena is simply incredible. Love all the names too - so funny!

Got stuck for a name for the 'Uncle Knobhead Terrace' at first then just decided to name it after one of the guys I work with! (anyone British and/or has watched Peter Kay knows where I'm coming from!)

Absolutely drained most of my caps - must've easily spent 60,000 + caps on materials, and that's including scavenging & selling stuff on as I went along.

  16. Finally finished my arena - took a hell of a lot of resources and caps but got there in the end.  Why I decided to build it on Spectacle Island I'll never know - it's bumpy terrain caused a few problems so you'll notice a number of imperfections (I would've built at Starlight Drive-in but I already had my pyramid built there which I didn't want to knock down).

Anyway, here it is - all that's left to do now is finish off assigning settlers and then battle will commence! (I'll post a vid if it's any good!).

  17. fuck you guys and your playing the hell out of far harbor stuff ...

i am actually getting ready to finally fire it up here real soon, i haven't played since friday  :(...

I haven't even downloaded it yet - still trying to finish my arena which I should hopefully get finished within the next couple of days!

  18. My arena is coming on well.  Downside is, I've had to spend a shitload of caps on materials!  Need to raise more caps - can anyone recommend the best place to loot/clearout for stuff I can sell on for a good price?

  19. I played some Fallout over the weekend and most of my time with settlements. I was trying to get happiness up past 81% at Sanctuary, and got way more into it than I expected to. They released a lot more bells and whistles than I'd noticed until I got into it. Neon letters! Fancy wall lights! Little labelling signs to put on things! So I changed a whole bunch of stuff around, basically cleaning up items built months ago that have now been outgrown, expanding living quarters, adding more vendors, moving settlers around and giving them places to hang out, shoring up defenses, upgrading my love nest and banging Macready.

Next up: Dunwich Borers in Atom Cats power armour. Any recommendations for what weapons to bring?

Best thing for me is that you can now build concrete walls etc.  Massive plus point as I have been able to start work on a terrace for my arena/stadium complete with 'crush barriers'!  (it's modelled on the old terraces we used to get at football grounds).

  20. Was trying to think of something witty, couldn't think of anything so plumped for that!

Also started work on my next building project - going to try and build an arena/stadium on Spectacle Island so this is going to take a shit load of materials!

  21. Platinumed Vice City before and with that finished I thought I would jump back on Fallout 4..... that's until I found the disc drive to be completely dead.  Can't insert any disc at all - did view a possible solution on Youtube but turned out to be a load of crap.

Can anyone point me to a video I might have missed (so long as it's not by some unhelpful gobshite) or have a suggestion on how to fix it?

Personally think it's fucked.  I was going to buy a new hard-drive for it (glad I didn't now) but part of me just thinks I'll have to buy a new PS4 anyway.

I know there's the possibility of sending it away to be fixed but I can't be bothered with that.
