  1. Glad I blew you all away it!  Took me over a month to build that and I think after that I'll be taking a long rest from Fallout!  I can't rule out building something else, but that's just going to have to wait a long while!

  2. Right here we go!  Can't post them all here so here's a selection.

This was without doubt my biggest and most ambitious build to date and being honest I don't think I'll build anything of the magnitude again!   I really did push it to it's limits which resulted in a very slow frame-rate and the game crashing occasionally.  My original plan was to build even more stuff there but had to scale it back due to the frame-rate issue and I had also pinned my hopes on the mods being released.

It's not perfect - you'll notice plenty of imperfections, I either couldn't be bothered or literally couldn't fix them.  Also apologies for the quality of the screenshots - 1.  I had to get the angle right as parts/walls etc weren't showing due to the frame rate and 2. The perils of uploading to Facebook!

Anyway, starting off with the exterior:

  3. I 'took over' three of my settlements and felt quite dirty for doing so - just didn't seem right even though the settlements were sparsely populated.  Which leads me to asking.... can you 're-take' a settlement and get shut of the raiders?  (and would doing that doctor's quest have any bearing on these settlements?).

Anyway, I've been busy at work trying to finish off Sanctuary Hills - I think I may finally get it finished this week, so be prepared for shit loads of screenshots!  I think I've pushed it to it's very limit as the frame rate is pretty poor when in workshop mode.

Managed to get my museum finished which is now equipped with Nuka World stuff.  Was also going to build a 'church' but decided to make it into a 'fun factory' with the games from Nuka World along with the Nuka World mixers.

I've built that much that Sanctuary Hills is practically unrecognisable. :)

Here's a 'sneak preview' ahead of the full unveiling later this week! ;)

how do you unlock the raider shops?? i don't see the perk in the perk tree to unlock??

@shabbagaz - yea saw the news earlier today... my post about it is up to like 30 RTs and 175 likes... there's plenty of people pissed off about the lack of mod support that they're also like me in that, what's the point of buying skyrim again if there isn't mod support??

sony is fools for abandoning this... this is the start of the future of console gaming, and sony pissed on it...

I've always blamed Bethesda for the delays as we all know what they are like, however their statement makes me think I was wrong.

  5.

    what does that mean?

i walked out with that shit, first blood.

If I found a Pack Member in it, I would ask him to remove it.

If they didn't i would kill them and then repair the suit.

    why worry?

Couldn't pick it up at first as I was already wearing power armour and so was Gage.  Will try killing him but suspect the other raiders might turn against me which isn't what I want at the moment (and you can't ask them to leave the power armour).

  6. Because I've been helping the raiders and raiding/taking over settlements, Preston Garvey soon found out which resulted in an argument and the breaking up of our "friendship" ( ).

Needless to say, I told him I'd wipe the floor with the Minutemen if they got in my way.

Yet despite all that, he still hangs around Sanctuary like a bad smell and said he'd still take orders from me?!

Really wish Bethesda would patch it so you can kill him.

Anyway, the Nuka Cola and Quantum power armours will fit in well to the Nuka Cola/Nuka World part of my museum. :)  Just a shame I can't get the power armour I found at Nuka World Power Plant - went back to collect it and found the legendary pack member had helped himself to it!!

  7. Now finished it - shorter than I thought it would be but enjoyed every minute!  As well as unlocking the quantum power armour, I found more when I was at the power plant, so all in all I'm coming away with 3 more sets of power armour!  (I found some Nuka Cola power armour too).

Had a quick gander at the Nuka Cola stuff for settlement building - think I'll be making good use of that!

Loved the Star Core quest. RobCo Battlezone event was spectacular to watch!

A great show, finally something that gave me an idea for an arena battle back in the Commonwealth...

Thinking Shabbagaztically, build a huge sport fighting arena of metal and concrete with bleachers.

Starlight Drive-In or even better, Spectacle Island. There is enough room at either.

Loved the 2 Novatrons battling, but just imagine 2 Novatrons VS. a big guy like a Sentry!  The whole event was inspiring.

I have all the robotics perks, may just go out on a limb and build it. Have the components just need to decide on location.
Would have to be a class act though, like your monumental works of art and craftsmanship. It's a goal now .

If building at Spectacle Island, just be wary of the terrain as it's quite 'hilly/bumpy' - I suggest building a flat foundation to level the area off.  Starlight Drive-In is the easier of the two to build on.

  9. I know some people find having to find the star cores tedious, but I quite liked it - blasting the shit out of everything on my way through and some decent junk along the way.  I'm still pretty early on in the DLC so still lots to do.

I don't normally bother with bits of armour - just wear my X01 MK VI power armour all the time.  Got plenty of fusion cores and all the perks to make them last longer.

Think I'll also be taking a break from Fallout after I've finished the DLC and my build at Sanctuary Hills - it's all I've played for months!  Bought AC Syndicate back in April and STILL haven't played it (partly due to needing a bigger PS4 hard drive which I still need to get sorted).

  10. Very much enjoying Nuka World so far although it saddens me that this is the last DLC.

Not got too far - just starting to clear out places although have since been side-tracked into collecting Star Cores.   Will have to have a trip back to Sanctuary to collect some ammo from my 'factory' and dump some junk.

Not going to use the overboss power armour but it'll be good enough for my museum!

There's one mod i've seen that adds a recycler and loads of other machines to the contraptions, actually makes it seem like a viable use of resources. Also I hope there's a mod that fixes the godawful vault lighting.

That's one of my bugbears as well.  I've had to add an obscene amount of lights as a result - also a pain if you've built a room twice the normal height (i.e placing a wall piece on top of another wall piece instead of another floor).

The strip lighting is a pain as they don't snap to each other so hard to line them up properly.

^that... where's our fucking mods?!?!... at this rate, i'm not holding out hope for PS4 skyrim having mod support at the time of release...

I'm convinced they're doing it on purpose *cough* half way up Microsoft's ass *cough*.

  13. Yeah, noticed the increased number of shipments, which is all good in my book!  Not as desperate for glass now but happy to see increased shipments of copper and more vendors selling it.

Really could do with finishing my latest build this week but sadly have to cut back on my original plans due to the size of my build & stuff used (frame rate issues).

  14. Oooo, and more stuff for settlement building!  No way I can include that stuff at my current build - it's big enough as it is and I'm experiencing frame rate issues.

Anyway, hope there's a good number of quests and hopefully it'll be as good as Far Harbor.

Shame about the bush in the right hand doorway, that has always bugged me about building. Shrubs should be auto removed when something is placed on top of them.

Pretty sure there's a mod where you can remove them.... but it's not looking if we'll get them anytime soon, if ever at this rate sadly!  Another thing that bugs me is it still rains inside whatever you build.

    That looks really nice. :)

Got a lot of the halls done now, soon for the center atrium.
Still struggling with the reactor power distribution. Cables or conduit? The conduit carries a learning curve L0L.
Atrium still dirt and currently filled with 40 corn, 40 mutfruit, and 40 tato...with 25 vault dwellers tending to it all.

That and a doctor, a chef, a trader, two heavy guards, and two provisioners sharing assets..

Are you planning on having a lot of vault dwellers Shab? This is pretty fun. I can see more possibilities here.

Think the max is 20 which I'm already at (bear in mind that I'm building at Sanctuary Hills).

With regards to power - use the vault power conduits.   I have a large 'utility/maintenance' room where my super reactor is and where I'm not bothered about the wires (see screenshot).  I placed 'normal' power conduits on the ceiling and vault power conduits on the walls (which themselves transmit power).  As a result, I've begun to place vault power conduits on walls in other rooms and haven't had to wire them up.

  17. One tip is, if you're intending on linking the rooms (e.g. quarters, clinic, overseer etc) with the atrium rooms/walls is to use the supports and try and place them as accurately as you can near them.  Then you can place one of the rooms (quarters, clinic etc) on top of it and then you snap things together from there.  If that makes sense!

Edit: just a simple screenshot (and an un-interesting sneak preview of my vault-mansion!) showing how I've used a support(s) and how I've managed to transition from the normal 'atrium' materials to the actual room blocks.

My character has been fucked over by the concussion/perception glitch where you lose 4 perception points after suffering a concussion but healing using a stimpack doesn't bring them back.  Not a game breaker but still annoying.

I took stock of my crafting materials last night - over 10k steel and wood and at least 1500 of every other material and that is without clearing the scrap at 90% of the workshops.  Is that enough for a decent vault, you reckon?

Possibly - just depends on what ideas you have in mind/how big you intend on building the vault etc.  Good thing is you have plenty of steel - I had scrapped everything in the caverns but still ended up using all the steel & had to buy more!   You'll probably need to stock up on more rubber - again this just depends on your intentions.  Although the vault building materials use very little, if you're building something big you can easily get through it all.

Expanding on my previous thoughts regarding giving settlers names, I think you should also be able to set their personality, hostility and/or targeting priorities, plus give them patrol routes and advanced AI (yeah advanced AI in a Fallout game.)

Also i've only just become bugged by something that hasn't bothered me since the game released - the fact that settlements have a boundary and anything outside of that cannot be scrapped for parts; "oh look there's several trees just outside of the base but just because there's some insivible, predefined green boundary here I can't use the wood from them. Guess we'll just have to go without those fences."

I had the idea that settlement borders were a bit more flexible, perhaps rather than having predefined settlements you can just choose a location somewhere in the world, plop down a marker that creates a sphere of influence which you could adjust to suit your build, expand it out to be quite large and claim more territory. Either that or have the option to scrap things outside of your settlement area.

Agree with every word - the settlement boundary in particular pisses me off the most, both in terms of not being able to scrap stuff outside the area and also the way the boundary runs.  It's been a problem at Sanctuary Hills where I'm building at the moment - I've 'encased' all the old houses but it proved problematic in one area as the boundary runs right close to the house and I've had to make a bodge job of it.

  20. My advice is take a look on Youtube for any settlement-building videos - as expected there's been vault-building videos gradually popping up on there.  Always good for ideas.

Taking a walk through existing vaults is a great idea to and can also advise to start building from the doorway - it can be an absolute pain in the arse when things don't line up!

I'm not building a vault myself just yet - more like a 'Vault Mansion'.  Decided to gradually scrap the one I was building as the vault materials are far better.

  21. Very much impressed!  Quite surprised about how massive the caverns are.  It's funny that after every settlement I build/build up I say "this will be my last one for a while" which was my intention once I've finished Sanctuary Hills, yet there's always something that draws me back to it.  No way I can let all that space go to waste!

Very pleased with all the new items and materials, so much so that I'm re-modelling/re-building my mansion at Sanctuary Hills again.  Says it all that the only thing I was disappointed with is that although you can now get an undamaged toilet, you can't get an undamaged bath.
