  1. Personally I thought the physics in IV for motorcycles and helicopters were brilliant.

But, Rockstar will definitely improve it.

Brilliant? Helicopters performed in IV the same way they did in VC, with a few tweaks. They are hard as fuck to get good at. Sure you can fly and dodge buildings left and right... I'm not talking about that. I'm really only speaking about the attack choppers. It was a challenge to hit a moving car with the turrets, One, because there was no crosshair, not even in first person view. An two, because even if there was a crosshair, keeping it steady on a target was next to impossible.

If you have played BF2/3 that is a good sense of how I would like helis to control in V. Shot in the dark but worth a wish.

I might not agree with you on the bike controls, but I do agree with your ideas on the chopper controls, I got good with them, took a lot of practice (and a lot of swearing) and I like the idea of using something similar to the BF3 controls, I found them a lot more intuitive and easier to pick up.

  2. Maybe it's bullshit. Not trying to be a downer but look at the way companies always advertise there games before release. They always talk about how it will "Innovate gaming" and how it takes things in a bold new direction but it's usually just the same old formula with a few minor changes, I'm guessing thats whats happening here. Not that there's a problem with that, I love the old formula it works brilliantly and has got them this far.

Been thinking the same thing myself, every year there is another COD released bleeting about "innovative" this and "bold" that, but its the same stuff with some bells and whistles tied on. IMHO, GTA ain't broke, so no need to fix it, just fettle it gently to make it better

  3. I stopped reading after "san andreas' motorcycle physics are more realistic than gta 4's". Then I stopped posting serious feed back after reading someone who agrees with this topic thought gta 4's helicopter physics were too realistic because the propeller would eventually break after grinding it against buildings.

Foreal I hope rockstar doesn't backtrack and make things arcade-like and unrealistic again just to please the minority who are still stuck on san andreas. Gta 4's physics were a huge improvement over previous games. I only hope they will be even better in GTA 5. Realistic driving/flying that takes skill to do well> going 100mph and successfully making a 90 degree turn.

Agree, I like the challenge of something more realistic. I personally never had much of a problem with the bike physics in IV, helicopter physics could do with a tweek tho.

  4. A bit off topic, and not sure if it's been bought up already, but how does everybody think they'll create a map edge barrier? In RDR it was mountains, in GTA it was an invisible barrier in the water. I put this here as it is kinda related to graphics.

GTA SA had infinite water (and air space) stretch out in every direction. GTA V will probably have the same.

I hope the water is only to the west and other directions have infinite dirt space.

True, but the infinite water/land thing would be fine in a plane (you'd get bored and turn around), but if I remember rightly, if you were too far out and attempted to swim back, didnt you eventually drown?

Probably, since they won't want us flying too far out since there will be planes. Or they could be awesome and make you die of 'fatigue' like if you go too far out in world of warcraft. It's more realistic than an invisible wall, imo.

Yeah, that'd work nicely! And they could put up some sort of "no fly zone" at the very edge of the map, wherein you'd be shot down. Or you coud just run out of fuel and crash

  6. If there will be option to swim under the water then they must do script that will make bullets go certain way only not going at full speed from surface to bottom. In real life bullets cant go al full speed underwater and are stopped very fast or even shatter after hitting surface but it depends of what bullet it is. If they will ignore this and bullets will not stop after few meters then all that underwater hiding will suck. In san andreas it was like that as I remember. Bullets go very deep. But there was old engine maybe with this modern one they will make it more realistic. Interesting thing is that bullets like 9mm can go to about 2,5 M and shotgun bullets like buckshoot can kill to about 2,5M but riffle rounds that go very fast they are destroyed just after hitting surface. Anyway In san andreas I tried many times to escape underwater but they was able to make damage to me even If I was very deep and it sucked. So I hope they will do it properly now.

Agree, IF there is any underwater shenanigans to be had, the bullets need to behave realistically, Mythbusters did a segment on this, and i found the link to the show notes; http://kwc.org/mythbusters/2005/07/mythbusters_bulletproof_water.html

  7. I'd also like to see the cops in V use a bit more sense, for example, if I'm bunkered down behind the apparently bulletproof sofa in my apartment and ive just shot two cops in the head as they busted through the door, I'd expect the SWAT team to either lob a flashbang grenade in before they entered or come in behind a ballistic shield. or if I'm on top of a construction crane with a sniper rifle, an ugly disposition and a triple figure kill rate, DON'T climb up the fucking ladder, use snipers to force me into cover or have SWAT guys fast rope from a chopper onto the crane!

Also, I know this is a smarter cops thread, but I'm a paramedic and I'd like to see the in game paramedics show some more sense, for example, going back to the sniper scenario, IRL there is no way paramedics would just drive into the middle of an active sniper shooting and get shot, they would be held back behind a police cordon and taken forward with a SWAT team covering them and usually behoind an amoured truck for cover, they'd also be in body armour the same as the SWAT team.

  8. I like the idea of cops using handcuffs, I remember reading a book that said cops are trained to never lose control of the "loose" cuff during an arrest as on non-rigid cuffs it can be used as a weapon, as in you could get loose with on cuff on one wrist and stick the other end thru the cops jaw, sick, twisted and very GTA, no?
