  1. [ Excerpt ] ~ "There are a range of new customisable targeting options as well".

^^^ I wonder what they mean by this?

Also I thought the article was a good read, no real new information, but still interesting.

And I think the Next-Gen game ( on current gen hardware ) part was in relation to how Rockstar managed to get all of the mechanics from their previous games to work harmoniously together in the one package. How they have crammed so many unique animations for the Characters and NPC's into it, and all the unique NPC dialogue & encounters into one game. Not to mention the new weather mechanics, and enhanced graphical subtleties.

Improved AI, improved Gunplay Mechanics, and the new Ambient Score are also helping to make gunfights better than they have ever been before. Differences in the weight and control of the Three Protagonists when on foot, and their individual special abilities help sat them apart ( as well as different appearance/ and dialogue from them when reacting to things in the world ).

I think this article went over a few of your heads. I know it was only pointing out a lot of unimpressive subtle changes ( made from previous Rockstar games ), that have gone into improving GTA V. But taken as a whole, they will make the gameplay feel much more cohesive, and just plain better than any other Rockstar game.

Then it was a very misleading title.I though that R* was going to talk about how they added so many activities and how they made the map so big.

And they did. They said they wanted to make the game as good as it could possibly be. So obviously that includes them wanting to make a very large map filled with lots of fun things to do.

  2. That's definitely grapeseed. Yankton i think is the little down directly north of the Alamo sea, North Yankton could sprawl down from the mountain maybe?.

Here's a map me and Fitty have been working on together. TreeFitty created LS and the roads, i made Blaine County and the North:

Still a lot of roads to add, but i'm looking through all the screenshots and screencap and working them out atm.

You know, I never really thought about it until seeing this map. But the rivers connecting to the Alamo Sea technically make parts of the northern areas of the map act as their own separate islands. It probably won't look like that when we're actually in the world though.

  3. i'm gonna hail a cab, have him drive me into the wilderness and then jack his car and just taunt him and see if he can somehow make it back to civilization.

I had a slightly similar idea. I'm going to find a hitchhiker, and pull up next to him like I'm going to let him in, then tease him by driving forward a bit, and seeing how long he'll keep falling for it before I either let him in, or drive off completely.

  4. Anyone else curious about how owning pets will work? The gameplay video showed Chop following Franklin on the street, and Chop also had his own blip on the radar. Do you think it's as simple as he follows you around wherever you go until you bring him back to your house? And if you go too far away from him and lose him, do you think there will be any way of getting him back, or is he gone forever? Also I wonder if we'll be able to command him to attack anyone, or if he only does it automatically when we're in danger.

  5. I hope they do put locks on some things until you reach a certain goal, but even if they don't, many of the high end items will be too expensive to have early in the game.

What I think would be cool is if you're able to see all (or at least most) of the available expensive cars/weapons/properties etc. right from the start of the game. That way even early on, you'll have the sense of "Wow, I can't wait until I have enough money to buy that." It will just make it that much more important to carefully plan out the heists, because it will be that much sweeter when we successfully pull them off and are able to receive the benefits.

In my eyes this shot really gives a good sense of how big the scale of the game will be. Just look at how small the cars look compared to the side of the mountain. Now imagine how huge that scenery is going to look from the perspective of one of those vehicles down there. This stretch of road alone has to be at least the entire width of any of the islands in GTA IV, yet this is only but a small fraction of how large the entire world will be. I think the sheer size of this game is going to blow us away.

This shot just looks amazing to me. Look at all those beach umbrellas and how small they are. I think you can even make out a person towards the bottom right of the screen. Now imagine how huge this beach is going to look from the perspective of those people, being able to see nothing but beach as far as you can look. Then a little further back you see the long bike path (which should be a relaxing change of pace from getting around on the busy streets), beach volleyball set up near that (I wonder if you can interact with people playing it or even play it yourself?), and of course the pier in the distance. These beach areas alone give a great idea of the sense of scale in the game, and personally I think this will be one of the most exciting areas to hang out in.

  8. As per usual, I'm gonna point out some shit IGN "found" in their trailer analysis.

    1. "What does his underwear say? Bodier Sachs or something? I'm sure it means balls." It's Didier Sachs, you morons. The joke's only been around for 9 years now...

    2. You couldn't kill people in Vice City's golf course because the carts didn't go fast enough...

    3. "I wonder if we can go to that observatory?"

    4. "Why is Trevor happy to see Michael?"

    5. They're still playing off the fact that famous voice actors voice the characters...

    6. Officer Pennywether...

The fact that they've apparently not noticed the fact that the Observatory has been present in both of the previous trailers as well as a handful of screenshots makes me think these guys aren't that good at analyzing things.

  9. I'm guessing when we have the swim gear on with the oxygen tank we can stay under water for a short while which is cool. I wonder what other 'equipment' can be used in such ways in the game that give us some kind of advantage

Well, I assume skydiving won't have a very happy ending without having a parachute on you.
