  1. I finished it yesterday...

Another lead protagonist bites the dust, eh? Phelps was a douche, though. I preferred Kelso. Actually, every time I heard Kelso's name mentioned in the game, I kept expecting Ashton Kutcher's smug face to appear.

Also, homicide dragged on for far too long, and the bartender's motives weren't revealed. It sucked having to put away all those dudes when you could tell the killer was still on the loose after a couple of cases. Really, the story didn't kick off until you got to vice. A waste of time, imo.

Overall, the game was good, not great. I think the open world should be scrapped if there is a sequel.

  2. Sexy!

I take it you've never bothered to listen to Domination? Brilliant album. Those audio samples sound pretty awful, though. Hopefully they just forgot to provide samples of all the groove.

    Yeah, I love Domination.

Album of 2011: Primordial - Redemption at the Puritan's Hand. Don't bother buying any other music this year, we already have a winner.

Can I still buy Megadeth's new album? Someone has to feed Dave's kids. :(

Hate Eternal's latest is my favourite so far, but I haven't heard many new releases this year.

  3. The only glitch I've had so far was the opening scene almost slowing to a halt. Apart from that, everything else has been fine for me.

Sometimes I wish this game had more things to do outside of sleuth-and-shoot. It's still great fun, though.

  4. if only someone pulled their thumb out of their ass and allowed content to be run from a hard drive. Then you could install the main files to the hdd and have one disk in the drive. Although, seeing as I only have a 20gb hard drive, I'd kinda be fucked.

Game Of The Year Oblivion and Fallout 3 both allowed you to install the expansion packs on to the 360 hdd, and you didn't have to put the discs in again. Everyone else is just lazy, it would seem.

To answer the main question, yes, I think the next GTA will have multiple discs.

  5. ^I'm actually excited about a Dev Townsend release for once.

Enslaved have a new free EP out, "The Sleeping Gods", and it was completely funded by Scion. Car companies funding viking metal? What next? KFC "presents" Anaal Nathrakh?

But yeah, check it out. It's awesome as usual.

  6. Apparently, the drums are a bit crisper in the the Sound Of Perseverance remaster. I'm yet to hear it.

I only heard bits and pieces of that Morbid Angel album preview. On further reflection, it's fucking shit. Trey must have had a lobotomy at some point in the 90's. I can only hope they chose to preview all the shit parts.

  7. ^ \m/

Speaking of Death, I can't wait for the remixed "Human" to come out. Finally, you'll be able to properly hear DiGiorgio's bass. Also, there was the remastered "Sound Of Perseverance" that came out not long ago, but the original version is fucking awesome, so it didn't really need remastering.

Preview of new Morbid Angel album

    Doesn't sound bad.

  8. I forgot to mention that K.K Downing has left Judas Priest. Which isn't as earth-shattering as Loomis leaving Nevermore, purely because K.K is about 60, and the old coot's going to die soon enough. Plus, from what i've read about JP, Tipton used to play K.K's parts when he left the stage in a huff back in the day.

  9. HUGE FUCKING NEWS EDIT!!!!

    for me, at least.

    Source: http://www.metal-rules.com/metalnews...-van-williams/

Nevermore guitar player Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams have announced their departure from the group. The two have released a joint statement:

“In a mutual decision Jeff Loomis and Van Williams have decided to leave Nevermore. The time has come to pursue our own paths from the group. Due to internal struggles and ongoing issues within the band, we feel it is our time to move on. We would like to thank all of our fans around the world for their years of love, support and enthusiasm. This was not an easy decision but a very necessary one at this point, may we all meet again someday, somewhere in time.”

Loomis and Williams had been with Nevermore since the band’s first album, 1995′s self titled, Nevermore.

NEVERMORE recently announced that they would be cancelling their planned tour with Symphony X. No information regarding additional confirmed tour dates is known at this time.

Fucking hell! I just bought tickets for their show here a few weeks back. That's it for them, surely? No Loomis???

Anyone a big enough fan of "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?" to uh, buy this?

MEGADETH - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? Remastered/Expanded For 25th Anniversary 2CD, Digital, 5Disc/3LP Box Set

    Rarities

Posted on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 11:22:18 EST

MEGADETH's vital, Platinum-certified album, Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?, has been digitally remastered for the first time and expanded for a commemorative 25th Anniversary release in multiple configurations on July 12th by Capitol/EMI.

All of the versions, including a 2CD lift-top box, digital album, and a deluxe 5Disc+3LP box set, include a previously unreleased 1987 concert from the band’s first world tour and new liner notes written by Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine and METALLICA's Lars Ulrich.

The deluxe box set also includes previously unreleased and rare mixes of the album’s tracks and hi res audio for the remastered album and concert, as well as an expanded 20-page book, plus 8”x10” photos and reproductions of vintage Megadeth memorabilia. The cover of the box uses a new, unique process of lenticular 3D which reinterprets the original cover, creating the illusion of Megadeth’s Vic Rattlehead character jumping out of the art.

Released in 1986, Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? was Megadeth’s second album and the band’s first Capitol/EMI release. The acclaimed album thrust Megadeth into the international spotlight, and it remains a powerful thrash metal staple.

In his liner notes for the new edition, Dave Mustaine reflects on writing the album’s title track: “I had written other lyrics by now, but there was something different about ‘Peace Sells’ because it told my story about my faith; my beliefs; my distrust of government; my work ethic; my integrity. This was MY song.”

“If there’s a new way, I’ll be the first in line”

“Amen!,” continues Mustaine. “I was so tired of not shaving, not bathing, not eating, not having a home, a companion, NOTHING. Yeah, I’ll be the first in line, but it had better work this time. Well, it was working, thank God, just fast enough for what I needed, but not nearly as fast as I would hope.”

"Whether you heard this record for the first time in 1986, or you hear this record for the first time today or tomorrow, Peace Sells is a great heavy metal album," writes Lars Ulrich in his liner notes for the new edition. "Nothing more, nothing less. It has stood the test of time. And will continue to do so."

Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? tracklistings:

$111, apparently. I'll probably get it. And yes, this reissue is just increasing the volume of the original album, not another abomination like the 2004 remasters, thankfully. If only the same could be done for "Rust In Peace".

  10. ^.....hahaha

Anyway, I voted for Johnny. Niko was a bitch, and Luis, although cool, didn't feel like a character that had much story left in him. And he was too much of a big fruit to me.

As for the Islamic protagonist, how about R* kill two birds with one stone and make the main character an Islamic activist from the Xinjang province (correction: autonomous region) in China, who's on the run from Chinese authorities? With heavy Chinese accent, and strong faith, it couldn't possible fail.

"I come to America to spread the word of Arrah, and now da authorities are arfter me ohohawhawhaw *sobs*"

  11. i've read a couple previews in the past few days about this game... while i am quite impressed with what i have read, really impressed to be honest, and the pictures i have seen are amazing, but i am still not sure if i really want to play this... i am just not sure if this is the world i want to be a part of... now, there might not be much else in the way of new releases when this comes out so, that could factor into the decision... but lets just say it's not high on my list...

    Waaaaaaaah?

It's like fallout, but with swords! Why on earth wouldn't you want to play that?

Personally, if there isn't at least one reference to rimming in this game, I'll be disappointed.

  12. ^yay!

I have no regrets about getting F:NV when it was first released, despite some of the glitches. I was originally going to wait for the GOTY edition, but F:NV was a reasonable price for a new release here ($78, lol), so I threw caution to the wind and bought it straight away. Good times followed.

Besides, waiting that long for fallout is a bit like waiting a year for a turn on the new town bike. It's a bit cheaper. a bit bigger, diseased, and covered in patches, and you just end up wishing you'd had a turn before everyone else did.

    Anyway, fallout is awesome etc.

  13. Analogue: The Epigenesis is fantastic, I highly recommend everyone buy it. Not quite as good as Djinn, but still really good. Sacred Geometry is a great song, but I can't find a youtube video.

Got it. I'm $25 poorer, but I've got it. Tis awesome, although I'd only heard a few songs from them before, so I can't really compare it to their other albums.

In awesome news, Jeff Hanneman is still out of Slayer, and Pat O'Brien will be filling in for him at some upcoming shows in the US. Now if Kerry King would just fall ill for a while...

  14. Well the new Blind Guardian was pretty good. Mabye a little generic. The only song I listened to over and over was the following

Yeah, "At The Edge Of Time" was enjoyable, but it could have been better. Why they only used the real orchestra on the first and last songs was a strange decision. Money restraints, maybe? Couldn't be time issues when they had 4 years to make the album.

Iced Earth is turning into an Anthrax-style parody band. What next? Schaffer starting a "super" group with members of some shitty emo-pop band? Seriously though, i only kind of like 2 albums IE have released (Night Of The Stormrider, and Horror Show, if you're wondering), and even then, there's only so much galloping guitar riffs one can take.

Hahaha, those are some interesting picks for your preference. If you haven't I highly recommend Burnt Offerings as I find it's there best. Something Wicked is a great one too. But yes, both Iced Earth and power metal as a whole are dead. Those still making it are jokes. I miss the 80's (not that I was alive) for when it was so powerful.. Maiden.. Helstar.. Pantera's glam/power days.. So many greats. What next? I don't even want to know.

So, only 24 days until I see the Big 4's only U.S. date. I'm starting to get metal ants in my pants.

Yeah, I didn't mind Burnt Offerings. Something Wicked had its moments also.

  15. lol, Schaffer's a knob.

I said it a while back on the old forum, and i'll say it again. Power metal is going to shit lately. The bands that garner the most attention in the genre these days are peddlers of pomp (Avantasia especially), or are going through the motions releasing mediocre at best material (the last 2 Gamma Ray albums spring to mind. zzzz.... oh, and Iced Earth, naturally). No real innovations are being made, and considering power metal probably is the metal genre that can take on the most outside influences without offending metal purists, that's a bloody outrage, that is.

Having said that, because of this issue, i've been turned off power metal of late. If someone would like to suggest some decent & recent power metal releases that might turn me on as such, i will gladly listen to them, with tissues in hand.
