  1. Games' map will be all blacked out until you drive/fly/float through the blacked out parts...

i'm almost sure i remember an interview with one of the R* ppl, that the typical map will still be included. i went lookin just now....i dunno where the fuck it was tho.

i expect it will be the normal fold out map poster then include with all the gta games since gta 3.

however i belive what dupz0r is refering to is the ingame map won't be visable right away in the same idea as gta sa map was faded on san fierro and las venturas until you had been to that general area.

  2. The Cops sound like they're a lot tougher than they were in GTA lV.

And this makes me wonder, is this a good thing or a bad thing? ( gameplay wise )

i was playing iv yesterday so it might be a bad thing.

Them being a challenge sounds good in theory. For instance having to make a plan for how you're going to deal with them ( tactics & strategy ). Like having better weapons and equipment before engaging with them, and having a getaway route, or a good defensive position to fall back to.

But it could get annoying if you're just screwing around ( fighting NPC's or simulating a "Demolition Derby" in heavy traffic ), and are then put down efficiently by the coppers in under a minute on just a 2-3 Star Wanted Level...

i doubt they have changed it that much, from reading the preview they mentioned they hang back more in this, the biggest thing this will do is make aiming for them harder to do, which make battles last longer and give them more chance to kill you instead.

in the mind set of making small changes like that, i expect they will be more competant on dealing with a speeding car aswell this time around, it could be very good.

part of a trail mentions 2 ways of doing a heist job, slow and clever/smart or fast and dumb, sounds to me like abit more input is placed on certain missions instead of the "do this, do that" layout gta has had in the past. if that is the case then how you go about the mission may include dealing with cops in a different way in one mission and another in a different mission.

one thing i liked about gta sa was every now and then you would see a cop car chasing someone else, i thought that was a nice touch

  3. im not that suprised they have difrent radio stations and not the same ones

hey new game new city new radio stations right the old ones would have never lasted any way exsept for mabey k roase.

i had k-rose on all the time in sa.

but as you said, it a total re design of los santos, in a different universe to the SA game, so it makes sence that the radios will be different

  4. if what i've been reading and looking at has any truth to it there is likely to be:

a total of 3 airstrips, 2 in BC, one most likely can be bought or taken over in a mission, the 3rd being the international airport in the south west of los santos

there may be an extra one but given what rockstar has shown us i think that its unlikely to be true

I wasn't counting the LS airport as an air strip.

what about the military base If they have one?

i was only thinking of the cililian airstrips, i would expect a military base is indeed in the game, not sure how else we can have the cargobob, hyrda, titan, and the other military jet in the game/where to get them from.

unless there is an aircraft carrier off the east coast of the island lol

  5. very good point there tbh

well maybe this time will be different, given the sub (which i expect is a mission only thing) maybe i'll have alook about now and then.

i can't work out if the is a sunken ship or a building thats under water (i'e. fallen into the sea from a old pier or from a worn cliffside)

there are sunken ships and a 12 story building that's under water as well. I was looking closer and that pic with the sub it looks like it could be a oil rig maybe. But besides that there will be treasure that u can find as we'll as other npc's will be searching for too.

just been having a close look at it because it was bothering me, that pic is a container ship thats laying on its side, you can see the containers it was holding just under the sub.

i presume this is part of a mission and one of the containers has something you need to get, or atleast something along them lines

And don't forget, it was mentioned that there would be other useful things besides monetary rewards

with the mentioning of owning car, and if you leave them or destroy them you can pay a fee to get them back i would assume cars, planes, helis, boats, clothes etc could all be used aswell, that could be interesting

  8. it's already been said that the total size of the map won't just be land mass. The ocean is included since we can actually go underwater. So the map will be plenty big but not the size of just cause 2

i never played just cause 2 but we could go under water in san andreas, i never did unless part of a mission so i see no reason this won't end the same way, resuilt being i don't include the underwater parts of them game in map size, same way i don't include interiors as part of map size either.

i get much more fun from flying planes, helicopters and driving cars and truck than i do swimming in these types of games.

  9. As the map is going to be as big as it is, I really hope that there's gonna be a quick save menu option. It would be useful to use in the early stages, when you can only play as 1 protag. I don't really fancy driving out to Blaine county, as Michael for a mission, then have to drive all the way back to LS, just to save the game.

thats why we can buy property, like in gta sa anywhere we buy you could save the game there.

ok granted to begin with its going to suck but i doubt the missions will be all over the place, i'd expect them to start off fairly local and branch out, most likely starting in los santos and slowly moving over more of the map as the missions go on, just like it has in every gta game i've played (gta 3 onwards)

  10. Just noticed this and not sure if it's old news or not but there are two different dams? You can see the one on the right in the screencap but it looks a lot different than the Land Act Dam we seen in the gameplay trailer and screenshot..

    trailer-4-the-great-city-of-los-santos.jpg

Nah man haha I also thought this. But no, those two are the same dams.

Or at least thats what I heard! But I kinda hope now thats theres two.. the more structures the better!

That same dam is in the gameplay trailer when the Private Jet flies over it. You mean you're telling me Rockstar changed the complete layout of that dam that close to launch? No they didn't. There's definitely 2 dams.

from what i can find la only has 1 dam

the pic i left is likely based on this real life dam as the one in la is called Mulholland Dam and is located in hollywood, it has hollywood Reservoir behind it (also known as lake hollywood)

Los Angeles County has at least 116 dams.

but how many of them are like the dams we see in the screen shots ;)

  12. i'm new around here and not posted anywere befroe, nor have i read this whole thread but here are what i'd like to see anyway.

dlc, none of this different story line crap, i want additions to the map, small changes or another island maybe.

decent time line, i love the idea of gta being more transversed with reality, i.e. 1 hour, is 1 hour, if it dark in LA it should be dark in LS and so on.

dynamic map, by this i mean if i take out a streetlight with my car or have a massive shoot out with a gang i don't want to be walking away for a block, only to come back to find averything is back to normal, i want to see cops sorting it out and worker fixing the lights and removing the cars i trashed just 30 seconds ago.
