GTA V Breaks Sales Records

Hope you all are enjoying Grand Theft Auto V. We didn't want to bother your precious play time but it's been a week so the news shall continue.
We knew GTA V would shatter records and the numbers did not disappoint. Grand Theft Auto V brought in over $800 million in sales during its first day. That's well around 13 million copies of the game. The very first day. Need we remind you that it only cost around $270 million to create and market the game? Grand Theft Auto IV sold around 3.6 million copies in its first day and needed a year to sell 13 million.
Millions of eager fans stood on line for midnight releases. There were a few fights, some muggings, and at least one instance of police impersonation as attempts to get the game a little earlier than others.
If the first day wasn't enough, Grand Theft Auto V went on to break $1 billion in three days. That's billion with a B. Incredible sales for an incredible game.
We would tend to agree. Japan and Brazil have not gotten the game (officially) yet so a boost in the official first day sales will be made soon. Be sure to join the discussions in the forums. Ask questions and give help!

"All of us at Take-Two are thrilled with the initial response to Grand Theft Auto V. Once again, the team at Rockstar Games have outdone themselves, setting the entertainment industry's new standard for creativity, innovation and excellence. Beginning at midnight on Monday, consumers around the world gathered in anticipation to be among the first to experience the evolution of this remarkable series. In North America alone, more than 8,300 stores opened their doors at midnight to welcome fans whose loyalty and enthusiasm were rewarded with what The New York Times called ‘the most immersive spectacle in interactive entertainment’. We are incredibly proud of Rockstar Games’ creative achievement and could not be more pleased with the success of this launch." - Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two

"We believe this marks the fastest that any entertainment property, including video games and feature films, has reached this significant milestone."
