  1. I don't know if you guys heard (doubt you had fucking media) Mitt Romney is coming under investigation for two felonies. One is he handed out sub sandwiches in MN, which by Minnesota state law is a Felony (to hand out goods on voting day, basically considered bribing). Also it is believed him and his son Tagg were involved in a huge ponzi scheme. In June when he is tried his ability to run for GOP will end, leaving Ron Paul a big opening for president.

No, he's not being investigated, and even if he were, the Republican Party wouldn't give up on him (investigations take a long time), and even if they did, Ron Paul would lose handily to Obama for becoming the nominee that late in the game.

  2. Thanks for the links! Little hesitant about some of the sources (Kotaku and the like suck dick) but informative overall. Any idea if any of the kits have made it into "grey" hands yet?

I'm not sure what you mean by "grey" hands but from my understanding development kits have only been sent out to first party studios and the big third party ones like Ubisoft, EA, Activision, etc.

And don't be hesitant about Kotaku. Ignore their "inside sources" for a second. Two pieces of information all but confirm the Orbis. For one thing, the site for developers of Sony products has a link at: http://orbis.scedev.net/ (Replace "orbis" with "vita," "ps3," or "ngp" (codename for the Vita) and it works; "ps4" does not).

Secondly, Coque Design, a firm that draws concept art for various companies, had this on their website but subsequently took it down after Kotaku reported on it:

  3. I also liked IV a lot, the story was deep and engaging But the only thing people seem to remember from IV is that there was nothing to do, which is a shame.

I think the acclaim arose from the overwhelming verisimilitude of the city, which at that time was unprecedented. Although our standards have gone up since then (Red Dead Redemption goes way beyond what GTA IV offered), it's still impressive.

It's hard for me at least to go back to San Andreas. The look is so dated.

  4. for all we know it couldn't possibly be comin out on the next consoles unless it releases in late 2013/early 2014+

You should really not say things that hasn't been proven to be true. I believe GTAV will be coming to PS3 and XBOX360 as well but anything is possible, besides, if GTAV releases on the Wii U (don't start that argument again) before late 2013 you'd be wrong. So chill out. Mmmmkay?

Going by recent development kit releases and then consumer releases he's right about that schedule, Kits for the Wii U went out a while back, The next xbox's kits haven't been sent out yet (I think), and I haven't heard anything of a PS4.

Me buying it depends on 3 things

    A. Is it a shit port

    B. How similar is it to GTA IV

and If its a combination of A+B then factor C comes into play.

    C. Is it cheap in steam sales

Both development kits have already been sent out earlier this year. I think the PS4 (Orbis) ones hit earlier, like around January while the Xbox (Durango) ones were around March after Microsoft showcased the hardware in London.

I would love to be proven wrong, but I'm pretty sure neither of those dev kits have been released yet

    Both have.

Studios are already reporting that it is costing twice as much to develop for the Durango than for the 360 (under the condition of anonymity of course).

A guy working for Crytek absentmindedly revealed that a summit for the Durango was taking place in London.

Kotaku revealed the Orbis, and along with it revealed that development kits had been sent out earlier that year (which was why developers at GDC were already talking about the system). In January Naughty Dog asked for someone capable of making character models with one million polygons, something that far exceeds the power of either the PS3 or 360.

It will take at the very least two years to develop a game for the new consoles, and at some point target PC hardware isn't going to cut it. There are dozens of studios hiring for the development of next gen console games. In interviews, developers no longer dance around the question of next gen consoles from Sony or Microsoft. Analysts are unanimous in their prediction that the consoles will likely arrive late next year or late 2014 at the very latest.

You don't wait that long to send out development kits. Neither Sony or Microsoft (especially Sony) can afford to make any mistakes. Quality games must be ready at launch. Getting development kits out there as early as possible is imperative for this.

  6. It's also good to note that Bioshock: Infinite will almost certainly contain a multiplayer element, and this was likely a decision recently made.

    http://kotaku.com/5909018/new-job-listing-has-us-wondering-if-bioshock-infinite-is-getting-multiplayer

So maybe this contributed to the delay. Although the two ideas are not mutually exclusive.

  7. Also, as it says in Rule #1 above the Comment Box: “Anyone posting links to or discussing supposed ‘leaks’ about our games here on our own site will have their commenting privileges suspended indefinitely.” If we see you linking to anything like that, we will be removing your comment privileges.

How strangely... totalitarian. I thought there was no possibility of a leak?

  8. Who was?

Marcus, he was saying master of the English language in a sarcastic way because the person put Max

    "Gayne"

either way that person on twitter is a QD

so it is a double sarcasm?

because "master of the english language" is implying that the other guy put a typo.

hence being sarcastic about the typo and not the obvious typo which the guy purposely put.

because he meant max gayne as in max payne = gay.

He's talking about the rhetoric. That "Payne" rhymes with "Gayne" (thus implying "gay") requires a command of the English language, but not a masterful one. Hence the hyperbole.

  9. I thought it might be fun to devise my own GTA soundtrack during the news drought. I personally found IV's to be lacking, so here's hoping for something better. I tried to avoid just picking my favorite songs, and instead choosing songs that would fit the mood of driving around Los Santos (Surfin' USA when by the ocean, Gin and Juice when in the ghetto). Nonetheless, my preferences shine through, and the soundtrack has a certain myopic quality, so it'd be interesting to see what other people come up with. Also, I decided to choose ten songs for each radio station. This benefited some stations and hurt others as I struggled to both cut songs from some stations and find songs for others. I don't recommend this as a rule to anyone who wishes to participate; I just like a superfluous and superficial formality to these inconsequential exercises. Probably OCD or something.

  10. I want to use the AXE or CHAINSAW if theres woods. Lol ill go straight to some ones camp and chop them up.

I think you need to go play some saints row, this is gta not a fucking chain saw massacre

    >San Andreas

yes I know that was back in SA, but hell we are already moving on to serious stuff aren't we?

The tone should be serious (well, satirical) but chainsaws do exist in the real world, you know. Saints Row lives off of things that don't or even couldn't exist, like "apocalypse gloves," airstrikes, giant purple dildos, etc.

  11. Cept that's what they've been doing for the past 11 years

Bills have been getting passed. There's too much bipartisanship.

You know, this is such a monumentally incorrect statement that I have to wonder where you get your information.

Which part? Bills getting passed, or the bit about bipartisanship?

Both. The 2010-2012 Congress hasn't passed a single jobs bill. Not one, despite Obama offering multiple ones. Considering employment is the most pressing issue in America today (not to mention the very definition of a "bad economy") you would think this would be a priority. But nope, Congress is too busy with reminding the world how inanely stupid we are by focusing all of its attention on contraception and reinstating "In God We Trust" as our national motto when no one, and I mean literally no one, suggested it should be anything different.

Not to mention that it regularly holds the American and/or world economy hostage by threatening not to extend the payroll tax cut or low interest rates for student loans, and at one time even considered defaulting, you know, the very thing a large national debt threatens to do, which conservatives are supposedly so very concerned about. All of this to protect tax cuts on millionaires (also eroding the national debt). Over half of all Congressman are millionaires and virtually all campaign donations come from millionaires. The former two statements are not unrelated.

Bills are not being passed. There is little bipartisanship because of the "ideological purity" that now infests the Republican Party. Compromising is seen as a sign of weakness despite numerous (and what I would call excessive) concessions from Democrats.

Good thing they're fucked come 2012. With social conservatism becoming increasingly unpopular in the US, I doubt the Republican Party will be able to last. Their main appeal these past few years has been to act as a hub to fringe groups, the bigoted theocrats being the most important wing. And their influence is undeniably waning.

  12. They should have a cap on how much money a political candidate can spend on campaigning.

Our already deeply corrupt political system was made even more corrupt by the Citizens United ruling, which allowed unlimited campaign donations, which made way for SuperPACs.

We have the worst Supreme Court that we've ever had. Scalia is a bonafide idiot.

  13. I hope the tone is similar to that of Red Dead Redemption. It was largely humorous throughout (and no doubt GTA V will up the satire) but had its poignant and introspective moments, like Dutch van der Linde's last scene. Having said that, I hope this GTA manages to conjure something more evocative with its main story; the the death of either Roman or Kate didn't feel at all shocking or devastating, just shallow.

It's a tough balance. Dan Houser seems to be too caught up in his wit to bring something emotional to the table.

  14. Forgive my ignorance, but my american politics is terrible. Who is Ron Paul, and why should I care?

(btw, I have a genuine interest on the matter but wikipedia and the media are bad sources of knowledge on the matter)

Ron Paul is our most iconic libertarian. Libertarianism means a lot of different things but in America it generally means you're socially liberal and fiscally conservative (also keep in mind that America's political center is very much to the right of every other industrialized country).

He's most certainly not the last hope for America. His take on fiscal and monetary policy would be disastrous to the economy. Having said that, I do respect that he's one of the few politicians that speaks out against corporate welfare, our imperialistic foreign policy, and our frequent breaches of civil rights (like the newly signed indefinite detention law).

  15. I have gotten some family members of mine to vote for him. He's the only real man who deserves to run this country. Raises the most in donations, most internet followers, and supported by most of the troops. Although the media blacks him out, it's clear he's at the top. Romney had his time but Paul is closing in

No, Romney clearly has the nomination. Paul isn't even remotely closing in.

  16. I have been a Ron Paul supporter since 2007. The way it seems to be here is that most sheeple over 35 or so in general just believe and do whatever the propaganda box tells them to. But most Americans under 35 are starting to wake up, that is what I'm optimistic about. Even just a few years ago, at the bottom of our Keynesian mess I would talk to people and they would be utterly clueless, That is not the case anymore, America is finally starting to wake up. We have a lot of corruption to take on and a lot of propaganda zombies yet to wake up but "we the people" will take this country back from these terrorist, war mongering, Keynesian politicians. I just hope it won't be too late.

And yes, in many ways we are just a puppet of Israel. Zionism must be recognized for the evil it is.

It seems as though many on this forum are from the UK. I have been listening to a hip hop artist from London for a few years now that is right on point with a lot of this stuff, he goes by the name of LowKey. He's probably more well known over there, but over here it seems as though I am one of the few to discover him.

Now that the nutcase Santorum has dropped out it seems Ron Paul is gaining many of those delegates. I guess there was a brokered convention in 1920 in which a candidate went in with 6% of the delegates and came out the nominee, and went on to win the election. It really seems as though it is rigged though, so not getting my hopes too high. Honestly I can't even find a Romney supporter in Minneapolis, MN. We are told they exist but I don't think anyone has actually seen one in the wild.

lol it wasn't even remotely Keynesian policies that led us into our current economic mess. That would be the repeal of the Glass-Steagall act, which regulated risky speculation in order to prevent bubbles.

Ron Paul ascribes to the Austrian School of Economics, which has been spectacularly wrong with its predictions. On the other hand, Keynesian economics has been consistently right.

This can mostly be seen with monetary policy. Large increases in the monetary base has NOT caused soaring inflation and interest rates as the Austrians predicted (and Paul has consistently warned about this, despite inflation and interest rates being at historic lows). On the other hand, the liquidity trap, a phenomenon described in Keynesian economics, explains this perfectly (it also explains Japan's Lost Decade).

At this point, because we are in a liquidity trap (meaning monetary policy has no effect on anything, which is how we've solved literally every recession), only substantial fiscal stimulus will cure it. This worked with the Great Depression - see World War II. Otherwise our economy will remain stagnant for another 7-10 years, and in accordance with Okun's law, unemployment therewith.

I like Ron Paul because he's one of the few politicians that speak out against our interventionist policies and breaches of civil rights, but regarding fiscal and monetary policy, he's a blind ideologue. Which probably explains why he's consistently wrong about it.
