I loved cycling up Mount Chiliad on my BMX, it seemed to take forever but was worth it once you got to the top. Bit of a pisser though when you didn't quite hit the ramp properly after all that effort.

Yeah, i always ended up hitting the little dirt road half way down and flipping and bouncing the rest of the way down.

My best memories from San Andreas were probably story based. I enjoyed leaving Los Santos and adventuring through the open countryside. I also liked to grab my hydra and fly straight to the area 51 base to grab the jet pack whilst trying to survive the mass of bullets in CJ's buff body.

Why the hell was the Hydra in a hangar? It was a vertical lift aircraft ffs, took me some pratice in the beginning to get it out without scratching it, first time I tried flying it was a nightmare, just felt like I had no control over it at all. Once you got the hang of it though it was brilliant.

Why didn't you just switch it to normal flying mode and taxi it out of the hangar? Easy. People used to say flying it was a bitch, I used to fly it upside down quite easily, hmm.

Hmmm, I've recently revisited it and realized just how little I actually spent exploring the 3 islands. I'm pretty sure I drove down some roads in the Vinewood area that I never did on my 2 times through it.

I'm tempted to reinstall SA yet again. But I always regret it as it crashes in a certain spot, even before i've begun modding it. Fuck knows why...

Plus the original 1.0 version of SA I had is long since gone, the new ones restrict what sort of modding you can do, no script editing. Only basic text files. :(

^that^ plus I flew the huge airplane (AT-400) upside down too. Needed to get as high as possible before trying to flip it though...

I loved searching for myths. That was my favourite part about that game.

I've decided to finally reinstall it once again, even though playing it on my dad's PC last night it was still crashing, so I don't hope for much. I can't even understand the cause of the crash which is the most annoying part.

I did, this was a new copy... my old original 1.0 version disc broke through overuse many years ago.

That's why it's pissing me off so much.

But the graphics seem so shit on there nowadays, I played both SA and Vice on my PS3 and it seemed to make it twice as worse.

Also does anyone else have a routine they go through when they start a new game? Mine is always the same; kill Ballas by bunnyhopping over them at high speeds (you can just crash into them but it knocks you off the bike, if you bunnyhop it flattens a whole group of them if you're lucky. And you stay on the bike.) And take their weapons. Kill drug dealers until you've got about $10000 (about 5-6 dealers) and buy the safehouse south of Grove Street. Then go to the gym at the beach and work out, stopping off at the hotdog stall on the way back to save your game (and get the armour pickup at the convention centre.)

That's before i've gone back to Grove Street.

Oh I forgot, I also pick up the MP5 spawn at Unity Station and increase my stat with it. And also the katana from behind a nearby fence.

All is going well at the moment, but it's the being near the building you go to in Just Business that always seems to crash the game for me, so I don't expect to get further than that mission somehow.

Lot's of good memories... Burnt my way through 2 DVD's and 1 PS2 playing this game. I reckon somewhere in the region of 1500 hours played over the years. Considered buying a PS2 and the game again just to play.

Favorites were trying to find weird Easter Eggs.

The missions were awesome and the characters within the game were just mind blowing... The Hippie guy The Truth, Macca and Paul Kent.

More than anything though, they nailed the whole atmosphere of the place. It was great.

I've just found a downgrader mod and it seems to work. Don't know why I never tried looking before.

Now I can start modding the game properly again, I remember I edited the main.scm script file so that when you bought houses a car spawned outside. And I added the Triads and Mafia gangs to Las Venturas, they would have massive shootouts outside the casinos. Plus I gave the GSF better weapons as you progressed through the missions.

Nothing silly to make the game too easy, just logical things that improved the game.

If you have it on the PC I can add that in to a base script file. But only if it's the original version of SA, not the 2.0 that doesn't allow modding. Also, I added gangs to a lot of other places on the map.

Alternatively if you want you can do it yourself, you'll need Barton Waterduck's San Andreas Mission Builder, there isn't much involved really.

Just successfully added my first mod back into the game, the safehouse below Grove Street now spawns a Blade in the driveway. I like to keep it realistic, the ghetto safehouses have ghetto cars. And the luxury pad in Vinewood will have about three high performance cars added out the front, plus a lot of additional extra props around the pool, if it gets that far and doesn't crash i'll post pics.
