possible hint for next instalment ?

Recommended Posts

So Im calling it x marks the spot, i have seen alot of posts relating to the next stop poster you know the one that says liberty city is over next stop and has the ripped corner that looks like france? I would also just like to state for the record that i DO NOT want the next game set in france and i DONT know why it would be however i noticed this the other day its probs nothing but coincidence and bares no relevance on the next instalment but ill put it out there all the same. When leaving francis international airport via the broker-dukes expressway just before you hit the actual expressway you will notice a billboard for the americantravelguide.net it shows a picture of europe with a large white plane that looks like a "X" (you can also see the same image by entering the web addy in the ingame internet) this x is over france its porbs nothing, but with the torn corner of the next stop poster looking a heck of a lot like the top part of france it just makes me feel like it may be more than just a coincidence. If it is a hint to the next destination in the gta universe i for one will be gutted, not because i have found it out but because i just dont see france as a good destination. Any thoughts?

Hmm, i've seen hawaii and california listend as possible locations based on that picture, but not france. But, actually, after looking at the main site it seems like a possibility. They've never done france before... but really those jokes are kind of 2003. I mean, its still possible, there are plenty of jokes to be made.. we'll see :D

I've never really noticed R* to give hints about locations of future GTA's...

There were minor things in each game. They mentioned San Andreas on the radio in Vice City, there was the pager message in GTA III where Ray mentioned Miami, and there was a flyer for Pirates in Men's Pants (Treasure Island) laying around somewhere in GTA III. It just happened that no one picked up on it until after the games came out.

They mentioned Vice City pretty often in IV, that combined with the hints from the last trilogy supports the theory that they'll do the LC/VC/SA thing again.

And the picture under the Liberty City poster has already been confirmed as the poster for the Viagra parody in the game.

The problem with all the hints in IV is that they really don't mean shit in my opinion. To me they are just pointing back at the previous games since in the GTA realm the other cities are the rest of the world. GTA III had Carcer City as the "other place" and then the following games just pointed at each other instead of Rockstar making up new places.

I really do hope its nothing I dont know how "thrilled" I would be to find out the next game is gta le frog. In my opinion the franchise needs to stay in the GTA-USA I mean lets face it we all remember how much of a nightmare driving was in the getaway and the roads in paris are not too much removed from the roads in london. And I dont know how much fun a R3 game would be where you stand around all day selling shitty little souvenirs of the Eiffel tower to tourists while trying to evade deportation

Would be interesting to see if there does end up being a link. I mean GTA IV was originally supposed to be released in 2007, with work beginning right after SA released in October 2004, and I'm expecting to see GTA V in 2012. I'd be surprised if they had already started planning GTA V so far in advance. The time gap between III, VC and SA was much shorter so they could easily have had a basic plan down for that series.

Would be kinda shit if it was set in France. There's nothing there except wine, bread, windfarms, striped jumpers and silly hats.

I think though, if we get any subtle hints, we'll find them in L.A. Noire.

I don't think anyone should look into the hints in GTAIV as there's no way Rockstar would have been thinking where to go next. The Ballad of Gay Tony 'Next Stop Poster' however, was probably just put there to create talk like in this thread. I reckon they're taking notice of what the fans want this time round.

@Duff I also think if we're to see any hints, it could be via L.A. Noire. I already think I've seen a location hint in there for AGENT, but that's for another thread.

I think France could be alright, it depends. Sniping from the Eiffel tower doesn't sound so bad. I would expect GTA would want to directly compete with Saints Row 3, since it is their biggest competitor... that is unless they want to pussy out and avoid Saints Row.

they don't have to compete with saints row, saints row has to compete with them... quite frankly i don't want the next GTA to be anything like saints row... let them have their gangsta simulator, we already had ours with san andreas...

i had thought that los santos would be the next location but that would be LA overkill for R*... midnight club LA and LA noire... so, now i am going to throw out there san fierro and las venturas... vegas is sort of a hot topic in games these days with dead rising 2, duke nukem forever and fallout new vegas but, that other game, "this is vegas" got canned and to be honest, there's a ton of stuff to play with when it comes to an open-world vegas...

same could be said for the pot-loving san fierro... maybe even give the game a flashback to the 60-70's era san fierro... i don't think it has to be based on the present, it just worked for liberty city... retro worked for both vice city and san andreas... as well as red dead redemption and i am pretty sure LA noire will be a success too... who's to say it wouldn't work??

and i am in agreement with GTA having to stay stateside... grand theft auto is chock full of american parody, propaganda and laws... it's embedded in the rich history of the GTA universe... it would just seem a little off to be located somewhere outside the united states...

I have always been of the opinion that the only thing saints row and GTA share is that they are both 3rd person open world games. GTA mix it up with the main protagonists background it just so happens that in S.A he was a "gangsta" same genre 2 opposite directions. I quite like saints row it is what it is, but what it isn't and will never be is GTA. Saints row, for me was a interim game between S.A and 4.

no. no. no. Competing doens't mean "being the same as" or "emulating". Competing means attempting to take the revenue that Saint's Row would get and taking it for GTA5. Giving people a clear choice between Saint's Row and GTA5, and giving them a compelling reason to choose GTA5 over Saints Row.

They've done it before. And what are they gonna do? The same three cities infinity?
