Review The Last Thing You Watched

Recommended Posts

i watched the departed a few days ago for the 3rd time overall i think... it's a brilliant film, the pacing is a little quick at times, but it's only to keep the story moving... definitely one of mark wahlberg's best roles IMO...

i saw the last stand last night, and it was more entertaining than i thought it would be... ahhhnoollddd plays an old small town sheriff that is about to have a mafia try to take over his town by the border to help escort a drug kingpin into mexico who is currently driving an extremely fast stolen car from vegas... he obviously has to make a stand, it's got it's moments :D...

Somehow I have managed to not watch The Godfather yet, but I caught it on AMC tonight. Wow....

Pros-

-The best cast ever assembled on screen

-The score is masterful and among the best in cinema

-Arguably the best job in directing and writing ever

-Plenty of plot twists and turns to keep even the most ADD kid person engaged for 3 hours

Cons-

-*cue the chirping crickets*

10/10

Arguably the best movie ever made. It is the closest a movie has ever come to flawless, and managed to surpass my mile high expectations.

Trance

A psychological journey through the eyes of a man with amnesia caused by a botched painting robbery. The structure of the story, the editing and the script make this film and interesting, and confusing mysterious inception. You'll spend half the film thinking 'what the fuck', but in a good way, wanting to know more about this person's lost memories.

Overall it was a great watch, and one i really recommend. (Otherwise i wouldn't have reviewed it). So go watch it!

9/10

*bump*

Short reviews of shit I've watched recently:

The Maiden Heist -- Walken, Morgan Freeman, and Willy H. Macy star in a comedic heist movie. I don't know how a movie with these three could possibly be sub-par, but this was. 4/10

Here Comes The Boom -- what it lacks in lolz, it makes up for in Salma Hayek. Decent popcorn movie. 7/10

Bottle Rocket -- Not only is it possible for a film starring Owen Wilson to be good, it's possible for a film he wrote to be good. A pretty good movie with bungled heists, comedy, and unlikely romance that gave me a new respect for that Aryan fuck Wilson. 9/10

No Country For Old Men (contains mild spoilers, read at your own risk)--

Finally got around to seeing this. Quality acting + Hitchcock-like suspense makes for a good movie. Plot twists and turns out the ass, and a totally unexpected ending. Prett-ay, prett-ay, prett-ay good film.

9/10

Thor 2 - dark world. Very good film, as expected lots of far fetched action sequences, and mild destruction of London, typical marvel humour throughout too which is why I love these films. 8/10

The prisoners - Hugh Jackman and The black guy from Iron Man 1 have their daughters kidnapped and this film is all about finding them, as expected, and tying up all the loose ends, some spectacular plot twists and turns, superb acting too. Not usually my sort of film, but very enjoyable. 8/10

Now You See Me - Mark Ruffalo, magic, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and a very interesting plot. Thoroughly enjoyable. 9/10

I bought "This Is The End" yesterday, expecting great things. Incredibly dissapointed, and I genuinely hate Seth Rogan now, his laugh, his mannerisms and everything else just annoys me. Such a terrible film too, stupidly far fetched, and I didn't even laugh once. 0/10

Pokemon Origins.

4 Part mini-series based on the original Red & Blue gameboy games. Basically they animated the games into a show and now you get to see the moments you remember in HD detail. Also

after finally becoming the Pokemon champion and catching all 149 pokemon, Red heads to cerulean cave and challenges Mewtwo, where he proceeds to Mega Evolve his Charizard into a black, blue flame spitting Mega beast and tames Mewtwo with his Mega Charizard.

Fucking 12/10

Wreck it Ralph: very well though out film, even though its Diane Pixar, its a very clever film, with lots of old arcade games featured, and just a nice bit of fun. 7/10.

Cars 2: Yes, another Disney Pixar, but one I've not yet seem and this hugely appeals to the inner car nerd in me, thoroughly enjoyable. 8/10.

Hunger Games CF: Second part of the 4 part series, far better than the first in my opinion, I've not read the books, so can't comment on the differences between the two, but, in my eyes, better than the first. 9/10.

The Counsellor: Terribly confusing, difficult story line to follow, but impressive cast list. Overall a dissapointment. 4/10

Happy Endings: another one that threw me, confused me, its Zooey Deschanel and Will Ferrell, so you would instantly assume it to be a comedy, but its not, its a good film, but it threw me. 7/10.

Many more, but thats enough from me.

Things to Do In Denver When You're Dead

Captivating plot, with Hitchcockian suspense and well-done acting. My main men Walken and Buscemi, along with a great blues-y soundtrack, tie this movie together. 9/10

Gravity.

I had high expectations for this movie, but honestly, it didn't meet them. While I did enjoy the movie, it was way too short in comparison to other movies. Only an hour and thirty minutes long.

My first problem was that there was little story for the movie to take place upon. What felt like five minutes in came our first and major conflict in the story. Not only that, but the entire time I felt like there was no character resolution. I didn't feel connected to any of the characters. Maybe George Clooney's, but if you watch the film you'll realize why that didn't last long. I also didn't really get the philosophical bullshit Sandra Bullock would spout off to the nonexistent Houston. Her dialogue felt way too forced. The ending also left no character resolution. I was really disappointed in the film. I do think it's worth watching, it isn't bad, and the visuals were absolutely incredible, but if you skipped the movie you aren't missing much. Clooney's character was my favorite though.

Overall 6 overpriced large popcorns out of 10.

Still haven't caught Gravity. Probably will skip it, because I haven't heard anything positive about it besides the special effects.

I just watched The Lego Movie. Good for a children's movie, but still a children's movie. Lots of pop culture references that will make you laugh slightly, and a couple of good laughs. If you have a kid, and he/she tries to talk you into seeing The Nutjob, take him to The Lego Movie instead.

5/10.

Con Air won 2 Oscars I believe.

Edit:

Actually, it was only nominated.

I can't believe so many good actors came together and decided to do Con Air. Wtf.
