I've got about 9 suits of power armour. 3 are fully tricked out. But I hardly ever use them anymore. Even though this guys a tank. He tanks hard enough without the power armour now. Kinda disappointed in that. Honestly he's at a point where all the best power armour in the game does is add a few hit points (not that many tbh) and increase his carry level which is a moot point with the forth heavy lift perk.

The point I'm trying to make I guess is the dumbed down perk system is detrimental to the game imo. With too many options you can specialise in 2 or 3 areas without much drama. My tank can sneak into almost any situation with heavy combat armour on. Coz of perks.

Rant over.

that's kinda why I am not getting my characters much past level 70. I've dont most of the quests on both of them so far. It's then time to make a new character. I'd rather do that then keep doing the repeatable missions they have. So far both my characters still kinda suck in a face to face battle. I usually have to use the syringer if a deathclaw is coming at me.

Anyways, Here are my characters and what is awesome about their builds.

First up, Reginald Fessenden.

If you give a fuck why he is named that

I have just read The Stand by Stephen King... if you don't know about it, it is about the US during and after a virus decimates the population and turns it into an apocalyptic wasteland... the survivors are led by dreams to either the "good" side or "evil" side...

The leader of the evil side is known as Randall Flagg but has a number of pseudonyms, all with the initials RF...  thought you were the Dark Man when I first saw it... your character even looks pretty close to how I imagined him...  was quite disappointed by your explanation...

Never read the book, but watched the TV series based on it (going back about 20 years or so ago - it was on BBC 1 here in the UK).  Brilliant 'mini-series' - Rob Lowe was in it if I remember correctly.

Always get reminded about it whenever I hear the song 'Don't Dream its Over' by Crowded House as that featured in it (good choice of song too!).

Power armour actually makes my guy weaker, his carry limit is lower as he's not wearing his normal pocketed armour, the explosive shotgun blast kills him outright at point blank in power armour but not in normal. Made it to level 80 just killing everything while collecting magazines. Trying to become idolised with all followers is difficult when you've done most of the quests, can't use helpful responses to get a boost.

Yeah, not Curie or any of the other goody goody ones though. Danse is easy; add a mod to an armour piece, save, reload, remove mod, save, reload etc. Etc.

My character was anti goody goody so Hancock, Cait and Macready were easy too.

I found Nick, Deacon and Piper at least like it when I pick a lock as long as it's not in diamond city or something. Like boxes and shit at raider camps/super mutant places ect.

I've found myself arming a lot of my settlers now that I know you only need to give them 1 ammo for a weapon. I feel like im playing with barbies kinda. Dressing them all up and shit. GAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

All my defense settlers and provisioners have shadowed sturdy combat armour, shadowed metal helmets, red bandanas and wraparound goggles.

I'm impressed with how urban and dense Boston feels, and the fact that their are actual urban spaces...

Today I was in the city near the ports and I turned a corner and BAM a deathclaw.

Unprepared for a fight I darted off into a mirelurk nest with two mirelurks waiting... I was able to turn a few corners and glanced back to see the deathclaw settle for easier pray (mirelurks)...

Just when I had caught my breath a hoard of blood suckers and some rad roaches started after me... And then I woke up here.

yea i love the look of downtown boston... it truly looks like downtown boston... fallout 3 kinda skipped over that by making us traverse thru the metros... there were patches of buildings, but then you were forced back into the metros to find a new location... boston's downtown feels open... like literally, i felt like i could go down just about every alley or road...

kinda cool B) never know what you might run into...

I know of three locations where deathclaws regularly spawn in the citae. One near BATDFL whatever its called, one in an alleyway near Cabot House and one just west of the Castle when leaving via the main door. The one at the castle spawns nearly every time when i'm leaving on a journey. I usually get glowing or savage ones, not that they are much stronger.

@ViceMan: There's a place with dead settlers.....siren at the top of a lighthouse type structure.

Sound the alarm, and 2 Deathclaws appear and shred everyone until you climb down and kill them.

They're there every time I go, but can't remember the name of the place.

Old Gullet Sinkhole, there is always a Deathclaw in a sewer pipe waiting for prey.

Also, still testing the effects of the Berserk syringe on lower level creatures.

They go berserk and attack each other, similar to the frenzied state of ants in Fallout 3.

Have found the message about not effective for higher level creatures. Mainly mutants, Gunners.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@gtagrl: Exploding rounds...I found the "Explosive Powerful 10mm Auto Pistol" early on.

That thing is invaluable for taking out dangerous shit when they surprise you.

I used to buy 10mm rounds at lower levels because that weapon is awesome for getting out of a sticky situation.

So unlike Fallout 3 and New Vegas, I'm not using 10mm ammo as caps, but still hording them.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Ginginho: Congratulations on finding all the Bobbleheads. I'm still doing the old school GTA package method.

Haven't looked at any guide or the Fallout Wiki, and need 4 more to go. I realize storyline probably required.....

Here are some random shots that I love from my travels........

Please to explain what power armour mods you put on ...I have nothing near as fancy looking on the 5 sets I have stockpiled so far, not all of which are complete...

And about 10mms - I generally keep an upgraded pistol of some kind (I think I have Kellogg's and did stuff to it?) and some ammo on hand, just in case you land in a real quandary and run out of everything else.

I found the Deathclaw in the sinkhole you mentioned, was flabbergasted when it started running away midway through our battle. It might've been lured by tastier prey. Made my job easier though.

Synch, I was mainly talking about deathclaws within the city. I love the tower at Lynn Woods though, pulling that lever and watching the raiders get disemboweled is pure enjoyment, plus it's a recurring thing and not a one time event.

The deathclaw in the sinkhole was probably chasing the stingwings that also spawn there Grrrrrrl.

I forget what the place is called, but I've finally found my home away from Red Rocket, in the form of a lighthouse. Specifically, the boathouse that rests in the shadow of said lighthouse. The lighthouse itself is just a sniper perch for me, and the house has been completely ignored.

Still disappointed there wasn't just a small house in the burned-out woods, somewhere.

Anyone know a settlement that has ALL the crafting tables other than Sanctuary and the Red Rocket. Both playthroughs I've went with local leader but I don't want to waste perks on those to build crafting tables next time around. Im going to use Red Rocket next for sure but after that I'd like another place I could call home.

Kingsport lighthouse. I was led to believe you could build settlements anywhere before the game was released, but of course that turned out not to be the case. I should have known better.

Dio i'm not sure of any, what about Bunker Hill? Although i've never unlocked it as a settlement.

Has anyone gotten the DLC pass yet, or heard of when new content will be released? I'm assuming settlement upgrades or new locations is a likely feature for DLC.

Sheesh, try and be more specific next time, that was such a vague answer! You're as obsessively detail oriented as I am, so I appreciate that reply.

I haven't completed the game yet either, not even once, it's funny that Vicey and Massacre and DiO and IKILLYOU and others have already worked their way through multiple playthroughs. I get too distracted by shiny things...

Well what do you expect from a lesbian engineer? Small talk to get you in the mood?

Maybe you need to be wrapped in bacon and worshiped a little.   :P

4 bobbleheads to go. When I get them all, bacon pizza for everyone in this thread.

Never want the game to end. If I go story, I usually go same as Massacre's way. We think apocalypse similar.

I mean, he's holed up in Kingsport Lighthouse sniping the Children of Atom. That's like a pastime hobby of mine.

So my next character; i'm thinking female, stealth, some melee, weak, Railroad storyline.

I've done a jack of all trades guy, clusterfuck ending for my first playthrough. An energy weapon wielding pro Institute woman second, and a complete arsehole raider cum (ha, cum) Brotherhood strong and to the point guy third... Which I quite enjoyed without the stealth.

Everyone does stealth because it's so easy, me included. So to force myself not to do it was a refreshing change, facing behemoths and sentry bots head on.
