Gameinformer GTA Online Hands On

Recommended Posts

Considering GTA IV was meant to be released in 2007 and GTA V 2012, I think R* might actually work harder and actually get a GTA game by 2016.

Still though I think GTA online is going to be transferred onto the next gen consoles so it shouldn't really be a problem.

I think they shouldn't put in Liberty City in yet, I think it would be very repetitive, even if they did add new heist missions and buildings etc. I'm kind of sick of Liberty city.

San Fierro and Las Venturas would be good add-ons, but they'd have to be as big as Los Santos with desert/countryside.

I think a revamped Liberty City could be good.

Here's a list of things Rockstar could add to Liberty City to make it more interesting in GTA Online ~

- Add some countryside to the west of Alderney ( forests/ hills/ rivers etc )

- Add new animals. Like rats, racoons and other pests into Liberty City itself, plus also some domestic animals like dogs and cats. Add bears and wolves into the new wilderness area in Alderney.

- Add new vehicles that only exist in Liberty City

- Add lots of new Banks and places which can be heisted ( there is a lot of potential here/ because of Liberty City's large urban area )

- Add new activities like Gang Wars/ Hideouts with; Jamaican Gangs, Hispanic Gangs, Triads, Latin Kings, Blood Gangs ( GTA's equivalent ). Or have the Five GTA Mafia Families have compounds that you can assault as a crew.

- Add a bunch of Liberty City Customs Shops ( with new customization options )

- Add heaps of Safehouses. There are tons of buildings in Algonquin so there could be plenty of apartment and penthouse options, and Alderney and the other boroughs could have multi-level houses and mansions.

- Add new businesses and buildings. Like marinas, 1-2 more airports in Alderney's new countryside. An 18 hole golf course in Alderney, and add a new sport, like basketball which you can play in North Algonquin and Broker/ Bohan. And an arcade filled with old-school arcade games. Plus a big Movie Theatre ( just like in Los Santos ). Etc, Etc.

- Make a new underwater environment for the River's and Ocean surrounding Liberty City. But make the water murkier, and filled with shopping trolleys, burnt out cars, rubbish, and dead bodies with concrete on their feet. And further along the coast of Alderney, maybe they could add some coral reefs and shipwrecks. Also there should be bigger sharks that enjoy the cold water ( like Great Whites or something ). And maybe a fishing mini game, or even a fishing trawler job ( going after Lobster/ Tuna further out in the ocean ).

- Add a major Sewer System underneath Liberty City that can be accessed from the Sub-way Tunnels or different hidden parts of the map. And put crazy/ violent homeless NPC's down there, and maybe a Satanic Cult ( which makes human sacrifices ). Plus put a massive Alligator or Ratman in one of the deepest parts of the Sewer as a sort of Urban Myth Easter Egg.

- Add new Clothing Stores, Tattoo parlours, Barbers ( with new options )

- Add different Martial Arts Dojos and Boxing/ Kick Boxing Gyms around the city ( so you can improve/ change your hand-to-hand combat style )

- Different Channels and shows for TV

- Plenty of good songs for Liberty City's Radio Stations

- Different Comedy & Entertainment Clubs

- Re-open the Ammunation Stores. But also have the smaller weapon-dealers that can give you some unique/ interesting weapons that Ammunation can't.

- Add Casinos and other gambling establishments ( although this would be better suited to Las Venturas )

- Introduce a Drug-Dealing Meta Game & Economy, that all players can get involved in. Drugs would be tradeable with other players via a marketplace accessible from the Dark Web on the in-game internet ( only available once you have reached "Drug Lord" Status or something ). And with Drug Deals that are made in person, you can rip-off other players and steal their product, and can intercept their drug shipments as they come into Liberty City by boat, car or plane ( and then take it back to your warehouse/ so you can store it until you're ready to sell it ).

Just having a few of these things could make Liberty City feel a lot fresher and interesting.

Also I agree with San Fierro and Las Venturas being good candidates for GTA Online. Who knows what great stuff Rockstar could put into those maps...

*PS: Sorry for so much text.

Liberty City as DLC for GTA5O?

Dr.-Who.gif

Going from the sunny LS back to the grey and depressing LC, no way man. :P

Jokes aside I would rather have Las Venturas or something fresh, they can always bring LC back when they ran out of ideas and milk the cow.

I wouldn't mind Liberty and I could even see them using the same map as well as having room for adding on new content as GtaO does take place 5 years after Gta4, definitely enough time for the gun law (Ammunation) to change and more buildings to have been built. If they did add Liberty I hope they acknowledge Gta4 just because I like how R* acknowledges their own games in that universe.

Or have the Five GTA Mafia Families have compounds that you can assault as a crew.

Love this idea, or maybe you could do dirty work for each family and gain a unique bonus. The Gambettis might provide bodyguards or the Ancelottis might offer discount cars?

@Nathan. Great idea.

@SpittyTheDude. It could be a nice change of scenery, when we eventually get sick of GTA V's map ( in 1-2 years time ). All of a sudden dark and rainy Liberty City will be the one feeling fresh.

Plus the new weather system will make LC feel more atmospheric.

But I agree, Las Venturas would be great as well...................*imagines the great heists that could be pulled in the massive casinos*...

Yeah in a year or so LC would definitely feel fresh again, and you're right, with the improvements to the engine(weather system etc.)

and new locations it would be amazing.

Las Venturas would add so much to the heist system, you could basically rob the whole city.lol

Honestly the best expansion they could do would just to have the next GTA set in San Fierro and surrounding cities, and just connect that to the north of the Los Santos map, and then move east to Las Venturas later, and then vice city or a Chicago type new city etc..., but with each new installment just add on to the total map (rockstar did say they would like to do the world one day) so by the next couple of GTA's just have one big map consisting of LS, SF, LV, VC... maybe i'm just planning too far ahead, but it would be a good way to start. and im sure that next gen/future gens can handle it.

i'd like them to do something new, something they haven't made before.

building their version of Denver or Atlanta or Chicago for example.

re makes of the old cities are get and i would love to see them remade, but it with a brand new city they could do so much more

A new city is a new game. Aside from adding whatever the city in GTA VI would end up being, the only way we'll be getting an entirely new city for GTA Online is if Rockstar does major DLC for the singleplayer game that adds a new city. Rockstar knows better than to make DLC that big that would only affect multiplayer.

Back on topic! Every time I read anything about the online world of GTA, I want to have a safe house way out in the middle of nowhere. As this is something I haven;t seen discussed much in the articles, I look forward to my options as a home owner outside of Los Santos city limits.

I gonna be a hermit.

Has anyone thought about R* simply extending the map further south and creating a fictitious San Diego? I think it would still fit the setting and vibes of SoCal.. And it wouldn't be as big of a project as recreating huge cities like Vegas or San Fran...? At least I wouldn't think so anyway hah

I can see stepping stone cities/towns being created, of which San Diego would be an option if extending the map into Mexico. I can't see San Diego appearing as a destination if you will.

I could see an extension of the map to a San Diego-like city. But I just don't see it being that much different from what we already have with GTA V's map.

If Rockstar is going to go to the trouble of adding something new to GTA Online's map, it would have to justify it's existence by being significantly different from Los Santos.

So I could see a revamped Liberty City because ~

1) - They already have a map as a base from which to create additional content ( with GTA lV's HD Map ), and...

2) - Liberty City is significantly different from Los Santos to warrant it's addition to GTAO

I could also see San Fierro or Las Venturas being added in the future as well. That's if one of them doesn't get their own game, especially Las Veturas, which would be perfect with the new heist mechanics. This is because they are both significantly different from Los Santos. But I couldn't see a major expansion like this happening any time soon ( maybe in 2 years? ).

And as for the next full-blown GTA Game, I can definitely see Rockstar taking us back to Vice City. Except that this time it will probably be set in the present, so it can fit into one singular online world alongside Gta lV & V's maps on Next Gen Consoles and PC ( probably with countryside and towns inbetween ).
