As Gunsmith pointed out, we don't have a dedicated Heist topic. Maybe that's because it fits into other topics, however it's a large part of the game so I think it deserves it's own topic.

Anyway... What are your thoughts on how heists will be planned and executed? How the money will be divided etc...

I hope but also doubt there is some real strategy to planning the heists, I want to be able to pull off a heist without it turning it to a huge gunfight due to my good planning, I also want everything to go horribly wrong due to my shit planning. Although I doubt you will have any real control over the planning of the heist and theres probably just some build up missions like "Go steal this surveillance van from this location" and then you use the van in said heist. Or a previous GTA example "Go get nasty with this employee in order to obtain a keycard"

Previews have stated that your decisions will have consequences.

Of course you don't have to think of everything yourself. So I guess there still will be missions like that indeed.

It sounds like you will have a lot of control over some things. In one of the reviews (CVG I think) they say you can chose and place your getaway car as part of the planning. Obviously where you place the car and what kind of car it is will effect how easily you get away.

When it comes to how we actually pull off the heist it seems our choices will be a bit more limited. sounds like we have two basic choices, stealthy or direct. It seems the choice that will effect things the most will be who you decide to hire to help on the job (if anyone at all).

I wonder where the final grand hiest will take place? Might be a bank or a casino, but it could be something more interesting like an art gallery or an abduction of a celebrity up in vinewood...

What I would like to see is four or five missions leading up to a heist that would be prep work. Stealing a get away car, taking a photo of a blue print etc. You wouldn't need to do all or any of the prep missions before the heist, but if you chose to skip them then things would go wrong, and the heist would be more difficult to complete. This way someone who put the work in and did the prep missions would see a much smoother (and maybe more profitable) heist, while people who wanted to rush in without the prep work would have to fight their way out resulting in a messier and harder job.

I'd rather not be guided in the prep stages. I'd like to think for myself, rather than be prompted to "Look for a fast getaway car and place it in the alley off of Fuckstick Boulevard". I hope they'll implement a difficulty system that affects the level of guidance.

Sounds like this is how it is going to work. not sure about the how optional the prep missions will be though.

Anyone think it would be cool if you could kind of create your own mini heist anytime you want? Like if you want you're free to walk into a bank whenever and try to rob the place, but of course it will be much more difficult to be successful on your own as with a group.

I'm sure heists will play a major role in at least one multiplayer mode. Maybe you will be able to pick your venue, security risks and plan of action, a bit like Hitman Absolution, and share it with the world...

I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that you'll be able to hijack a security van anytime and rob it (I know this was in previous GTA's) hopefully you'll be able to just put a gun to a guards head or blow the doors (and only the bloody doors off ;) ) rather than destroy the whole thing to get the money inside

That picture on the right makes it look like there is a lot of activity in that base, maybe there's an air-show on or something as such when you do that mission/heist.

I guess they'll guide you through the planning of the first heist a lot more than through the other ones. I doubt they will have a difficulty system, it isn't a racing game.

I believe that you are right about Trevor jumping from the Jeep as being part of the heist, but I don't think the picture on the board has anything to do with it. Look closely and you can see the Bug Stars logo, as well as a couple pictures of diamonds. Clearly the board is set for the jewelry store heist.

I wanna pull a museum heist. Then again, every time I went to a museum in LA there was nothing worth stealing. Except for the Museum of Death.

Since we've already seen bits of the Heat inspired heist, I imagine other heists will be related to other heist movies. I imagine we'll see a bank robbery similar to the one in Heat.

I wonder if we'll be able to kill (some of) our accomplices in the heists, like the Joker in Batman. That would be really profitable, but would then limit your options on the next heist (if they die forever). Would be an interesting concept.

Has anyone thought about the possibility of doing heists in multiplayer? I have a feeling Rockstar has something very big planned for multiplayer, and with crews being present in this mode, I think heists would be the perfect way to use that.

The last heist will either be:

Some shiester took Michaels's wife and daughter and are holding them hostage for 1 billion dollars. You have to do the ultimate heist and get them out alive

Or B

Michael's wife ran out with some man whore, stealing all the monies the guys had stole over the course of the game. You gotta sneak back in there, kill the bitch and take your monies back. >_<

3 to 1 its one of those two scenarious.

Has anyone thought about the possibility of doing heists in multiplayer? I have a feeling Rockstar has something very big planned for multiplayer, and with crews being present in this mode, I think heists would be the perfect way to use that.

They said no coop for the main story so idk about separate heists missions.
