Helicopter/Motorcycle Physics

Recommended Posts

Well I know there is a few topics concerning physics, but i would like to limit this one mainly to helicopters and motorcycle physics.

Helicopters:

Come on R*, you gotta fix this. Flying a heli hasn't changed since first implemented in Vice City. Same SHITTY physics. Like a flying a slow motion bobble head. I want a more realistic approach, something like BF3 helicopter controls. I want cock pit vews, and if flying a attack chopper, give us a damn cross hair at the very least (same goes for planes). IV was pathetic in this sense (and many others, still a great game however.)

Motorcycles:

Same thing... FIX IT R*!! The physics were also pathetic. SA was even better than IV. When turning the back wheel would automatically fishtail behind you, making it such an annoyance to ride and control well. I used to have a blast running up a 6-star wanted level in SA, jumping on an NRG-900 and running from the military as long as possible. I wouldn't dare even try that in IV. Possible? Duh. Boring, unrealistic, and pointless? Absolutely. Another thing, when firing a weapon from a motorcycle, or even a car, zoom in over the players shoulder so you can get a better view on what you're aiming at. Not so much that you can't see where you're going, be innovative in this aspect R*, I begeth you.

Lets hear it...

Dont you know how many black people are killed every year riding those sport bikes? Thats because they fish tail irl exactly the same way as in gta4...

However, since those people cant affort a real gaming system because they are too busy paying child support to their babies mammas that all they can play is gta-san andreas, hence the confusion..

Agree the helicopter physics in gta iv was to realistic for a game, because its propels (sorry if it is the wrong word) fall off after to much damage, its ok to be realistic but not like gta iv, i personaly think gta iv was to boring. (this is my first comment so bear with me if this is bad)

The helicopter physics weren't to realistic, if you touch a helicopter with anything you're fucked already. In IV you could smash into plenty of shit before breaking the blades or tail.

Thank's for your input professor. Now tell me, how many motorcycles was it that you've been on? Haro bikes don't count.

I stopped reading after "san andreas' motorcycle physics are more realistic than gta 4's". Then I stopped posting serious feed back after reading someone who agrees with this topic thought gta 4's helicopter physics were too realistic because the propeller would eventually break after grinding it against buildings.

Foreal I hope rockstar doesn't backtrack and make things arcade-like and unrealistic again just to please the minority who are still stuck on san andreas. Gta 4's physics were a huge improvement over previous games. I only hope they will be even better in GTA 5. Realistic driving/flying that takes skill to do well> going 100mph and successfully making a 90 degree turn.

Dude. You can ask any member here, search for the pics.. Im a professional stunt driver...

Educate yourself, boy.

That's fantastic. Now I know you're an idiot. Don't crash, boy.

I agree, the one thing i do miss from gta-san andreas is the panic i got when i flipped my car over with during an escort mission only to have the car explode, my mission fail, and me being on the opposite side of the map...

Also, no need to flame someone just because they are a verified expert, COSenna... I dont get mad at my doctor when he says i need a prostate exam, for example.

Agree, I like the challenge of something more realistic. I personally never had much of a problem with the bike physics in IV, helicopter physics could do with a tweek tho.

Interesting. I didn't know that bikes fishtail when taking a 90 degree turn going 15 mph. Good to know though.

All I'm saying is, let the bike lean into the turn more. There's a reason you don't hit the break going around a turn on a motorcycle, if you don't know by now stunt-driver-guy, its because you'll lay the bike down. If ANYTHING you hit the gas and hope you make the turn without your wheels flipping out from under you. I'm sure, being the elite physic-understanding daredevil you are, you should find that out pretty soon.

Not really trying to flame, TBH. Just thought that anyone who's rode a motorcycle should know that rule. And no, you don't just automatically fishtail when turning on a bike, and if you do, you're in the wrong profession.

I love how little immature kids are still talking about fucking so long san andreas.

if you haven't notice gta v is not san andreas 2, and if you haven't notice R* doesn't give a flying shit of whether you like the bikes or not, they do what the fuck they feel better, and in my opinion I am glad they don't listen to little crying baby's like you that complain about realism.

if u haven't notice there is a game called saints row 3, go and play that and STFU there you will have all the bullshit you are asking for here.

I don't think gta 4 really gives justice to how fast you're going. You may think you're going 15mph, but you're probably much faster than that. Look at the speed of other cars. I like to think that on the highway they're going 50-60mph, yet it looks like they're going slow. So If you base your speed off of that, you're probably going alot faster than you think.

As for this fish tailing, I really haven't had much trouble with that.. unless I was slamming on the brakes or going rediculously fast and trying to make quick movements.

They're fish tailing because you're leaning forward. Lean back and you'll get more stability and grip, forward gives more turning control. If your gonna play an AUTO game learn to fucking drive.

I'm going to be honest with you I didn't know leaning forward gave you more turning control. I only ever leaned forward when I was going in a straight line trying to reach max speed. But you're right because if you're trying to quickly accelerate while leaning forward or try makeing quick turns while leaning forward it winds up making your bike go directions you didn't intend. I didn't even think to correlate that to what he was saying.

Wow im actually agreeing with new members. Holy shit.

Same thing goes about the cars going faster than you think for the helicopters.

Might seem slow but look at how fast you're actually moving by the radar. The streets on the map fly by quickly. Cant tell as much because you dont see anything whooshing past you when your in open air.

Unfortunately this is down to the balance between realism and actually being able to play the game... In GTA 4 you could hit a lampost laying on the ground at speed in a car and the car could flip 3 or 4 times end over end... In reality your car would smash over it without flipping and your suspension and wheels would be trashed... But that wouldn't be any fun/use for a game. Same with the heli's. If they fall apart because you clip a building that ain't gonna be fun. If they break after you hit 3 or 4 buildings then you need to practise your flying.

The bike physics are not perfect by any means, but not too terrible either. My biggest suggestion to R* would be that tyre technology (Even road tyres) has come on a long way and they should take a look at that. Nowadays you really have to be ham fisted in the real world to get wheels locking up under braking if the tyres are good...

What a waste of time, haha. I thought there might be some intelligent members on this forum looking for better gameplay. Instead I get flamed by a bunch of highschool forum junkies because I have "5 posts" under my name.

It's a personal opinion. If you loved motorcycles and their physics in IV and want the same shit in V, then I hope you don't get what you want because you're truly an idiot. Period.

Now please, flame away...
