Bethesda has revealed a few more details about Fallout 76's campaign, including how finishing it will reward the player.

Although the game will place a heavy emphasis on multiplayer opportunities and survival - when announced, Bethesda referred to it as an "online survival RPG" - that doesn't mean that it's giving up the series' traditional story-based elements, with the game's development team clarifying that Fallout 76 is still "driven by quests".

The news comes from Game Informer's latest feature on the game, with the developers revealing that the game's "main quest" storyline will revolve around the mysterious disappearance of Vault 76's Overseer. Bethesda's director Todd Howard explains that "she left before everybody", leaving behind secret instructions for the player, who receives a transmission from her upon leaving the Vault. This transmission, and the instructions left behind, will drive the player through the game's main storyline - which will end with the player gaining access to the game's nukes.

The game's inclusion of nuclear weapons prompted a flurry of questions after the initial announcement, with some players concerned they could be used by trolls; Bethesda later clarified that nukes could only be used on certain areas and that players would be warned in advance, as well as revealing that nuked areas would receive more valuable loot (as well as more dangerous enemies). Now it seems that players will need to earn the right to use these weapons by playing through the game's main quest, which is described as "a lengthy, multi-part story that takes players across West Virginia" and will require a high level to complete.

Howard was also quick to reassure that the traditional rich vein of side quests is still very much in play in Fallout 76. As with previous games, players will be presented with a wide variety of options for how they would like to play, with plenty of scope for anyone who would rather spend time completing side quests than following the main story. In-game markers will clearly point out where side quests are available, with Howard noting that although it may seem "a bit gamey", the team wanted to be "proactive" in guiding players towards interesting content.

  2. yea they're just doing it for the attention... the quicker they can post it, the more RTs they get, even though they clearly stole them from someone else... yea i don't recognize the latest female, i must of missed her in the trailers.. then again, i haven't be going so in depth with RDR2 as i did with games in the past... i just don't care anymore lol, fallout 76 is about the only thing i am kind of really looking into... i get enough RDR2 news and rumors on twitter lol...

  4. some random dude on a discord channel i like hooked me up with these fallout loot crate figurines... i was the only one who actually gave him an address to ship them to, everyone else was probably skeptic of giving a rando their addy... i didn't mind lol... he said he's given away stuff to his friends from the crates, but didn't like these figurines so he asked us if we wanted them... i took the bait and got rewarded lol...

  5. lol yea... i don't need any of that either, i'm loaded...  i haven't pre-ordered yet, so i missed out on whatever that single player treasure map was all about... i'll probably just wait until a couple of weeks before release before i buy it... i have zero interest in any of the other editions either, i'll just stick with basic... mainly because i know most of the other incentives, especially the online stuff, will be stuff no one uses a month later because of better and cooler gear...

the online horse is probably the only thing i'll regret slightly... but i get the war horse in single player for pre-ordering, so that should suffice...

  6. i mean, they never did finish that damn skyscraper in downtown los santos, lol... i see what you're getting at tho, perhaps the map does develop the more you advance the story... which also brings up the elephant in the room; does RDRO take place before or after the story? because then that would be the map we all see... so that's a tricky one...

  7. beta comes out in october...

i like their idea about the griefiing system... however, later in the game when these "assholes" have a lot of caps, losing them won't be much of a problem... or if the cap loss is just a few hundred for being a troll, that's not much of a loss either... we'll see...

  8. same, i have other games to play right when this comes out, i'll miss the episodic approach too... i haven't watched the miami playthru yet, no need to at this point either... i don't really play much anymore tho, but i still have contracts out there you can try... as always, share yours here and i'll take a look when i can...

  9. my guess is the 24th...

they can focus on the final new additions to GTAO next week (minus a drip feed car or two) and then get back to the usual weekly events the following week... which hopefully is the last huge news we hear about GTAO for a while, focusing on RDR2 for the next couple of months... we'll probably get an online trailer in the middle of next month...

  10. yup, i'll be tuning in... i submitted a question too, would be awesome to have them answer it... when obsidian did one of those in a podcast, chris avelone answered my question, which there were only a few answered, so that was pretty cool ?
