  1. Rockstar prefers GTA on Playstation. The only reason Xbox 360 got exclusive content was because they paid FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS for it. If our Platforms page is correct and Sony have more or less given Rockstar a blank cheque (lets say $100 million or more), there is a possibility it could be PS3 exclusive - at least for a year or something.

I personally only bought an Xbox 360 and bought the game for 360 because I couldn't wait for the DLC to come to PS3. Therefore, there will be people who will buy a PS3 just to play GTA 5. It's impossible to say most people preferred to buy GTA IV on 360 because the 360 had extra incentives to buy that version. If the PS3 had DLC exclusivity, maybe people would have bought that instead.

But going back to my original point, from the people I've spoken to at R* (although admittedly they're not developers), they mostly all feel GTA is in its rightful place on the Playstation and feels better with a PS controller.

  2. I would love it (even if it's turned on with a cheat) where you can just destroy people. A direct hit with an RPG more or less vaporises them... Shotgun blasts can blow their limbs off... constantly shooting dead bodies will make their head come off etc. Blood everywhere. Cars skidding on the blood from massacred predestrians. Eyeballs popping out. Throwing somebody's lung at someone else!

Might be a bit over the top but I'd like to see a lot more gore than previous games. Wish people would stop worrying about what the media say, as soon as the game's released it'll sell a shit load the controversy will only make it more popular.

  3. The comments on the main website were built specifically to allow guests to comment fairly quickly and easily on website pages. I appreciate most of what's written is crap, but I've added features to help with that. Members and guests can report posts which they think should be deleted, and members can vote up or down each comment. Comments with -3 or lower will be automatically hidden.

Guests are also encouraged to create an account to make posting comments easier, which in turn will encourage them to use the forums and make the website more active.

If everyone needed to have an account to comment, 90% of people probably wouldn't bother signing up. By letting guests comment, it's a fact they come back and keep checking for replies (as seen by guests who have commented multiple times). Eventually they might like the community and register an account.

Plus from a technical standpoint, allowing users to post all sorts of comments on the site helps with search engine rankings, because we have plenty of different keywords in the content which can be picked up on.

I've also updated the website comments and removed the "Approved By Admin" text. Now you'll either see a link to report the comment or nothing at all. That way it doesn't appear that we're endorsing the comments, but it prevents people from constantly reporting them.

  4. Well for me it works fine on my phone, the only issue is chat as it kicks me if i leave for 2 minutes...but i just re enter it so its not such a big deal. And changing my ave, if i custom change it then it goes back to my old one within hallf hour so i have to go through my twitter, not much of an issue just making you aware of it.

Some mobile versions are not representive of the site, i wouldnt want to miss images etc so i would just stick with the classic view

All of that is down to the forums and definitely not something I could make any more mobile friendly. All I can work on is the front site.

  5. A mobile version of the site is the next thing I'm going to try to do. There are quick hacks which I can do on the server to effectively remove all formatting and images from the site, making it completely text-only and perfect for low bandwidth devices, but I'll try to make a seperate template so it looks good on a phone too, but is a lot smaller and simpler in terms of file size and design.

  6. It was a deleted topic, but when topics are deleted the first time they are just hidden from regular users. Admins have to permanently delete it again to remove it from the database. The front page doesn't check if a topic has been deleted or not, it just shows the latest 5 topics in the GTA 5 section, so if it hasn't been permanently deleted, it'll still show up.

There was nothing in the topic worth reading anyway.

  7. Given that a number of our pages have a lot of comments, I'm trying to think of ways to improve the size of the page. It's a bit of a pain to scroll down 70 comments to read the latest ones, but at the same time I don't want to display them in order from newest to oldest as I think the first people to comment should be shown at the top.

I was thinking of maybe grouping them by date and making it so when you click on the date it will hide/show the comments on that date. Then the dates within 3 days in the past will be open by default, so you're effectively ignoring everything but the newest comments and there's less to scroll through.

Another solution involves pagination, similar to the forums, where 25 comments are shown per page then you can click [2] or next to view the rest.

I could also implement something similar to facebook/twitter where 25 comments are shown by default and as you scroll down it either automatically loads more, or there's a link to load more which loads the next 25.

Because the comments are text only, they don't use much bandwidth or space, so it's not a major issue for loading the website, it would just be good to tidy them up a bit.

    Any ideas?

  8. rockstar needed to give us something. us hardcore fans have been waiting for 4 years for something, anything leading us to gta 5. i can remember back in 2010 searching youtube for any kind of leaked info for the new gta. i know none of it was true! but god, anything would do. rockstar knows what there doing, there building up the hype. gta 4 broke records and, i believe, brought in a whole new crowd to the gta realm. people that once thought that gta games were crude and stupid, were amazed by gta 4. this game will set standards, and break records. hype, hype, hype. little by little info will come out, but i guarantee you it will be nothing like max panye with also those little videos, they'll tease us to the last minute

Too right, although I really hope they do something extra controversial with GTA 5. All the other games were groundbreaking, letting you shag prostitutes, deal drugs etc, but GTA 4 was fairly clean in my opinion. There wasn't the hot coffee type controversy (which they totally avoided with the custscenes showing the outside of the house while you're shagging), and although they really hated that, they need to do something similar to make GTA the epic, most talked about game it used to be.

  9. I can just imagine the radio constantly going on about censorship and stuff. Only totally exaggerated in the GTA way. Although to be honest it's hard to make it seem any more stupid than it is. Still think there'll be an advert on the radio or a caller phoning up about it either in support or against it, like the weird "Killer Bees" caller on Chatterbox. Thoughts? Obviously R* won't refer to it as SOPA. Maybe something like POOP (people outrage on piracy) or something lolol.

  10. The iGTA5 Facebook page could do with an admin or two, just to interact with the fucking idiots fans who are following it. All of our news automatically gets posted there, but it could be cool if someone could post personal updates or upload GTA 5 images in a similar way to how TreeFitty engages with the Twitter audience.

If you have facebook and you'd like to be listed as an admin on there, post here and we'll decide on those who are least likely to scare everyone away.
