Los Angeles Streets: Facts

Recommended Posts

I only made this thread to inform outsiders whats really going on in LA.

The year 2013 is no different than 1993 when it comes to gang members and murders, if not worse. If you check murder rates of Los Angeles, you will think it's gotten safer than before, but that has never been the case. The government doesn't report all homicides in Los Angeles (and maybe other cities, I can only speak for the one I live in) and they do it for a reason. They want people to think that they cleaned up the LA streets, when in reality there are shootings daily in South Central/Compton/Long Beach/ect, and homicides very often also, and police brutality even more than that (as a matter of fact, their are so many innocent unarmed murders performed by officers of the 'law'). Compton, was never safe, no matter what you hear anyone say.

Don't be fooled by nice neighborhoods: LA is known for having the nicest neighborhoods (especially Compton, Long Beach, Mid City/West LA), but can be just as dangerous (or more) than the ghettos or any other city. So don't let those palm trees fool you.

Gang Colors: This varies among certain areas, but LA gangsters really care nothing about the color you wear (at least 80 percent of them don't), as the Crip vs Blood era has faded out, so has colors. Gang members nowadays represent via baseball caps. Every gang has one or more (even though I only know some of them), and you really can be killed if you wearing the wrong one (yes.... its that bad).

Crips vs Bloods: Their are still Crip gangs that say BK, and Blood gangs that say CK, but honestly their are maybe less than 10 black gangs in LA that truly stick to that rather than just 'saying' it. Plenty of bloods and Crips are allied with each other, even though separate members of the gang still may have hate towards the other. Nowadays its Neighborhood Crips (and all their crip/blood allies) vs Gangster Crips (and all their Crip/Blood allies), the two were the first crips to feud a few decades ago and this is currently the biggest gang war going on in the city.

Surenos: The biggest gangs in LA are SURs (southern united rifa), but they will never be as dangerous as the outnumbered Crips, Bloods, Hoovers, and Pirus. Simply because of principle. Black gangs can go and shoot up anyone they see that can possibly be an enemy, while Hispanic gangs must only shoot/kill when a hit is called (except for a green light on a gang, which means kill all of them). Because of the Mexican Mafia, they are probably the most organized group of gangs in SoCal.

E/W/N/S side: Gangs allover LA rep their geographical 'side'. just in different ways. Black gangs, are direct by city (for example, they will rep the side of the exact city their in, like W/S Nutty Blocc Compton Crip). But Hispanic gangs such as SURs almost ALL put SouthSide, as in SouthSide of Cali, but not all of them do this (such as 18st and Florencia 13). All Watts black gangs put E/S as Watts is just an area in East LA.

Pirus: The Piru gang started on Piru Street in Compton, CA. In their earliest years they hung out with Crips and even wore the color blue (but they were never Crips and blue was never an official color, Piru Crips NEVER existed). Some time in the early 70s, the Crips wanted to take over all of Los Angeles, so they told all the other gangs (Pirus, Brims, Bishops, who still all exist today) to join the Crip alliance. They didn't, so the Crips started to stop being so nice, and it was the Pirus' idea to join forces with the other smaller gangs and form the Bloods, so technically, every Blood gang in the world started on Piru street in Bompton (bloods word for Compton). After this they called themselves Piru Bloods. I think it was sometime in the mid 90s when Pirus started beefing with the other Bloods, so ever since then, they dropped "Blood" out their name, and some of them even put "BK". Pirus in Compton also put "CCK" instead of "CK" sometimes, meaning "Compton Crip Killa". Even though they are no longer Bloods, Bompton Pirus still say the word "blood" since they originated it (even Crips used to say 'blood' often before it was a gang word).

Hoover: Some hate both Crips and Bloods, they used to all be Crips, but now some are and some are just Hoover or Hoover Criminal.

Official Gang Colors

Crips: Blue

Bloods: Red and Black (Santana Blocc Compton Crips wear black also, since before Bloods existed)

Piru's: Burgundy (but they wear red more often)

Hoover: Orange (Big Worm from Friday may be a Hoover, since he has a orange low-rider and the movie was filmed near Hoover turf)

I can post alot more but i already overworked my fingers, any questions i might be able to answer. I was too lazy to check for typos so my bad if u see any lol..

I'm curious, where did you get all this information? You seem to be slightly extremely wrapped up in this 'gang mentality' of the 90's. How do you know for a fact that homicide has maintained it's consistency? Because you document every murder in Los Angeles?

Gangs today are all about smoking dope and collecting federal aid in the form of welfare and fraudulent tax filings...

1990s it was your gang against the world.

Wait. Death. I know who you are. Omg it all makes sense now. Death r surius, mentality of a four year old, and interest in government conspiracies and gang warfare. Your mother fucking Tupac done woke up from his coma, surius mental damage from almost dying. Now your mad because Obama wont let you come out to the world because he don't want you steppin on his status of most provocative black person in the world. Wow duad.

Homicides in Los Angeles are not reported by the police to public and news officials. They are instead reported by the Los Angeles County Coroners office. The federal government couldn't give two shits about some person in the street who was shot and killed. You throw around the term "the government" like its a cliche. Shut the fuck up already.

From January 2010 through December 2010 the National Police Misconduct Statistics and Reporting Project recorded 4,861 unique reports of police misconduct that involved 6,613 sworn law enforcement officers and 6,826 alleged victims.

As of 2006 there were approximately 683,396 police officers employed in the US. This total only applied to full-time officers. If you do the math that is a rounded 1% of all police officers who have been reported for misconduct.

In 2013 there have only been 14 incidents to date.

Crime in Los Angeles has dropped a staggering amount since the 90's.

Of the top 100 most dangerous cities in the United States with a population of over 25,000 only recording violent crimes, which include murder, rape, armed robbery and aggravated assault, Los Angeles was not even put onto the list. Chicago was placed at 79, and Compton at 63. Oakland was placed at 13. The top city was East St. Louis Illinois.

Now while I know you think by watching youtube videos and looking up stuff on Wikipedia makes you an expert, you're not.

Death knows what he's talking about. I was in LA when I went to film school. A good friend and classmate, Jose Garcia, lived in Inglewood, which is always up to no good. I'd go to his place to make props and set pieces because his last name was Garcia, and he had a lot of tools.

Anyway, it was crazy in that gang turf. I personally survived 36 drive-bys in two days. As to unreported homicide, a cop once gave me his pistol and told me to shoot a restrained black man he was standing on. Of course I did as I also would have been killed if I had not complied.

If you think that what Death said is all glorified Hip Hop nonsense and an obsession with 90's gang culture you're wrong. Rappers are more accurate with their depictions of life than any historian could hope to be. W can learn a lot from Death.

Love the attempt to improve your spelling and grammar. Even though you don't care what we think.

The other main reason i made this thread is because GTA 5 is set in Los Angeles and i wanted everyone to know more detail about the city that this game is based in.

@cuda some do, some don't

@Brian you cant go by those "most dangerous cities" or "murder rates", you will truly be misguided, one of the reasons is because Compton would be far above 63, because they dont count the whole "Compton". They dont count East Compton, West Compton, East Rancho Dominguez, Rosewood, and Willdowbrook. These are where some of the most active Compton gangs are (W.brook is not really Compton but everyone considers it as Compton), and for other cities as well, they never truly count the 'whole city'. The cops know about every homicide (because they have to do their detective work), and if they really cared (which you know the LAPD doesn't) they would speak out. and they work for the government, with all that you posted idk if you ask me you sure do seem to give a shit. The fact is that the LAPD is the biggest gang in LA, and they have control over more than most people think.

@fact believe what you want

@marcus i really know not much about the 90s, this is all '2010-2013' generation. I got the info because I know gang members from multiple gangs, and i know people who have gotten killed, or heard of, and some of those murders are not counted.

@jobo a lot of them go to school and do well even though they shoot people and sell drugs.. Even though they're dumb enough to gang bang a lot of them are actually well educated, it helps in the streets a lot.

@beatnicpie great post, and I've even said that I will improve my grammar here because I'm tired of people bitching about it.

Satire wins.

did you mean that as in:

The use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of...

or

A play, novel, film, or other work that uses satire

Maybe it is the way you wrote it. The gangs have colors but colors don't matter? Blood-Crip-Prune Street Bullies; the gang names are ridiculous.

That isn't your fault though. You didn't make them up but, the whole time I read that info it sounded like a high school student trying to make up a story as he went along.

The number of reported homicides is accurate, because blacks don't count as people.

You know, my state felt that way for a long time.

I believe he meant the prior as opposed to the latter.

haha there is a place for you in the LAPD juss sayin and @Brian again in this case I would rather believe what i actually see on the streets than what i read on the net..
